Nope, but that is an easy mistake.

If you do go the route of using an external amp with your existing mixing amp, then you would just be using the mixer portion of the mixing amp and bypassing the amp portion in favor of your new amp. Basically the amps that are included in your mixing amp would be totally bypassed.

Each "amp" actually has two amps inside, one that powers each speaker. I think Lonman said the power of your existing mixing amp is 120 watts per channel at 8 ohms. That means that there are TWO 120 watt amplifiers in the box, one to power each speaker. If you BRIDGE the two amps, then you are sending all of that power to one speaker, so the ONE speaker is getting 240 watts. THAT is bridging.

Honestly, if you are going to buy a new amp, you probably just want to forget about your mixing amp and either sell it or use it for your personal use. You can get a pretty decent 6 channel mixer that will suit your karaoke purposed jsut fine for around $50-100, and it will be 1/10th the size of your mixing amp, so it will be well worth the extra $$ in terms of carrying it around, using it, and storing it. Something like this will work as well, if not better, than the mixing portion of your existing mixing amp:

That's the direction I would go if you are going to get an external amp to properly drive your speakers.

ok....
so that is a good deal on the mixer....
then i need a decent amp too right?
so for about 400-500- i can get a decent amp to go with the mixer?
i hope you guys are not getting tired of my stupid questions ...but where is the eqaluizer on that mixer?
my husband said that is the eqaulizer....?????
i see the adjustments for each of the mic inputs...but there is no eq that i see?
i know in my opinion that all the set ups i have seen have all that stuff seperate ...and they rock...at least the amp is seperate anyway...
btw ...i got my behringer speakers hooked up today and the amp is NO WAY big enuff...would barely push the sound through it....
so the old speakers i had ( the no name 15") were obviously on like 175-200 watts...
ater i put the other speakers on my samson ...i swear to god ...looked at me and said "WHAT THE HE!! ARE YOU DOING?"

If you got an amp to plug into the Pre-amp out on your mixer - this is not bridging, you would only get 1 channel UNLESS your intention was to bridge the amp in which you would need to hook the amp specifically up that way.  Some amps nowdays have an actual 'bridge' output, most amps you need to actually wire the speaker end to connect to the terminals for bridging.    

An amp I love & recommend is the Carvin DCM series only available through carvin.com.  These amps have the bridged output, they also have what's called a parrallel input switch in which you can take your 1 output, put it in one channel input of the amp & hit the switch, now you have that same signla in both channels - again, this is still not bridging, but splitting the signal so you can utilize both channels.  The DCM2000 would be a perfect match for those B215's btw.

There is NO EQ on that mixer besides each channels hi/mid/low twisty.

You would have to purchase an external EQ if you want one if you use that mixer.

Also, by using a 2 channel eq, you would be able to eq each speaker differently if needed.  Basically it would be a eq for eqach speaker.

that  would be cool...being able to equalize each speaker indivually.....never even knew you could do that....

if you going with behringer mixer/eq/speakers, you mght as well go with a behringer amp....

Well if you go with the Behringer (wince) sorry Twan, go with the EP2500, it will be a better match for those speakers.

The EP2500 pushes 450 watts per channel, good match for the B215.

Actually this is a better line for Samson, not that they are are the best either, but I would choose them over Behringer - unless you want to keep the name the same all the way down the line.

ok ...i hate to ask this ...but everyone keeps talking about crossovers..
what IS a crossover?
do i have to have one of those?
btw....
i am going to go with the cheapest amp i can find right now....and that might mean i have to rent one for now.....
maybe when i get to the rental place the guy will talk me into a different one..
i really dont care what the brand is as long as it gets the job done....

A crossover is a little electronic gizmo that discriminats one sound frquency from another and sends it to the right speaker inside the cabinate.  Ususally you don't have to worry about it from a consumer's standpoint.

I suggest that you don't buy junk.  A little Mackie mixer and a Crown power amp will last forever and save you a lot of headaches and.... retain their resale value.
