i'm 39y female. i'm new to this site. I love singing...I've loved singing all my life.  I've taken singing lessons starting in high school then i had to stop for about 4 years due to vocal problems in my 30's which was really really hard for me...Now i'm back into singing again.  I'm really focused...I love country music mainly, but i also love pop, and broadway music.  I need lots of practice singing in front of people...That's where my fear sets in....I love karaoke though and I can do great with that..But put me on a stage with a piano player and that's different....Go figure!!!!   I live in chicago, Illinois.....I'm going to start going to do open mics it will give me practice singing in front of people...The more practice I get the more comfortable I'll feel......So that's about it about me....I'm glad I found this site....Tammy

hi and welcome, i had the same problem u have, growing up i was scared to death to sing in front of anyone, i remember hateing to sing WITH a mic...then later after i got a mic i hated singing WITHOUT a mic...loll...go figure
i finelly realized that i was as good as most there so i said the heck with it, drank a few ....ok alotttta drinks and did it....i never looked back....doesn't bother me at all anymore....i found that for the most part WE create our on fears, but in the end WE also over come those same fears....u just have to  figure out YOUR way of doing it....
and yes the more u do it the more relaxed u get...the more relaxed the better u sing....hope this helps and nice to meet you....Billy

Welcome!
I think we've all had issues with the "spotlight" fear!  I was able to get over mine by speaking at safety conventions and teaching classes to adults who didn't want to be there.  10 years later and I have no fear!  Practice makes, if not perfect, pretty darn close!
Go figure LMAO
