CANT YOU HER THE SHIRLL SCREECHING AND EVERY HIGHER PITCH OF HIS VOICE COMING THORUGH!!????
The only shrill screeching I hear is coming from the cages in my basement But that's another story for another day.
Actually the Screeching I hear is my editor constantly beotching at me at how sloppy my grammers gotten lately because I spend so much time on the web instead of concentrating on my work. He keeps talking about deadlines, I keep telling him-
We don't need no stinkin dealines
Some folks just don't have a sense of humor.

WOW!! All the terrific Karoake Host that I know would NEVER be posting on a board like this while they were working...They'd be too busy hosting their show..Paying attention to the sound quality of the singer on stage and getting the next singer cue'd up for their turn at BEING THE STAR!!! IMO posting on a board while one is working is NOT professional at all....I would leave that show in a heartbeat and NEVER return!!!
And how dare you call a customer/singer a jerk!!!! That is just rude and mean and vicious!!!! I see no humor in that at all!!!

Well, he has earned the level of respect he gets from us based on the level of respect he gives to us. If his show is a success, good for him, but I'm tired of listening to the same story over and over. I define "the best" differently--I base it on MY opinion, not his.

i forgot what this thread was suppose to be about, however....
IMO, as a kj, i do not get involved in the "politics" of the bar, ie changing toilet paper/paper towel rolls, i run the show. that is what the bar owner pays me for. if the bar owner owns the equipment, then i am his employee and must do what he says because he is the boss; if however, i own the equipment the i am my own boss and am under contract with the bar owner to provide the best service i can.
in both cases, it is about the customer. period. if you make the person feel like someone special, they will be back. the reason most people do karaoke is to feel appreciated. ie; the applause they get when they finish the song.
karaoke is about the singer. make the singer sound great (i know there are some people even a great system can't help) and they will tell their friends and soon you will have a full house. been there done that.
personally and professionally, it is not my business what the bar owner's expenses/business agenda is. i agree with MIB, my job is to put on the best show that i can as if it were my last.
someone in here seems to have their priorities wrong (little poodle boy). it is not about you, it is about the customer, because after all, without the customer we would not have karaoke.
bigjim, you do what you have to do to get your business going. everything is trial and error. i have worked at both a privately owned karaoke show and a bar owned karaoke show. neither one makes much of a difference to me. you have my utmost respect for thinking of your business first and also the way you have indicated you treat your customers. you will still be in business a year from now.
as far as all those fees, after a little while you will get that money back because you will have standing room only because you are so good!!!!
keep going and don't stop!! and if isis and i are in the area, we will stop by!!
