Does your video card support dual display?

Are you playing the file on the computer's hard drive, or off the cdg in the disc drive. That means you must have a winamp plugins for each type of use!
What cdrom are you using? Some don't recognize the "graphics" subcode!

Yes, I am new to all of this and don't know much. I can get the screen to go to the second monitor. There's just no words there, but I can hear the music.

I have winamp downloaded on my hard drive. I have the karaoke songs downloaded on an external hard drive. I can move the video screen from the computer monitor to the tv screen, but all I hear is music. The words don't show up.

I assume that you are using mp3+G files????????????
I assume you have the mp3+g plugin for winamp installed so it can play the files????
When you say"move the vidoe screen" what exactly does that mean? Do the lyrics show up on the main computer screen, and when you try to drag it over to the 2nd screen it disappears?

Ok, what i'm looking for is how to display the words for the Karaoke on winamp. I've played it on another system and it plays the video. I have the same winamp as the computer I played it on. I am playing it off of a external memory. My video card has the s-video jack for the TV out-put.So i'm not sure what i need to do to get the video to come up.

you require the cdg plug in for winamp and you might find the pacemaker plug in useful so as you can change the pitch tempo etc

TELL us what plugins you have installed in winamp! Which version.
and did I read this right that you're trying to play off an external drive? are they zipped? or just in a folder with one file being the mp3 and the other a .cdg file??

1. Do you get the lyrics on you computer screen, and just not on the TV you have hooked to the computer? Or do you get absoutly NO lyrics at all, either on you computer screen or TV?
2. Check the files on your zip drive. For each song there should be 2 files with the same name but different extensions. One file should have the .MP3 extension for the music, and the oter should have the .CDG extension for the lyrics. Make sure you have BOTH files for each song.
3. Make sure you have installe the MP3+G plugin for winamp. You can download it here...

I have the cdg plug-in from winamp. I don't get any lyric's on my computer or TV screen. I have tried it on a different computer and it does work. I am using a external drive which has the mp-3 and the video files on it. It did work on a different computer, so i don't know why it's not working on mine. But i will try the mp3-g plug-in to see if that will work. thank you for your time and help.

chelsey answer the nice people they are trying to help. When you say mp3 and video files what do you mean? avi? mpeg? or are you simply confusing them with cdg? you have to be precise if you expect answers as there are many ways. You havent responded whether the files are zipped together or not.
Until those questions are answered we could only guess.
By the way when you obtained the plug in for winamp did you install it?

Sorry I wasn't very clear on my asking. Not sure what you mean by are they zipped. But I ran it on a different computer and it worked just fine. The guy I talked to that downloaded everything for me had said the mp3 part and the video parts of it all loaded so he didn't understand why it wasn't working. I really don't know anything about avi or mpeg. But everyone keeps saying cdg and mp3-g. I was just going off of what the guy was telling me so maybe he's messed up on what he was telling me. I'll have to find out about that. I really appreciate all of the help. Sorry if I haven't answered your questions right. I'm new to must of this stuff. Thank you for your patience.
I'm not really sure by what you mean by zip drive, thats new to me to.

not zip drive but zipped files. normally there are two files zipped together using winzip...they are the mp3 (music) and cdg (graphics or text) there are various ways to play these. either you unzip to a directory of choice and simply load the mp3 part into winamp and the plug in will play the cdg automatically , or use a zip player like sax & dottys or ziplaunch or roxbox all of which will play them directly from the zipped file without you having to unpack first
but without having the cdg plug in then you will never see the words. there are two types of plugins 1 is to play cdg discs in you cdrom and the 2nd is to play cdg already stored on your hard drive. I too keep mine on an external so I know that has no bearing on whether they will play or not

Now you're way over our heads!! You've been talking mainly to my husband. I put the initial question out there hoping to find someone who could help since the guy that downloaded the files for us doesn't know anything about it. Could you let us know when you will be online so my husband, Jerry, could talk to you and figure out what we need to do? All of your help has been greatly appreciated!!
Looking forward to talking with you.
