Would you go to a show that had your face plastered on a TV while you sing?

OMG No! LMAO

I would think that most folks would not want to see themselves as the lyrics sweep accross the screen. It would be way too distracting and would probably throw my timing off.

It doesn't have to be the one you sing from.   I talking about another one.

One of my competitors up the road has this exact feature on his karaoke. I have found that the regular singers love it, but he NEVER gets newbie singers to get up there because it adds to the nervous factor. Also, once the drunks start singing around 11-11:30, they all just get up there and giggle and play around with their camera image instead of singing.

Overall, I would say that it is more trouble than it is worth.

i still like the idea.  tha majority of my regular singers are performers.  the television that gets the signal would be in the next room anyway, newbies would not see themselves.  it's more for the folks in the next room to see what's going on.

Ive done the same thing with live singer camera image on tvs when the singer singing. Its really neat cause you can do close up head shots that make them look like they are the real thing on TV. But you CANNOT have it showing on  a TV that is in front of them where they can see it. Has to be on a tv BEHIND them, HIdden or off to the side out of line-of-site. Otherwise they become shy, bashful, nervous, uncomfortable. It works REALLY well when you have a large group dancing=--then jsut put up all the dancing on the screens as part of the evenings video entertainment. The crowd likes the images of the singers--they get a big kick out of that---but if visible it will distract the singers.

I've always liked it. We have a "stage shot" camera that goes to different T.V.'s. People seem more comfortable with when it's zoomed out showing the whole stage and making them look "smaller". I can see how they might get skiddish if you zoomed in close for a "face" shot for every singer, 'cause peoples heads look really BIG on the wide screen T.V. LOL

The only problem I have with it is people complain they can't read the words. I'm assuming you mean to use it as a back ground. With mine you have the option to turn it off at anytime. I found most singers would ask me to turn it off.

I went to Karaoke in San Francisco when Gigi came out this way and they had this set up. The video only went to the big screen TV, rest of the TV had lyrics. They had bluescreen thing going so the singers had computer generated graphics overlay that was kind of cool. It had middle area clear where it showed the singers and outer area had changing and moving graphics, like firework, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. I thought it was entertaining.

Sometimes you cant hide it, some places have people record themselves for $5 so it just is more effecient.  And also they show screens for people out on the street to watch.

The place I frequent has cameras on the singer.. They arn't always on.. And when they are on you can't see yourself from the stage so it really isn't a distraction for me...And I hate the way I look when I sing so if I was at a place where I could see myself I don't know if I would sing or not....

As long as I couldn't see it myself while singing, it wouldn't bother me.  I can see why it would discourage some new singers, though.  I figure that most people can already see me anyway, so if I look like a dork when I sing it's not as if the new TV image is revealing some big secret.  However, I'd like be able to assume that I *don't* look like a dork when I sing, so I don't want to see it myself.

I have the "fat chick" thing going on, so it makes me uncomfortable, but it is better when I can't see myself.

The overlays they had at Silver Cloud in San Francisco were pretty cool--I wonder where you get those? I had forgotten all about the videocast. That was a fun place, Ben; have you been back?

I'd go if I knew I'd have a good time at the show.  But I wouldn't go becuase of it and frankly, not sure if it would add anything to the experience/show.  I don't need to see myself singing and doubt anybody would care to either.  8-)   I assume this is a stage setup so there's no, "who's singing" questions.  Sometimes in the place I frequent, people will wonder who's singing since you can't necessarily see them (e.g. they're sitting or in a corner somewhere).

Now, video-taping is a different thing-  As I mentioned in another post, Imperial Palace will record you singing for $10 or $20 bucks (1 or 2 songs respectively) and then give you a DVD.  That's different.

Egads!  No!  A friend of ours broadcast live shots of the singers on several TV's, including a HUGE screen behind the singer... I asked him not to film me but he did it anyway....  I don't like photographs of myself so I sure don't like to see me plastered on a TV screen!

After thinking about it, I wouldn't mind being on camara as long as I can't see it on a screen. I figure it's easier fr others to ignore than it would be if I saw it while singing.

They never get my good side anyway. My good side isn't even in front.
