I'm doing a show New Years Eve at my regular Saturday Night gig.
I'm expecting a much bigger than normal turnout for New Years Eve.

Due to space limitations my normal set up consists of 2 15" Yamaha mains
stacked one on top of the other 3 steps up leading to another room that is not used.
For 99% of the time this is fine.  ( again not ideal but its the way it has to be)
If I put the speakers on stands they get in the way of the "pool players" and since the place is small if I put the speakers out front a little they will be in front of the singers and too close to the BAR area.

Now my question - I want to add some volume due to the expected volume of people. Now I realize due to the crowd I want to get some speakers UP OFF THE FLOOR on stands ( pool players will have to put up with it this night)  I want to put my Peavey 2- 12" light weights on the stands running off 1 channel of the amp ( so this would be 4ohms)  But I want to run just 1 15" Yamaha off the other channel on the floor  as anoteher main but with much better BASS response.

Can I run 1 speaker at 8ohm on 1 channel and 2 8ohms speakers on the other (4ohms) without hurting something?  (Using a Crown XLS 602 amp).
If need be I can run both Yamahas on the other channerl but again due to space
I was hoping to use only one. My idea is the 12" will reach the end of the bar and the 2 speakers along with the floor 15" will be fine for the dance floor (which is right by the pool table) See I told you this place is small....

I don't see why your Yamaha's alone can't pull it off for you. Is there no way you can put these on either side of you instead of on top of each other. I used my two 15" Yamaha's at an outside gig covering several acres, and the sound covered the whole area with clear sound.

The Yamahas alone can do the job ..That's not the problem .
As you know they are 55lbs each and I was hoping to use my lightweights on the stands along with my light weight stands.  The peaveys are justr smaller and not so obtrusive.  Otherwise if I put the Yams on stands I'll need my heavier stands and I know some idiot playing pool will try to move them or something and I don't want the Yams falling over or getting too mucj in anyones way.  The 12" I can put out front a little more due to the light weight and smalle size.

Ideally if I could get the Yamahas up on stands they would do a great job alone .

Ahh, now I understand!  Yeah those puppies are heavy. It's a good thing I'm cute, I can usually get someone to put them on the stands for me  Though I did have to get creative getting them on the stands one night.

With amps of today, you shouldn't have a problem with the mismatched loads.  Years ago this would have been a problem.  Amps & their power supplies have come a long way.

I wouldn't say that, you still want the speakers to fall into the load ability of the amp.  I think Jam was talking about a one night gig.  However on my own system I do run 2 8 ohm speakers on one channel making them a 4 ohm combined load & a single 8 ohm on the other.

I wouldn't put 2 different ohm speakers on the same channel.

Close the pool table for the night.    Don't ask for more trouble than you need.    Nobody needs to play pool that bad.     And the bar ins't going to make as much as they could lose over a good bar pool fight.  :O

If the owner is game...Big Dogs Idea of closing the pool tables would be the way to go. Then you have your problem solved.

One of my gigs does this on NYE and covers the pool table with a table cloth and then puts chips n dips and various munchies on them. Then if anyone pitches a fit you can say....hey they closed the tables so they can put food out.

For what little it cost the bar to put out the food they will more than make back in drinks. Also if seating is an issue, it creates more seating room with the pool tables pushed out of the way.

If you can find the room, hook up both 12s through the parallel trs on each yamaha, gaining up to 50% more power on both channels....I see it's too late..sorry.........what did you end up doing, and how did it go then
