Well,  I'm also a victim (as are most of us at some point) of our gosh dang Western cultures superficial values.  As you know,  Turn on TV, look anywhere, it's all about vanity, money, power, etc...  I think it sucks..  BUt after-all, I did mention "Rogaine" so I'd be lying to not admit to some degree of vanity.

Might be an interesting different thread.  But how does one learn to transcend the BS shallow values of ones culture, and say to #(( with it, when we grow up with constant media selling appearance, wealth, and power as aspects of life one should strive for ?

On one side,  you hear "Don't judge the book by it's cover",  or "It's what's inside a person that counts".... but that's alot of lip service... Westerners do initially judge the book by the cover, and older unattractive people get tossed out in our culture that caters more towards the young, stronger, and better looking as well as wealthier folks having a social life,  fun, and oppurtunity ?

Sort've like... When you get older, more frail, and less attractive in Western culture, fewer want you.  This culture is for the young, more attractive, and stronger folks..  is it not ?   It's a "throw away" culture...  meaning,  if something get's in the way,  discard it.  Sad, but true

Sure they can handle hot...just don't go crazy and boil 'em or nuttin'.  If you are worried about melting them, then fer sure DON'T put them in the dishwasher!!  I have boiled water and THEN poured it onto my brushes in the sink with no problems.  The dish soap is the trick I think....cos it's MEANT to cut through greasy crud...the problem is finding the correct scrubbing method to get in between the bristles if you are having problems with them breaking off.

Use nano technology. Little metal buggers, they can clean anything.

Steven, use your brush to clean your comb- and your comb to clean your brush.

Icky black crud clogging it up? What the hell are you doing, brushing it ONLY when it hasn't been washed for a week or so?  LMAO Or are you using Dapper Dan hair pomade..... to try & catch a lady? (some gals like the bedhead "just woke up" look, so bear that in mind when you start primping)

I'd have to say like some of the others, really, what's a hairbrush nowadays, $4? Buy a new one if they get cruddy.... If I had an icky one, and started to clean it out and it looked all mucky, I'd get grossed out and toss it most likely. Maybe if you rinse it out each time after using it, that would help keep it new looking:)

Yep,  I was putting them in the bathub in lukewarm water, using some shampoo or handsoap, and just letting them sit,  it did virtually nothing.

Did I say that ?  :shock:    I hope I didn't.  It's a white residue, likely from the alcohol in the minoxydil, and skin oils.  The black residue is mildew.  That's only the jackets and ties I throw on the floor around the toilet.  Let's not alter facts here, lest people think I'm unkempt.  

(looking for plunger to retrieve spam sandwich from toilet, clogged the dang thing and there's another flood)

personally i use a air hose with a very big compressor, i feel 250lb of air does it....l...how ya been my friend?  got exciting news for you....ok its for me but u might like it to....ll...

BTW..

Sinnamon,  I just ran hot water into the tub.. Probably around 130 degree's at least. Used the Dishwashing soap, and let it sit in that..  It worked better than the shampoo, or handsoap (and just warm water)...  I didn't know there was much of a difference in soap potency or anything like that, I don't know squat about what soaps cut thru what... I figured they were all about the same... I guess I was using too mild a soap and needed really hot water to get that gunk out..  Thanks, ALOT of we guys don't know about this soap stuff..  MOST have enough common sense not to divulge that they don't know it in an open venue .  Me ? .. Couldn't care less if people know I don't have a wife to wash my brushes, clothing, and just never gave it thought prior to a few days back..

Sure it's a goofy question..  Sue me

Doesn't work for this problem Charmin,  Works for getting hair out, and larger stuff out've the bristles, but not the white residue from alcohols that coats bristles, and brush surfaces.  Also the Layering, Smoothing, and styling/shaping brushes often have those ball ended nylon bristles...  I can't use a comb,  hair is too thick for that.
You think I only have a few brushes ?   Sheeesh,  I have all sorts of them, I'm a high maintenance princess !!.  Tossed out the blow drying brushes ages ago... Also the circular brushes for countering natural wave... Trained the hair just like I've wanted too...  (I cut my own too)...Have been doing so since I got off the road.  Use positive image mirrors, and 3-way systems to do it...

OK,  you didn't hear any of this from me...  Guy's don't talk like this after-all !!!!!

Hey ?  On a different note: Any opinions of Dyson, vs Miele vs Kirby vs, Oreck ?  I can't stand electrolux, you have to schlep that damn cannister around and they don't make them like metal tanks anymore...  Why the heck would anyone want a cumbersome cannister vacuum ?  I don't care about the beater brush head... My vacuums are the Kirby G-3 and Kirby G-4..  Yep,  they are pretty heavy,  but they are solid, and I live on on floor...  I use one as a cannister vac for dusting, and the other as the upright.

he seems to need to use vacuuming as therapy. There was a time I would studiously vacuum every day. Then he would come home and do it over again...I felt the need to take a back seat, who am I to spoil his fun?

I just have to say I love this forum ! We have talked about how to clean Kappy's hair brush for 2 pages now and no one has complained. Woo hoo ! A little scary - but Woo Hoo !
