I ordered a bunch of Rock cdgs by SC and am pretty disappointed. I have Bon Jovi on both SC and on Legends and legends is clearly better. This is also the same with Guns N Roses and most of the rock that I ordered. I had the same songs of some of the rock on Legends disks and found them to sound better and more closely to the original. Example is SC Knocking on Heavens Door. When they made the disk they sang all the way through the disk, and it sounds nothing like GNR and it messes the whole song up. Dont get me wrong, I have some SC that are awesome, but it seems they dont get rock, or atleast this rock, right. So my question is this, in all of your experiences, which are more years than I, can you reccomend a real good company that makes good rock disks? Thank you all!

I use Legends, Sunfly and Zoom, but then I'm a huge british rock fan and these folks in particular Sunfly and Zoom really do it up right. I have the Aerosmith SoundChoice and the more I hear it, the less I like it. One exception is the Judas Priest disc and it fockin rocks. I like the Dangerous series for some of their classic rock tunes. As for Legends, I have the Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zepplin, and the Morrisette/Crow/Etheridge disc and they're all good in my personal opinion. I have the Radio Starz Black Sabbath, and it's pretty dayum good. But honestly, it's gonna be hit and miss on some stuff with any company you go with. I don't know any company that does it right a 100% of the time, or should I say, I haven't heard one yet. But that's just my opinion.

It's all subjective to opinion, I prefer Sound Choice over most - most of the time - the specific songs you listed, I personally think SC did the better job over the other brands mentioned & have never had a complaint.

I usually find the instrumentals on SoundChoice to be the best and truest for rock, and I like Chartbuster for country.

As a singer, though, I often like Legends and DK better because they usually seem to have a guide melody that, while maybe not being on the original music, makes it easier to sing. 8-)

I usually stick with SC but have recently bought a couple from Radio Starz that have been exceptionally good. I bought the Alanis Morisette one & the John Lennon Anthology one Im very happy that they are in a decent price range and sound great . I dont like backings with sythesizers for guitars b/c its hard to get a feel for the song with that in your ear. I like the track to be as close to the original as possible. I also like pioneer for the older rock.. They in my opinion are the best for the older stuff. It might just be that I like it b/c thats what I learned to sing karaoke on too.

I agrre with LON on this on.  Overal I find that SC is the best for rock CDGs.  Yes, I have found some othere prands that have some songs that are "better" than the SC versions, but overall, I find SC rock to be the best.

The DG version of Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here", is by FAR better than anyother mfgs version.

I will have to check out some of the other brands. I just hate spending 20+ a disk for music I wont use, and the company wont take them back. The biggest problem I have with the sc disk, is the GNR Knocking on Heavens Door. I sing this song, and when I try to sing this one there is the singer in the background singing way off key. And this throws me off key as well.

Dangerous is a great brand - highly under rated by many kj's.

I bought some dangerous disks, and they seem quite adequate.

I have every disk that Dangerous that they made. I think they are very good and sometimes have some titles that are hard to find on other labels.

I agree that some most of the time sound choice is best on rock. Although some of the Pioneer CDGs were really good as well. Most of the tracks are the same ones they used on their Laser Discs...and most of those were very accurate to the original tracks. The only drawback I found with these discs is they were recorded at a lower volume level so you have to adjust your gain 1/3rd higher than most discs. But I sure like them.

I would agree that SC do make good rock cdg's but I still believe that the best rock cdg I heard so far came from Legend, it's the Boston LG 107, never heard a SC sound has good, including their Eagles album!  I found SC to sound to karaoke, poor mastering, it's often hard to get a good mix compare to Pocket song where the music often sounds less electronic!  overall for karaoke you can't go wrong with SC but I wouldn't bring one of their tracks in a studio and hopping to get a good result!

If you like classic rock, specially the british bands, check out Zoom. I like their discs on how they sound in general. I don't think they have a large selection of songs but worth a look.
