OK, i've been looking up info for days and throwing away discs. I've tried burning files from hard drive by converting with mp3Tools and then burning with cdrwin. I've also tried using power cd-g burner.

Every time is says burning is successful but all I end up with are these tiny files that won't open with anything. I don't know if I'm burning them wrong or if the software player im using just wont recognize them. I've tried countless players.

For reference, A friend who is getting started doing karaoke has asked me to take her cd-g's and make up some better compilation discs. I only have one drive so i have to rip to my hard drive first, and those ripped files do work in the software players.

hans... first of all, what type of o.s. are you using, what type of burner, does cdrwin (what version) recognize the burner (probably does, but this is the kinda information we need...)

you're ripping the .bin files?

go to karaokebuilder.com and download their free .bin (.cdg too) player. Before burning the disc, make certain that they ripped right!

you say that it's creating a disc with nothng or small files? Maybe that's the pc not recognizing the finished product.

What I always do after burning a disc, is rerip it, either with cdrwin or with audiograbber... then I can play them on my computer and see if they burned right.

Im using Win XP. I have an HP dvd840e for my burner. I am ripiing with power cd-g burner/ripper.

I have used cdrwin as well, and all programs recognize the burner.

And finally...I re-ripped what I thought was basically a blank cd and the files were all good. Apparently I've been throwing away good discs. good thing cd-r's are cheap. I'll have to bring them to her to check them out this friday.

I use audiograbber. This works great, it also has a freedb which grabs the names of the songs for you as well. Give this program a try it works easy!

I am a bit confused on what you are trying to do. I use Power CD+G burner program without any problems. I am using WinXP with an external Yahama burner and I am able to play burned disc at all the usual Karaoke spots on players without any problems.

First, what software are you using to play the CD+G discs? Have you tried to use Power Karaoke player? You can demo them for a period. I would try to lower your burning speed on your machine. I would also check to see if your burner supports CD+G format burning. Not all CD burners will support it. I know most people use Plextor burner because they support the CD+G format. My Yahama works fine and I know there are others. Lastly, I would try to play the disc on a hardware player, not software. That way you know for sure the CD+G has been burned correctly.

what I suspected was the computer when seeing the cdrom drive and the contents via windows explorer showed the tracks all with 1kb...

that's common.

As I said, I use audiograbber to rip either one or all of the tracks to assure not only that they ripped, but the ORDER in which they ripped.

Yes, I think that's exactly what was happening. I'm glad I possted here...apparently the discs i was making were probably good and I just never brought them to my friend to try. I'll know for sure on Friday.

I've got a question concerning this. When I go to use audiograbber to burn the CDG's it says it can only burn them at 56kbs. This is unsatisfactory for good sound is'nt it? I believe from the threads that I've read that I need a minimum of 192kbs for quality recording with minimum sound distortion. Should'nt the slower burn produce better sound?

To upgrade the speed of the burn it reccomends the lame mp3 upgrade for speeds up to 300kbs. I've downloaded the lame, but its a zip file, so I'm in the process of getting a version of winamp to unzip the file.

All the hoops you have to jump through, it sure is confusing.

your confusing your terms....you are ripping a CDG, wich means extracting the info from the CD and sotring it on your computer.

If you are BURNING a CD, you are putting data on the disc.

Try usinging WINZIP not winamp to unzip the lame encoder.

And yes, 56kbps is not good enough to run a show, at least 192kbps or above is necessary.

yes, you need to go into the mp3 options tab and change the bitrate at which it rips.

Just unzip and place the lame_enc.dll into your audiograbber folder, then under mp3 settings you can change the bitrate. Good luck! I would have never known this without these great people here!

Allright, it worked! Thanks you guys!! Was able to change the bitrate to 192kbs easily. Now need to burn to computer as MP3's.

I misprinted earlier Twansenne, I meant winzip.

Now if I could just get graphics back to WinamPRO I'll be set.
