I don't feel I have to spend, of course. But I do, because I want to support karaoke and want to keep it there. If I didn't care if it stuck around, I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, isn't it good to have a *couple* of decent singers? Having all lousy singers is a turnoff on a sustained basis, I would think. Not that I know -- I am not a host and have only been doing karaoke for a year or so.

PC, if the bartenders are the only ones making tips (income) the bar owner is not.    He has to make the income before he can pay bartenders and KJs.   So what is the contradiction.

The bar owner (not bartender) has to make a nice steady profit to survive.   The bartender isn't paying for the KJ to be there.   THe bar owner is paying for the bartender to be there.    Who does that leave?    THE BAR OWNER IS THE MAIN PERSON THAT NEEDS TO MAKE A PROFIT TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE CHEAP BASTURDS WITH THEIR FREE ENTERTAINMENT.

The statement about all the non drinkers showing up on the same night was for Babs.

I know that Bigdog. But usually, a drink is bought before the bartender is tipped.....right?
Or do you mean that whomever drinks $2.50 or $3.50 beers is cheap, and that we should be drinking all Jaegerbombs at $5.00 each?
No thanks to the multiple Jaegerbombs for me man...that stuff is deadly. At the hospital where my wife worked, a young guy died from drinking too many of those.
Really, I don't know who can sing while stuffing their face full of food either? Maybe an hour or so before the show starts?
I guess I'm guilty of not supporting the bar owner by tipping the kj too. I just do that because the bar owner might not be playing fair with the kj.

The bar owner should really risk raising all prices if he's worried that the hired help is reaping all of the financial benefits.

Oh, I know your statement was to Babs....I thought it was funny. Did she really rack your brain there?  LMAO

Dude, I'm just pullin' your chain because it seems like you're all riled up. I don't know you, so I can't judge where you're coming from.
Why don't you tell everyone who and where you're located? :)

Every quality singer in the world would be stuffing my gigs.   That would leave every hack in the world unemployed.   Thus killing an entire industry.

I hide to save karaoke for the world.   :O  You included.

That makes me a wonderful humanitarian.

I know that would be a tough decision to make now.....your big unveiling.

Now see, if you would've started from go playing Mr. nice guy, nice people would've wanted to see your show.

I don't think an unveiling is really a good idea now.

You never know....some cheap bast*rds here might have some deep, discounted airfare tickets. LOL

BD - I get ya, you're saying please support your bar by purchasing something.
(in your own dog way   )

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that. I am guilty of going to karaoke and just buying coffee. I don't know what to tell you, I don't drink alcohol. The problem is most places I used to haunt would not charge me for soda or coffee. That is why I always tried to leave a good tip. Obviously these bars were doing well enough not to worry about giving a regular fee drinks.

In my experience nondrinkers haven't been a problem. I don't think I have ever seen someone come into the bar for karaoke and not at least buy a couple sodas.

Okay lets say you have one or two people come in on a regular basis that don't spend a cent ever. (odd, but I guess it could happen) Is that going to put the bar out of business - I think not. Should you try and at least buy something, of course.

So what are we arguing about?

Bigdog @ Thu Nov 30, 2006 6:02 pm wrote:
The people that do not buy anything are taking advantage of the bar owner.   He pays for the entertainment.   You pay him for having it.    SUPPORT the Bar owner.    BUY something ya cheap Bas-turds.

Leaving a big tip does nothing to help the bar owners income.   You made the bartenders day, but screwed the bar owner.   And sang for free.

LMAO I've never been called a cheap bas-turd before. I'm not sure how to react. It's kind of funny sounding. Bas turd - is that fish doo doo  LMAO

I'm not sorry I don't drink alcohol and I'm not sorry if the bartender wants to give me my drinks for free.

You better start playing nice or I am telling Santa Claus on you  LMAO

Hey Johnny! Where the heck ya been hidin'?

I'm sorry I made that remark a while back....I hope It didn't embarrass you. Your enthusiasm kind of reminded me of myself though. LOL

I think I've been a bit smitten myself for a long time now, and it's not good because I feel changed. Don't get me wrong now....no monkey business going on. Just two people from different worlds, with different lives.......it's a bit depressing, so I drink, and try to stay happy.

Karaoke has definitely changed my outlook on life...what's good...what's bad....what's in-between. I just hope I don't die from a broken heart. If not, my wife will surely kill me if she ever reads this.  LMAO  LMAO  LMAO
