I hope you don't mind me putting this under your post, but can you copy music from SS to your pc? If so how?

Once you have played the song, goto
C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
and there you will find e.g. ss_46294_2386.mp3
Copy this file and away you go.

I don't get it.  Why would listening through a speaker reveal more flaws in a performance than listening through headphones?  It seems like the headphones would convey more of the sounds without distracting outside noises, and so you'd hear more of the mistakes.

I never listen through headphones so I don't know the difference.  Maybe that's why I'm often surprised at the glowing comments left on some not-so-glowing submissions: they must be using headphones!
I found it hard to hear whether or not I was out of tune with the headphones because you seem so surrounded by it, it was easy to miss a major flaw.
Then, when the cd was played back, it was waaaay noticeable.

Does that make any sense? LOL

Or while listening to someone else's song in SS through headphones, a listener might become caught up in the sound of a singer's voice, but not notice some flaws.
I agree that mixing does not work wearing headphones also.

I found out many years ago how humbling it can be to go into a recording studio and listen to one's isolated work.  At that time I was playing bass guitar in a band.  Whether it be singing or playing, when you don't have the rest of the music coming out, headphones or speakers, it is what it is.  I remember the pressure of trying to get it right quickly when paying by the hour for studio time.  These days, I often PFL/monitor to the headphones a singer in karaoke just to hear how the pure vocals are really coming out.

.... when I played it on my stereo system, same thing- I was like "yikes, they sound awful on some of these".  I mean, HUGE difference between SS & my headphones verses on a cd in a decent stereo.

Which is the main reason, I'm gonna literally KILL Odie if he doesn't quit saving my songs on his PC:) haha.

Ouch! That's kinda harsh punishment!  LOL  Well, at least I wouldn't have to worry anymore about paying off old credit card debt!

I've often found that recording through headphones whether its vocals or instruments can be deceiving when it comes to pitch. Headphones are great for hearing subtle details, but pitch can be tricky.  I don't have an explanation for it though -- it's some kind of audio illusion.

I never mixdown anything with headphones because it will never sound the same through a good speaker. Do your mixdown and editing through speakers only that way it will sound the same in your sound system or car stereo. Also dont ever do a live mix through headphones your main mix will sound horrible. Headphones are only good for certian things like listening to solo tracks etc. I did a sound check with a band years ago though headphones and it sounded great , till I took them off then I had to remix all over agian. I did that once but never agian. At my shows either karaoke or live band situations I leave my Phones at home.
