I got a call last wednesday from a bar owner who's KJ couldn't work and only gave the owner about two hours notice. The other KJ had to go out of town early the next morning so he couldn't fill in and they couldn't get ahold of Phatrat. I was their only choice.

I got to work the show for about two hours while Rich and Sharon got ready for Rich to take over for me.

If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have been able to even work the first two hours. I gained a lot of knowledge from here that helped give me enough confidence to cover the show until Rich could step in.

Thanks everyone, you all helped in one way or another.

I really do mean EVERYONE.

Also, Rich, a big thanks for stepping in.

Way to go man, good to hear you finally got your feet wet with a trail by fire situation.
Those are the gigs that really put your skills to the test, and I'm glad to see that it worked out fine for you. Mad props and congrats, if I were a drinking man, I'd raise my glass and give you a toast.......ah, what the hell, Prost  :beermates:

I should mention that I used the bar's equipment. All the channels on the mixer where set to zero which was fine because I was going to start from scratch anyway. The one big thing I missed was that the effects were too high. I like little or no effects.

That club is going digital shortly and we are the people ripping the disks. I am at home making sure everything will be ready for this. We start at the beginning of the year and I am considering normalizing the music for them to avid headaches down the road. We didn't normalize our disks when we ripped them but since I have the tools to do that I just might if I can guarantee that it won't jeopardize the quality that we used for ripping. Cool Edit Pro has a command or a batch routine that will do this.

chucky, chucky....it's all your fault i had so much fun!!!

kjing again brought back a whole lotta flashbacks to the days i did this for a living!!  i had such a blast!!  and, the singers had a blast.  as a matter of fact, we were pretty slow on wednesday and gigi, bless her heart, stayed with me all night and she got to sing like 14 songs!!!

the bar called me again the next night to do the show.  most of the people who were there wednesday showed up on thursday!! they said they had a lot of fun and wanted more.

but alas, two nights in a row and then having to work the next day, ye gods man, i was whooped!!!

chuck did a great job while he was doing his show.  it was great to see him "back in the saddle".

a little side note, the bar has 3 sony 250 disk cd+g players, a huge board i forget the brand, crazy sounding speakers and we had to pull one mike because i think the diaphram thingy was cracked cause everyone sounded  vibraty (is that a word).  anyway, once we figured out why everyone was sounding so flat, we set everything correctly and lo and behold, the singers, each singer, sounded great.

i take great pride in making most people sound really good.

it really was fun but i think it will be a long time before i do that again two nights in a row!!!

We got compliments on the sound but some of that was from Rich turning down the effects.
