If I ran all of the faders (channels & masters) at unity, the walls would blow out because the volume would knock them over.
:O
Well if you would actually read instead of putting words into ones mouths I have never stated running all faders at unity. I said the gains as close to unity per channel - or set under clipping (clip light rarely lighting - an occasional blink is ok, constant blinking or steady lights no good). I said the faders as close to unity as possible - this gives a little headroom per channel for adjustments either up over unity or under & the master fader is the main volume control - not at any set position could be set low, or it could be set high depending on the needs of the volume. But doing so, gives the system the best signal to noise ratio in the main outputs.
