Hello guys!
I'm looking for songs that are about "Dreams Becoming Reality" or "Dream 2 Reality" It is such an open theme but for example it can be of someone dreaming of a love and it finally becoming real... or the dream of being a singer coming true... or the life of a baller coming true... etc.
They can be ballads or uptempos, and I'm a guy btw. :oh yeah: I'm an amateur tenor so I sing mostly up to a high G#, for comfort.
Please post as many suggestions as you can think of. Thanks! :D
Oh... It's not absolutely necessary it have the word dream in title. :dancin:

"You Stepped Out of a Dream", "Dancing on the Ceiling", "Deep in a Dream"...all old standards about dreams taking on reality.

I know "Deep in a Dream" was sung by Helen Forrest with the Artie Shaw Orchestra and is easy to find in any CD collections of his. Frank Sinatra had the best recording of "Dancing on the Ceiling" (one of his very best and least known but is available on CD). "You Stepped Out of Dream" was performed by numerous people, but Nat King Cole and another version by Sarah Vaughan are the best I remember hearing. Hope that helps you!
I'd say of the three songs the latter two are the prettiest and probably most in line with what you are looking for. Hope this helps you!

Oh! I just remembered another one and it's funny because I just submitted this song done by myself on SS a few nights ago, "Did you Ever See a Dream Walking?" by Bing Crosby. It's a classic.

^ DAMN! You're good! You would happen to be able to PM me any songs would you?
By the way, since you seem to know so much about music i'm assuming you must be a good singer. Do you know of any good vocal instruction CD's or programs for male voices? I know I'm a tenor but I have trouble singing above a G#. I sing a lot of ballads.... my favorite song and the one I sing the best happens to be "At this Moment" by Billy Vera. Love tha song! I wish there were real, talented male singers today, but there really aren't any great male voices out there. Or maybe I need to expand my musical listening? I love Michael Buble and Marc Anthony.

Hi: Well, I take voice lessons but a book I found really helpful, especially when beginning all this was--what else? "Singing for Dummies". Much of what I learned in there my instructor taught me later so I know it's "kosher". They also have a disc included which helps learn vocal exercises, etc. There are some very good male singers on SS you should listen to, including myself (ahem), Dofa, Pugsley's Dad, DTTB and several others who do a lot of the "standards" and older songs.
Alas, I do not have any of those songs available to send you but I'm pretty sure all of these songs can be found on !Tunes. They charge $.99 per download.
You probably are a counter-tenor as I am, which means we can't sing anything--just kidding! Take care,
Michael

what do you mean we can't sing anything?
I took a voice lesson and the instructor said I could learn to sing like the guy from Journey, but that I need to learn to mix my chest with my head. I just don't like it because it sounds so weak, and it's easier to go back to sing how I like it. ! LOL

What was the title of the song.
I like dreaming, cuz dreaming can make you mine
I like dreaming, closing my eyes, and feeling fine
and when the lights go down
I hold you in my arms.
Chorus;
Oh, Sweat dreams baby I love you
(something like that...It's old)
Also
Dream Weaver - Gary Wright
All I have to do is dream- Everly Bros.
You've been talking in your sleep (is that Crystal Gayle?)

Thanks to everyone for their help!
If you guys can think of any songs without the word "dream" in the title that would be awesome! :need hug: I say that because I'm sure many of the contestants will go that way, of finding the theme in the song title... but I want to have it more in the lyrical content.
I got these other suggestions from some friends.
"For Once in my life" - The dream of finding someone finally came true
"A moment like this"
"Vision of Love" - This song is about Mariah's dream of becoming a singer finally coing true and she's thanking God.
If you guys can think of songs like the above that would be great.
The reason I need to come up with the songs is because I'm going to be in a show. I auditioned for a local talent show, and out of the 100 contestants I made the final 10. The theme of the entire show will be "Dreams 2 Reality," kinda going along the lines of the fact that through this event our dreams are coming true. The songs can be about love or anything really... but it has to somehow reflect that theme.
I was thinking about "When you wish upon star" but don't know since it's a Disney song but I think that the song has potential. I will be singing with a live band.

I'm not suggesting this would necessarily fit your voice (or image), but one that came immediately to mind is Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time." I've sung it a few times at home. I imagine it would be disorienting coming from a male voice and I probably wouldn't do it in public except by request or on a genderbender night (I hear they have those, but I've never seen one).

Yes, I have the karaoke version (it's on the Supercore starter set).
"Genderbenders" are where a male sings a song originally sung by a female, or vice versa. The few times I've sung genderbenders at karaoke I always get a couple of wisenheimers who yell out, "that's a girl song!" from somewhere in the back of the bar.

On some Kamikaze Karaoke, I had to sing Weathergirls "It's Raining Men" from which I changed "Men" to "Things" as I had previously heard from a comedian on a radio. So still doing a female song with nothing female about it.
