Oh there will be Hogs a plenty riding in the towns Annual Christmas parade.
Only problem is folks would be saying,'Hey that's not Santa Claus, that's that Karaoke guy'....
During December we will be doing a fund raiser for a fellow biker who's strapped for funds because of medical bills. It was only a couple of months ago, he himself did a rally for a friend, only to find out that same week that he also had the same disease as the person we were doing the rally for at the time.
I will also be Santa's Helper at the Senior Center when we let the Head Start kids come over for their presents. The Center also works in conjunction with the Countys Sheriff Dept. on assisting needy families with Christmas, which our goal this year is to provide Christmas gifts for 300 families. I also try to go through my closets during this time of year and make a donation to the Daily Bread Store which is our local version of a GoodWill. Plus there are countless food drops throughout the area which I at least try to drop a can or two in each one. That's the one thing about poverty, it knows no color, no age limit, no educational background, no religion, it doesn't discriminate against anyone. It can strike at a moments notice, and the children are the ones who pay the biggest price.
At my show tomorrow night, I will be on my soapbox to folks about getting out and sharing during this time of year. If every person at one of your shows made the simple gesture of donating a little something, imagine what an impact that would make. Think about it, for the price of a picture of beer and a pack of smokes, you could feed a family at a local shelter. You can take it upon yourself to sponsor a charity group. Put out a tip jar and donate the money. Do a show where everyone who sings donates a dollar or two, just imagine how much you could raise in a single night. Do the show, collect the money, drop off the cash, bingo, you've made a difference. It's as simple as that.
I'll hush for now, I'm not trying to use the guilt trip to get folks to take action, I just wanted to show you how easy it is incase you do decide to do something.
Just like the dipdot idea, the gift is not from me, it's from you folks, you're the ones making it happen. Something so simple that will mean so much and all it basically cost you is the price of a postage stamp and a little bit of your time.
Again I thank you.

James, since I haven't been able to get out of town, I called my niece 2 days ago who lives close to there. She is supposed to be going there this afternoon, then bringing it to me. So, cross your fingers they have them. (the other HD place is not too far, just a bit farther up north, if this place fails)
Anyways, if all goes well, I should have mine in the mail to ya this week:)

You know James, I'll bet if you really wanted to go all out on this, You could send a SASE to dealers in all 50 and let them know what you're doing. You'd get plenty that way I'm sure!

Whoa, now that is a heck of a thought. But of course that is a lot of hit and miss depending on if they have them in stock. But I do have the directory and unlimited minutes on my cell so I could call in advance. Thanks ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

WOOHOOO, got a dipdot from Isis this morning. Thank you so much.
So as we head down the wire the total stands at:
Total dipdots-
Texas-4
Tenn.-2
Alaska-1
Colorado-1
Illinois-1
for a total of 9 dipdots.
I'm still waiting for one other package from another KS sweetie, so that should make it an even 10.
Again, thanks to everyone of you for your time, effort and support. This is gonna make a great gift but of course it couldn't have happen without you folks, so again I thank you.
James

Mine has started it's slow treck from Oregon, headed that way:) It's from Paradise Harley in Tigard. (pretty cool looking little things)
Please let me know when you get it James, so I know it made it. (seems the mail gets too messed up this time of year)
I did put it in one of those cushy envelopes though, rather than a regular one, so it would be *safer*, and stand a better chance of getting there without being lost.

Thanks again Blue, I'll let ya know as soon as I get it.
Not a problem Morgan, I understand.
I think 10 is a very respectable number to give to my brother.
Again thanks to everyone for their help and support. I think my brother will be floored at this gift, especially since it will be coming via me from total strangers. For years my brother lived in what I felt was a very withdrawn world, never socialized, not that many close friends. But since I've introduced him to the world of motorcycles, he has a whole new outlook on life. He gets out almost every weekend and goes riding with folks that I've introduced him to. He gets involved with charity events and rallies now. It's good to see him finally come out of his shell. Especially since my involvement with Karaoke takes up so much of my time now, even more so on the weekends. So see, like I said, it's not the gift itself that means so much, it's the thought and efforts behind it that are what really count. It gets us back to the simple things, the basics, what truly matters most during this time of year, friends and family.
Tomorrow, I get to go play Santa's helper for the Headstart children. The kids can't have any kind of Christmas celebration at the school, so we bring them over to the Senior Center. How ironic that they can have Kwanza and Hanukkah decorations up, but put one mention of Christ, and you've got a lawsuit on your hands. And trust me, I have no problems with the recognition of others beliefs, but shouldn't my beliefs be just as valid? But that's another topic for another soapbox. I'm just glad that we can do something for the kids. Thank goodness they are still young and naive about all the crap that adults bicker and argue about. So let's let them enjoy their time while they can.
Thanks again,
James

Oregon is in the house, thanks to Charmin, you're a sweetheart, I really appreciate it and I know my brother will too.
Well I guess that pretty much wraps up the dipdots from KS. Again I want to thank everyone that sent one. You're gesture was indeed an act of kindness on your part, and I am deeply indebted to each and everyone of you. I know my brother will be very pleased with this gift, as it shows that there comes a time in our lives when we least expect it wonderful things can happen. Sometimes these things come in the generous and thoughtfulness of strangers. I hope that as your holidays approach that you too can also feel the joy of receiving such a gift. But knowing as I do, sometimes the giving is joy enough.
Again, thank you so much for helping me make this happen, without you it would have been just a thought, but through your efforts a thought and a dream become real.

James,
I'm sorry didn't read this thread until now! What a loser! I thoughtit was regarding something else and didn't bother to read.
I have a Harley Store here in Balt. I'll drop by this next week and see if i can get one. If so I'll send it to you so you can give it to your brother as a late holiday gift or wait until his birthday.
Just let me know, if you still would like it...

Thanks folks. One rule of thumb when it comes to bikers, it's never to late or too early to receive a gift...
Yes if you have access to a store and they don't charge you for it, please feel free to pick one up. I can always stockpile them for another day. He received one today from a buddy in West Virginia that he met during Biketoberfest, which was very cool.
What he does is hit the Harley stores in our area, gets as many as he can and trades with guys when we go to rallies and stuff. I think it's very cool, he's got his own little barter thing going on.
And while the subject of dipdots has arisen again in another thread, let me also post it here. I deeply apologize to everyone for not posting comments about his reaction to the gifts from you folks. All the Christmas parties and gigs have left me somewhat braindead. But your gifts were very well received and greatly appreciated. My brother sends his thanks to each of you, as I do.
But yes, if the urge strikes, please feel free to keep sending them. My brother and myself are from very simple backgrounds, it's the gift from the heart that means the most to us.
Thanks again,
James

James, did you get any from Oklahoma? I think we can round up a couple of them next time we go up there.
I should have considered sending an extra dot for you as well as the one for your brother.

Sure man, if it's convenient go for it. And don't worry about getting an extra for me, the way Harley is lately, I think you'll do good just to get the one, but thank you just the same for the offer.
