I hope I am not being a pest with all the questions, Anyways, I have a computer with 2 hard drives, an 80 gig sata and a 300 gig ide. Anyways, if I were you all, how would this be setup for best performance. Currently I have everything on one drive,
(360) and it is bogging down terribly. I am using winamp and sack o nuts. I am thinking that I need to put windows on one drive and all the music on the other? Thanks a ton!

Right now I have a 160 gig sata on the main system.. Another 160 I can usb with (music on both) for backup.. Then I can use the usb on the laptop for backup.. There used to be time when it was best to have OS on one and music on the other but with the speed of comps and hard drives now it really isnt necsessary.. Your bogging down isnt a hard drive problem it is low resources llow ram or virtual memory and a comp that needs tuning and getting rid of the processes not necessary..Without knowing all the parameters I cant advise you specifically But offer an opinion on the hard drive issue..

For me, I do it for ease of use.  Say for some unknow reason your OS crased, and you had to re-install.  Easir to do, if you have your music on a seperate drive.

Also, if you happend to upgrade to a different computer, just move the hard drive over, and there ya have it.

I think it just makes life easier!!!!

All my home PCs have 2 hard drives in them, one for OS and programs, and one for all my data.

I agree. it's not a hard drive problem.  You have something running that is eating up a lot of clock cycles.  You could also use some more RAM.  I think that less than a gig with XP is asking for trouble.  My two cents worth.

You might also consider moving to another hosting program.  Sacks-O-Nuts is going bye bye at the end of the week.

I know... I like using it so far. I am going to use it in a party environment next week. For a pretty much free program, this things seems to be great!

Don't panic!  (As they say in the Hitchhiker's Guide)  SON is not going to stop working or anything like that.  It's just getting a little old and updating the current code is not practical.  Turning it into beg-ware turned out to be a really bad idea from a support standpoint.  However, if you are using Sacks-O-Nuts it should continue on it's merry little way forever just fine.  Registered users can still e-mail me for support so.... Don't panic.

SO ya will still be able to download it?  BUt you are just not going to further develop or support it anymore (cept for registered users)?

I have tured on a few of my followers to SON whn they as for a cheap way to setup a home PC karaoke, and then I usualy get asked the questions of how to do this and that.  SHouldn't ya be paying me for being a techie for you?  I can fake a Indian' accent...LOL

Thanks for the help I didn't know I was getting.  You can handle all of the tech support if you like (practice you accent!)

After Friday all the download sites will be gone.  Only the SON home page is left now.  So, get it or forget it 'cause it's gonna be gone.
