The guy I talked to that downloaded everything for me had said the mp3 part and the video parts of it all loaded so he didn't understand why it wasn't working. I really don't know anything about avi or mpeg. But everyone keeps saying cdg and mp3-g. I was just going off of what the guy was telling me so maybe he's messed up on what he was telling me. I'll have to find out about that. I really appreciate all of the help. Sorry if I haven't answered your questions right. I'm new to must of this stuff. Thank you for your patience.
I'm not really sure by what you mean by zip drive, thats new to me to.
You may have hard time getting help from this point on. Usually, the downloaded files are not legal and most of the people here make living doing Karoake host and they would like to stay legal for obvious reasons. If someone asks for help using illegal files, most people are much less likely to help. I understand that you are using this for home use only but downloaded files are not really kosher around here. I would think about asking help from the person who you got the files from.

Everything I have is paid for. So there is nothing illegal about what I have. I'm just trying to figure out how to run it now. What i'm trying to find out is how to run it on my computer. So if you can help me that would be great. If not, sorry to waste your time. Thank you all for your help.

Do you really READ those reply to your post? because if you did you would have figure it out by the 3rd or 4th posting in this thread.
Quote: Does your video card support dual display? Quote: Are you playing the file on the computer's hard drive, or off the cdg in the disc drive. That means you must have a winamp plugins for each type of use! To the above you response was: Quote: Yes, I am new to all of this and don't know much. I can get the screen to go to the second monitor. There's just no words there, but I can hear the music. Quote: I have winamp downloaded on my hard drive. I have the karaoke songs downloaded on an external hard drive. I can move the video screen from the computer monitor to the tv screen, but all I hear is music. The words don't show up. And it keep going on and on To this: Quote: I assume that you are using mp3+G files???????????? I assume you have the mp3+g plugin for winamp installed so it can play the files????
When you say"move the vidoe screen" what exactly does that mean? Do the lyrics show up on the main computer screen, and when you try to drag it over to the 2nd screen it disappears? We get this response from you: Quote: Ok, what i'm looking for is how to display the words for the Karaoke on winamp. I've played it on another system and it plays the video. I have the same winamp as the computer I played it on. I am playing it off of a external memory. My video card has the s-video jack for the TV out-put.So i'm not sure what i need to do to get the video to come up.

Just because you paid for them doesn't make them legal. I am not saying you have illegal copies, just saying that unless you downloaded from sources that is authorized, like SoundChoice site, it may be illegal. There are plenty of people who charge for songs which are illegally copied. Just be aware.

Thank you for your input but with the help of people that have patience, I got it going no thanks to people like you. Things I'm not sure of may take me awhile to figure out, but eventually I figure out what's going on. Like me, I'm sure when you first started you did not know everything there was to know. I hope that the people that helped you weren't as impatient as you! I'm sure that you caught on the first time they told you how to do something. Sorry your patience is so short. But thank you anyway.

you can be as snotty as you want, but many of us WERE trying to help! It's replies like this that makes people NOT want to help.
We asked and asked for more and more information, and you got more and more vague.
Since this is a nickel's worth of free advice, guess you get what you pay for. Personally, I've been on here for a few years and helped MANY people. Most of them listened to when we asked questions BACK.

Maybe someone can give chelsea some advice on how to start her own show with her downloaded (paid for) files, now that she knows how to access them?

knightshow,
I was not referring to you and if you were offended I do apologize. I was replying to Jian. I obviously do not know a whole lot about computers. If I got vague it was because I did not understand what I was being asked. If I did, then I pry would have figured it out by the 3rd or 4th posting. I will admit I am ignorant when it comes to this, but Jian had no reason to be so snide and try to make me feel stupid. I was already feeling bad that I was asking so many questions and not getting it. Yes, we did figure it out. No we don't need help getting shows we already do shows. We were wanting to do them without cds. As I stated I do appreciate everyone's help and patience, and again I apologize if you were offended. chelsey

you were asked by multiple people about what version of winamp you had. What plug-ins you had. You kept referring to another pc and that it worked there... we were trying to help you with the existing problem on the one pc.
All of this you never answered. You never mentioned what Operating system you were using on your pc, what type of video card, etc. Jian wasn't slamming you, he was trying to show you in quotes of your own and ours where he saw the confusion.
I wasn't offended, but I did respond in kind to your note.
So, I take it from your post before that now you've gotten the winamp issue resolved?

Matt said it for me.

Perhaps, this situation is the personification of what caused me to make the comment about "biting the hand that feeds them" in the thread related to "loaded hard drives". THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE BUSINESS WHO "JUST DON'T WANT TO USE THEIR CD'S ANYMORE" but have not legally created a hard drive. For those who didn't understand my point in that other thread this situation should make it quite clear -- those who convert a show from disks to an illegal, "loaded hard drive" are "biting the hand that feeds them"

oh bull!
I still buy my discs. My computer is playing the same song as what I bought.
I have a convienience factor, on top of the fact I use personalized screens for singers, play videos, etc.
How can protecting my investment where they don't damage "Bite" the hand that feeds me?

Because..... when I originally made my observation I had 5 local kj's in mind who admittedly had purchased loaded drives. They had not created and were not using backup drives. Those purchased drives, except in one case, were to be used instead of the catalog of disks they own, but no longer use. One KJ never owned any disks so he started off with only his purchased hard drive.
While the bigger problem is the guy who never bought a legal copy, those who own, but replaced a library of disks for a purchased hard drive are also "biting the hand that feeds them", though they may not look at it that way.
Having backed up your disks, as I am now doing, you must know how long that can take? Chelsey, not knowing a thing about computers, was lucky enough to find someone else to do that for her.

to lump all hard drive guys into the same barrel as those scum that buy the fully loaded hard drives is just downright wrong.
I buy my discs. I pay for my songs, not pay some guy to give me a loaded hard drive.
I said it before on this thread and elsewhere and I'll say it again now. As a computerized user, you MUST have a decent understanding of computers, and how they function, before trying to tackle computerized karaoke! I look at it as someone that's used a mixer, and buys a Mackie, not knowing what half the knobs do!
People want the easy road out. They want someone to show them how to do it, so they can do it. WITHOUT taking the necessary time to burn it into your brain as a motorized function. I was one of the first folks that tried computer karaoke, and one of the last ones to finally go that way... because I kept running into snags and NEVER once did I want to subject my customers to that stuff. Once I became confident enough to do it, then I finally took the official plunge.
The easy road will only lead to difficulties later... what do you do when you turn on your computer, and it doesn't recognize a DIMM, doesn't see a drive or worse yet, wants to format it to see it!??!

Where did I, or anyone, "lump" all hard drive users together? Why are you so defensive on this point? Didn't I mention that I'm putting my discs on hard drive. While its nice to know that doing so protects those disc, with the few I have compared to professional KJ's, my main incentive is to get to the point where I can take just a laptop with me and leave the karaoke machine behind. Also, I can't change keys on my machine. On the computer, I can change speed, tempo and key!
