Hello:   I'm new to this forum.  Thanks in advance for any help.

My sister and I are entering a duets contest.  We are looking for cdgs with NO background vocals.  I shop at karaoke.com.  I have a PC program called MYVOICE that removes background vocals, but it changes the format and the rules say CDG.

Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Kathi

I know that Priddis (www.priddis.com) recorded SOME of their karaoke tracks without background vocals - which is one complaint I had about some of their recordings.  If you go to their site, do a song search for the song you want, click on the song.  They actually tell you if it has background vocals or not.

The problem is most of the better karaoke companies strive to make their renditions as close to the original radio song as possible.   So if there were backup/background singers on the original recording, then they put them on the karaoke version.    If you are singing a duet 99% of the time, they will be designated as a duet, meaning there will be no male or female or male/male or female/female lead singers on the discs.    There may still be background vocals if the original recording had them.    You will need to find true duet songs that have just the 2 parts singing on the original recording.     Look for only those songs that have no background singers.    It doesn't matter which company you pick, because they are all trying to be as close to original as possible.
