Chuck
Are you talking about 150w@8ohms each side ?
I admit I used on some smaller gigs a Behringer PMH2000 which is listed at 250w x 2 but at 4ohms - so the rating at 8ohms is in that area of 150watts each channel.
So for a small gig - this worked fine - I've used this with some Peavey PR12 mostly and on some occasion the Yamahas SV15 - As mis matched as that was.
Ideally for pro use you want MORE power than you think you need.
For most KJ'ing bar gigs a 1200watt amp pushing 300x2 @8ohms would suffice
with a good set of speakers. Always add a sub later to complete the sound
Lonnie tells you the way it SHOULD be done
Others tell you the way they THINK it should be done
AND some tell you the way it CAN be done.
YOU Chuck have to choose the correct path .................................

It's even worse than I thought. 45 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms. I've been runnning it at 4 ohms with a pair of 200wt Cerwin Vegas. Works pretty well for home use, never had it past half way up. For professional use I would need to start from scratch.
The best for me is to do it the way Lonman says just so all of my bases are covered. Using the wrong equipment could be more expensive in the long run.

AllStar...When I first came here years ago under the screen name dreamer1962...you and your wife were thought of as friends to me and I enjoyed your subs and your helpful comments that you made on my subs. I can hardly believe that you would say something that rude to me. The truth Tony is that I am not full of crap as you say I am, and I do know alot about alot of different things.
It was you Tony who helped me & encouraged me to improve my recordings, and I took your advice and it was very much appreciated. Back when you and your wife left this site for what ever the reasons were...I was one who thought of you two as friends, and I missed both of you & missed listening to your subs. If I remember correctly your subs always sounded top notch in my opinion and I was impressed that you took so much pride in what you were doing and that you were willing to help someone like me.
I am sorry that you feel this way about me Tony as I felt that I was only trying to help a friend in the same way that you had once helped me. I would rather try to give good advice if at all possible rather than let a friend waste alot of money on something that they might not be happy with.
If that makes me a bad person in your eyes then to me your the one with a problem not me.

Sigh. I know what we are getting for Christmas. LOL
My new mantra..."It's an investment, not an expense, it's an investment, not an expense..."
The advantage? Maybe we can leave the Alesis system set up permanently in the living room! (We don't have a house, we have a karaoke lounge/soap factory/candle factory with a kitchen and bedroom.)

Well its not really fair because I have two songs posted right now that anyone can listen to....My point that its not fair is because....If you think my recordings & my singing sounds Great!! Its because of Tony....as he is the one who helped me a long time ago.
Therefore if you think I sound good....Its Tony's fault because he helped me improve and therefore I owe all the credit to him...So in the end he wins anyway LOL
If it were not for Tony...My recordings & singing might still sound like a bad wreck!!!
Tony is saying that everything that comes out of my mouth is me me me me....But its Tony that gets the credit because his help produced my success :D
See .....Its not all about me me me me...Its actually about people like you you you you Tony  As for a singing duel,He still wins because I would not be where I am with out his help
Besides...I cannot out do the master....That would be like a white belt trying to beat his 5th degree black belt teacher....but then according to Tony I have a bloated ego....So I dont guess it matters...heck I can take a beating

Ok let me try to explain it.. I have been in the biggest clubs in London Mazatlan and ohthers ... I do not like the loud volume or heavy bass of disco type venues. When the music is hearting my ears I srcambling for somebody with filter cigarette to [put he filters in my ears.. I do not need to run my system at 100 spl so that every thing can be heard... I can play easy listening background and using the proper audio procs play At quaity ...Anybody can crank it to to a hard listening level it takes an audio man o present a level that is conducive to the audience
It seems evrybody on here sees the world in black on white and have a personal opinion Iwould suggest that all on here quit tryning to enforce their opinion on the newbies and show some tolerance .....

I've been reading this post and laughing my butt off. No offense meant, but that "room" is about three times the size of my "shed" ( 16x12). Every year I throw a "Karaoke Barbecue" for friends, family, and you've GOT to invite the neighbors. My system is very simple, ( simple is better). Crown 402 amp, 2 Sonic speakers on tri-pods, Gemini KM 707 mixer, DOD EQ, all that and guests on 1/4 acre. The people always tell me how clear the sound is, not BLASTING, especially for being outside. So...could you get away with 150 watts in that size room.....I'd bet yes.....it's no bigger than a small bar, think of it that way. I can't see the need for 1200watts with subs and overpriced speaker systems just because "some guy" tells you "YOU HAFTA HAVE THIS OR YOUR SOUND WILL S**K!!!" However, it must be known that I'm NOT diagreeing with Lonman. I am saying if you do the math for that size room, 150 watts would suffice, just be fussy about speaker PLACEMENT, that would be key. That's my !! Ok, I'm ready. Let the "little dogs" out and let the "fur" fly !!!

Quote: Is 150 watts total enough for a room at 30' by 60'?
Depends on whether you are using a small space-heater, how far you are seated from the space heater, or the layout and sizes of your baseboards, the temperatures outside, etc. Keep in mind, that most people are comfortable in rooms that are around 65-75 degrees F. Assuming you are just trying to keep yourself warm with a toaster oven, NEVER put it near the bathtub.. Reason being, if it isn't polarized with the laptop you are using while in the tub, you can get a shock... Also keep in mind that Toaster ovens draw alot of amps.. But all this aside, wattage can be an ambiguous concept. Efficiency, type of wattage, type of room, layout of room, speaker efficiency, furnishings that do or do not absorb sound, ceiling height, speaker placement ALL play a huge factor (only reason I mentioned speakers, is because if you happen to use them too close to the space heater they can burn).
