A few monnths ago maninblack asked everbody here to send hnm a dipdot from their area  I would be curious what the final result is and how many responded I know Texas and Colorado actually went down to Harley and spent a couple of bucks and sent one...  Everybody else just wants to sit and run their jaw...

I know I was dissapointed with the response here... Phoneys....

If you're curious what the final result is, how can you assume the turnout was low?  

I don't know how many he eventually received, but I chatted briefly with James yesterday and he said his brother was quite pleased with the gift.  I'm sure he'll update the original thread when he gets an opportunity.

the final tally was posted somewhere....i think he ended up with ten dots altogether.  i think 5 from Texas and some from some other states that don't really matter  LMAO  LMAO  just kidding to the non-Texans.  i'm not sure where the post is, but james did post who all sent them.  haven't heard how they were received by his bro, though.

Nasty my (@$%&#!)... I find it interesting that on one of the most visted forums on the internet only 10 people respond to a request that requires an action that requires something when leaving and getting away from the computer.. That is why I say phoney.... Phoney.... Phoney....When it comes to real action there is no response... Say what you want The people that sent dip dots are real I and maninblack know that for sure...

What specifically is a "dip dot"?  Sounds like something the clergymen use to put ash on your forehead or something....

Howdy folks. First let me say, and I do apologize for not posting this. My brother was super pleased with the dipdots, let me repeat super pleased. He was quite beside himself to have such a gift given by you folks, who are in fact to him, complete strangers.
Now on one hand, was I a bit disappointed at the low turnout, yeah I have to admit that I was.  
But on the other hand the folks that did send the dots were and still are some of the folks that I've developed a closer relationship to here on the boards then maybe others, so it kinda stands to reason that they would be the ones who sent them.

Now I know that karyoker may have bent some egos with his comments, but I completely respect the passion in which he speaks. I don't take it as a personal slam against anyone in particular, but as an observation of us as a whole group.
It is paramount that we as members try to do our best to help out our brothers and sisters when we can. That's the way it is in the biker community and really the way it should be here. If we can't count on each other, then who can we count on?
As in my case, it was just a simple request for dipdots. What I failed to mention, and I will take full blame, is the number of emails and pm's from folks supporting my efforts.
While they themselves were not able to personally help me out for one reason or another; not having a shop in their area, or the shop in question wanting to charge for them(of which I did request that no one buy them, if they weren't free, forget it)
it was the spirit of friendship that I valued the most. So did I hope for more, yes, we always want more, that's just human nature. Am I happy with what I did get, you better believe it and don't ever think otherwise.

The total amount sent was 10, if I remember correctly, I got one from Colorado, Alaska, Illinois, Tennessee, Oregon, and it was either 4 or 5 from Texas. And please understand, if I forgot someone, I'm trying to remember this off the top of my head, so please don't take offense.

So everyone do me a huge favor. Step back for a moment take a deep breath and not get so worked up over things. My feelings are that karyoker has a right to an opinion just like anyone else here, and like I said, I fully respect the passion in which he spoke. If his comments bit you in the arse, not much I can or would do, except accept it for what it is. Every once in a while we need someone to shake things up and lay it on the line. If you're gonna talk the talk, then walk the walk and if you can't, then do us all a simple favor and STFU.... it's as simple as that folks.

But back to the subject at hand, to each and everyone of you who sent, emailed, pm'd, or just mentioned it, I thank you, my brother thanks you.

actually I DO take umbrage James simply becos you have been on the receiving end of me assisting you in the past. If I have emailed the shop instead of making a toll call and have recieved no response I feel I have done all I can do.

Morgan, I have no problem with you dear, believe me on this. Some Harley shops are just complete arses about their business. They feel because it has a Harley logo on it, that it has to be bought. That is the one thing that I have always disliked about HD.
But like I said, I appreciate all those who sent, emailed, pm'd and that includes you young lady. So having said that, there's no way you should even feel like anything mentioned should pertain to you in any form or fashion. Like I said, I'm the one who didn't post each and every email, comment or otherwise on the boards. In fact most of the conversations about the dots took place off the boards, your's included. Once the conversations hit the pm's and emails, I felt that it was a personal conversation and only should be shared by the people concerned. I know where your heart was and what your intentions were, isn't that really what's most important?

I do apologize for not getting the ones from Kansas and Missouri... THis whole past month was pure h e l l for me, physically and mentally. After my stint in the hospital, it's JUST now getting to the point where I can get up and move around a lot.

I don't use that as an excuse, but it WAS one of the major contributing factors!

While I don't completely agree that calling anyone on here a Phoney is appropriate(well with exception of a few - you know who you are! )

zthe fact that you received responses from this group is a blessing in itself.

Consider the fact that we all have our own agendas, we all have our own time constraints, and we all have our own families. Additionally, I believe that many may have missed the post, like I did.

Sure it could have had a better turn out. However taking time to write a comment on the board is one thing - taking the time to get out and remember a request for someone else and actually doing so is terrific.

Maybe next time we will all try a little harder, but who really knows.
