Yeah, Halloween's come and gone, but this gave me the chills!! LOL Seriously, I'd love to know what scientific formula they used to figure this out. Try it, it's worked every time thus far for me....

It's based on multiples of 9. When you think of your number (has to be a 2 digit number) write it down. Add the 2 digits together & subtract from the original, the resulting answer will always be divisible by 9. If you look at the final symbol sheet before it guesses your number, every symbol with a multiple of 9 are the same, thus it guesses your number but it doesn't actually tell you the number, it guesses the symbol under your number. The symbol pattern changes every round so it is a different symbol everytime making it appear as though it's actually picking your number. It is also laid out in such a way that you don't really notice the rest of the numbers & it looks like many different symbols - since you have to concentrate on the number, you don't have time to look around at the others.
Try it with the still version here. Then I will put the symbol up that it will choose for this particular round of symbols. So try it again. Pick any random 2 digit number - remember or write it. Add the 2 digits together & subtract that number from the original number. Now look at your number on the picture below.

Simply stated.....10a +b - (a+b)= 10a -a + b-b =9a.....

Which also means if you think of a teen number, the final number will always be 9, something in the 20's, the final number 18, in the 30's final number 27, 40's final number 36 etc....

Johnny, I always sucked at algebra. Lonman, thanks for explaining how it works. You're right, I didn't notice right away that the symbols changed position, but indeedy they do.
I think Charmin would really freak out at a black cat my aunt owned once that had six toes on all paws and knew how to peel a banana. Things that make ya go... :fright: !!

I figured out a similar one online once that was using cards and doing the same thing...just changing the patterns. Not many people figure these out, but I knew it wasn't reading my mind.

Johnny Echo can open a soda can with his six toes, so he can match that cat paw for paw.

Dang it Lonman, I went though the trouble of figuring out how it worked before just scrolling down where you had already explained it.
After a few trials I noticed that no matter what number I picked to begin with, when I subtracted the sum of the digits the result was always a multiple of 9. I don't know why that happens; it just does. There are a lot of these strange effects created by very basic mathematical formulas but its the sort of beauty normally only appreciated by mathematicians.
I'm reminded of the scene in the Simpsons where Homer finds a pair of glasses in the toilet, puts them on and recites "the sum of the squares of any two sides of an isoceles triangle is equal to the square of the remaining side," and a voice comes from the next stall: "That's a *right* triangle, you idiot!" (Still wrong, though. Not *any* two sides of a right triangle; the sum of the squares of the two legs is equal to the square of the hypotenuse. That was the deeper joke.)

Yes, I do freak out easy. I had very superstitious parents & grandparents. Would ya like to hear some of the things I abide by to this day?
*If a rooster crows on your front door step, it's terrible bad luck, to avoid this bad luck you have to butcher and eat him that night. (which, is not so bad, and can make a tasty dinner anyhow) :D
*It's bad luck to sweep out your kitchen door... always, always use a dust pan or sweep out any other door, not the kitchen one:)
*If a black cat crosses a path in front of you, it's bad luck. ( I swear, I've near ran off the road while driving when I see a black cat, swerving so he passes beside me instead of in front of me) LOL
*Never, ever, ever, never close a pocketknife that someone else has opened, or let someone close one that you have opened. This one has driven my husband nuts, cause pocketknives are something we've always carried, often use, and he knows not to hand me an open one, cause I'll lay it up on a shelf open before I'll close it. He thinks I'm batty. (imagine that)
*If an armadillo passes in front of you while you're driving down the road, it means a hard rain is coming. (not that most people would deal with that, but again, my parents are from Texas)
There are more.... and of course, the usual ones:
*No open umbrellas in the house
*Broken mirrors are bad luck
*Walking under an open ladder is bad luck
*Don't get out of bed on the opposite side from what you got into bed
Now who's freaky? LMAO
.

Whenever I say something that bodes a potential future problem that I would not like to happen I always knock on something. Preferably wood, but knocking on anything is still good.
Crossing fingers for good luck is good.
Yeah, I don't like to open umbrellas indoors either.
Under ladders? Yeah I avoid them.
Black cats? There's something different about them. I've even had one, and they seem a bit possessed by The Devil or something. If one crossed my path it might freak me out a bit too.
Number 13? I don't like to make lists that have this number on it. Or, at least in particular I don't like the number 13 to be the last item on the list!
Karma? Yep. I firmly believe what you give is what you will get. It will eventually come around. I've seen it happen time and again.
Hmmm.....wonder how I became a bit freaky like this? It might be weird to have Charmin and me together hanging out, worrying about freaky things.

Wow, word sure gets around.... ....wish that extra toe would give me a little extra spring, but alas.....I still got the white guy syndrome....

Quote: Whenever I say something that bodes a potential future problem that I would not like to happen I always knock on something. Preferably wood, but knocking on anything is still good. Ah gosh, yeah, me too. I told someone once "I've never been in an auto accident"..... then, had to "knock on wood"... you know, or else it might happen now, since I said it out loud:) Quote: Crossing fingers for good luck is good. Umm, yeah, I thought I was the only adult who still did that. Quote: Number 13? I don't like to make lists that have this number on it. Or, at least in particular I don't like the number 13 to be the last item on the list! Oh, I forgot about that one. Me too. And if I ever run across the numer 666 it freaks me out. Like, at the grocery store, had that happen once...... I was like "wait a second!!!"..... and flung a pack of gum up on the counter:) hahaha Quote: Karma? Yep. I firmly believe what you give is what you will get. It will eventually come around. I've seen it happen time and again. I believe that too. Though, I don't consider that part of my "freaky" side..... I do believe what goes around comes around. Hope so, that's one of my life lines, and has kept me from literally killing someone over the years. LMAO But both good ways and bad ways.... I think if you do a good dead for someone, it'll roll back around to you. I've had people do things for me. I had a man stop once when I was on side of the road out of gas (story OF my life)... I had NO money on me, no cell phone, 2 of my little kids with me, and the back of the truck loaded with groceries. It was in California, summer, and the heat was ridiculous that day. So this guy pulls over, in a company work truck, says he has some gasoline... and without me even having to say "i have no cash on me".... he just offers the gas, free and clear. He said something to the effect of "hey, maybe someday you'll see me on side of the road". And ya know what, I never saw him again.... but I do still recall the incident, and MANY times I've lent aid to someone. I'm one of those people who help old ladies put groceries in their car in the supermarket parking lot. Anyways, enough babble about me and all that. Cause I may be like that, then go from 0 to Bytch in the next instant. LMAO Quote: It might be weird to have Charmin and me together hanging out, worrying about freaky things.
Haha, we'd most likely scare the hell out of each other .

If I go through a yellow light I have to say a certain phrase or else I'll have bad luck for the rest of the day.
If I don't rinse out a glass exactly 3 times, I'll get sick.
If I turn on the radio and hear the song I was just thinking about, it's good luck.
If I look at my watch and it's an odd numbered minute, it's bad luck.
I think there's meds now to help with problems like this!
