I started my show on Wednesday as normal. There was this guy named Dave who was 3rd in the rotation once I started. Dave was about 50 years old, long grey hair, about 6'0", 190-200 lbs..
I sang the first song as always then faded right into the filler music while I cued up the next singer.
This guy Dave starts pretty viciously heckling me from the bar, saying that he didn't want to hear no "M****F'n* *racial slur beginning with n* music." He was upset that he was 3rd instead of first then went into this fit about how he has been to 12 karaoke bars in the area and NONE of them waste his time with filler music.
I went over to tell him calmly that he was the 3rd person to turn in a slip and would be up in about 15 minutes (this is at 9:00, mind you).
He then throws in a few "F*** you's" as I walk back to my stage and says "you are here to serve me and do what I want you to do. You are the absolute worst karaoke guy I have ever seen."
That is when I lost it and told him that I didn't need his attitude OR patronage and told him to go visit one of his other 12 shows, along with a few explitives of my own. I also gave him an obligatory "I don't come to your job and tell you what to do."
Anyway, that was that for about 10 minutes, then what would have been his turn came up and I skipped him (I told him earlier that I wasn't going to let him sing" and he literally rushed the stage wanting to get into it, but the bar manager was keeping an eye on the situation the whole time and cut him off, grabbed him and threw him out of the bar.
Good stuff, huh??
Oh, and BigDog, I am just kidding....I know this guy obviously wasn't you, hopefully even you are not that ignorant. I was just amused that his biggest contention with me was my use of filler music........that's the first time anyone has come at me from your point of view. Luckily, he was a GD moran kook, and my kicka** show will rock on as normal!!

Is that suppose to be a compliment? I'm sure BigDog appreciates you equating him with a guy of this stature.

He had 3 Jack and cokes at our bar before being thrown out (luckily he had paid cash and carry), but he could have been out drinking before he showed up. Either way, he didn't appear to be drunk, just ignorant...

Nothing like starting your show with a jerk. I usually like to have warmed up for at least three hours before the jerks start talking
Hope the rest of your show went well.

Yeah ! Thank goodness that guy was kicked out.
One of my pet peaves is when people yell from the crowd. If you
want to tell me something get up off your butt and come talk to me.
Especially if you have a problem. It slays me how they think I can help them that way. I just say over the mic if you would like to talk to me come to the stage and I make sure I single them out. That usually shuts them up.

I just yell back on the mic "I'M SORRY?? Excuse me everybody, what's that MORON saying in the back?? Yeah, that guy, that looks like his mother dressed him!!"
Usually solves my hecklin' problems... of course, SOME look at it like a challenge... who can best try to diss me. I just say "The show will be over with the next heckler!"
That kills it right then! !

YEAH, I get idiots like that too, but usualy twords the end of the night. One time this guy, a newbie, comes in about midnite, quitting time is 1:00am. I had about 15 in the rotation, and all had at least 2 songs in. He turns in 5 slips, at 12:20, and I add him in to the end of the rotation. About 12:40 he gets to sing first song, I ask him out of the 5 which one does her really want to do, just becasue he probably won't get to sing another song. He moans about that, and finaly chooses. Since he is the last in the rotation, I start the rotation over again after his song. I get about 8 more singers in, and go about 10-15 mins past 1:00. Say my goodnights, and play the closing song, and proceed to tear down.
Now, nimrod start complaining that he only got to sing one song. Mind you that about 10 of the other in the rotaion had been there within the first hour of starting, and ther rest had been there for at lest 2 hours.
I proced to tell him that quitting time for me is 1:00 am, and I did go over about 10-15 mins. He goes off in another rat complaing that I was playing favorites casue I didn't let him sing in the OT. I tried ignoring him, and just continued to tear down. Well he kept at it. So I asked him where he worked, he told me he was the manager of some resturaut. SO I told him, I am going to show up to his job, when his shift is over, and then after he punches out for the dauy, I want him to stay for another 15 minutes, serve me, and not get paid for it. That shut him up for a bit.
Then he started in again. So I jumped on a chair and asked for the bars attention. I quickly asked the bar is any there finishes up work, punches out on the time clock, and then goes back to work for free. A resounding NO came from the croud af about 25 people left there. Then I asked if there were any managers, or owners of business in the crowd. I knew there was and a couple YESs came from the crowd. I then said, there is this guy over here that seems to think I need to play longer past quitting time, and that if anyone needed a realy good employee, he was willing to work an extra 10-15 minues a day off the clock. That shut him up, and gave the crowd a good laugh.
I just can't belive the audacity of some people, expecting something for nothing.

The guy is right about one thing. Filler/dance music sucks on a regular karaoke night. :worship: He can come to my show anytime. If he wants to see good karaoke.

Every serious karaoke singer should act like that. Especially if the KJ plays dance/filler music, when there are karaoke singers waiting and spending money to pay your wage.
Singers unite. Bring down the DJ-o-k-e-rs. They are killing your singing outlet. Ruining karaoke for everyone. Raise up and unite. Tell the bar owners, no more dance/filler music. Take your money elsewhere. :O

i had a lady get tossed out a couple of weeks ago. her guy friend came up and sang a willie nelson song. folks clapped as usual but apparently for this guy (and his girl) it wasn't enough. he flipped everyone off as he left the stage. later in the in the night i felt something hit me in the back of the head. i reach down and pick up a coaster and i see this girl loooking at me. i'm not having the greatest of nights anyway, so i come around the half wall grab her by the arm and usher her to a quieter section. i tell her (with fury in my eyes) that if she needs to get my attention she can come up to me, not throw a coaster. she denies throwing it, but she's busted. there was a guy sitting at the half wall who happend to be an off-duty cop! the owner comes over and tells the lady she has to go. i find out later they've been looking for a reason to ban her for about two months. funny thing is i've never seen her before. glad i could help, but i wish i didn't have to take a coaster to the ear to do it!

Ohhhh you are so clever! LOL :hi5: That was a great story! I wouldn't have known what to do in a situation like that. But that's why you're a kj and I'm not.

I totally agree that the ones that want you to play over for them, are the same people that wouldn't work over for one minute at their job for free.
