oh yeah, and one more thing speaking of taking pictures...
steve, you and ryan broke rule number one in your book, which is, and i paraphrase:
do not get on the stage unless the person singing asks you to.
so there!!!!!

so very true.....but then again it was a special occasion.....and i never actually got on stage with you. your wife, ryan, dawn, gigi were up there, but not me! thanks for all the kind words and we're really glad y'all had a good time.
as for the mic rhetoric; we're not george carlin, but we try! everyone was great, but then that we already knew from our trip to the Ft. Bill was our new friend and he was awesome as well. he was also very funny! just wish he couldn't made it sooner.

Hells yeah it was good to see all of you and finally put some real life faces to the names and online personalities. I had a blast even though I got there late (like 11). I probably would have made it a bit earlier, but Jeffieoke crapped out on me. Dog pile on Jeff! Well, that and I had some folks over for a dinner get together. Thoughts and memories of this whole get together...
Players is a pretty cool little club on the outskirts of town. It is very unobtrusive, and it took me a minute or so of looking at it to figure out it was actually a club. It also featured an outdoor patio / beer garten which IMO is always a nice feature. Inside all the walls were lined with tin metal such as you might have on the roof of a shed, along with pool tables, bar, etc well lit. The karaoke portion was a smaller room off the main building that wasn't as brightly lit with some plasma tv's, stage, and a very nice, fairly LOUD sound system setup. I liked the fact that the monitor speaker on stage allowed you to hear yourself well (allowing a singer to better control their voice), which is one complaint I typically have for most karaoke bars / setups. I like the music cranked up too!
Steve (No Vocals) and his hosting compadre Ryan (Saturday Singer?) are highly motivating energetic KJ hosts with lots of personality and wit. They were constantly whipping their karaoke audience into a frenzy by enthusiastically announcing the next singer with a round of applause, and giving a big hand to those who just finished their song. If this wasn't enough to keep you from falling asleep in your chair they would punctuate each hour with a moving crowd participating song with musical score of "The Eyes Of Texas" and then follow with Hook Em Horns and the "Texas Fight" song. Go Texas!!! Yes, I did attend the University of Texas (otherwise known as God's University) so I am a Horns fan. Problem is when I was going they would always lose their games. Glad they ended that streak. Unfortunately for some in the crowd there were some Texas A&M fans and Oklahoma Boomer Sooners so they of course heckled the whole thang but that was pretty cool too - ! So I'd like to take this time to thank Steve and Ryan for hosting all of us, as it was a great time, and indeed they are great hosts - "Thanks guys!".
It was great to finally meet my online buddy Isis (Sharon), and she is as beautiful in person as she is in the online pics - though I almost didn't recognize without the signature white dress - ! She's a lot of fun to talk to also. Rich, you're a lucky man! I enjoyed your songs too Isis. Since I've been a member I don't think you ever posted on SS - you've a pretty voice. I liked that 'B itch' song - . What's the story on that line about the 'Goddess on my knees' as people were clapping and said you always have trouble with that line - do tell?
Heck it was great to meet Rich also (Phatrat) as I don't think I've chatted any with him, but he was a cool dude with some good singing as well.
As mentioned elsewhere I was grateful to Texas Gigi (Chuck's wife) for her rendition of 'Cabaret'. She's a very sweet lady and what a great voice on that song! Thanks again.
I didn't really get to talk much with Dawn (Steve's wife I believe) but enjoyed her songs.
Too bad Chuckie couldn't have made it, as I was looking forward to finally meeting him. And Jeff my friend...we gotta do it right next time. We're gonna have to get you out the door. Did sound like you were tired though with little sleep so we'll cut you some slack. Hope you got some good rest, and enjoyed the Stones.
Glad y'all made it back to Big D, and thanks for visiting all of us down here. Perhaps we can return the favor soon.

glad you had a good time, bill! it was a little louder than normal in there. as for eyes of texas and texas fight, that's normally a midnight thing, but we had a request later for it.....always happy to oblige! i have a bet with one of the aggie fellas for that game. if aggies somehow pull of the victory, i'll play the long version of the aggie war hymn instead of the texas stuff at midnight that night. when texas wins, he has to sing the eyes of texas on stage!

I forgot to mention Steve, I really liked that song about Texas that you did at the end of the night. I've never heard that song before, but it was an instant favorite as I am a native Texan. Do you close every night with that song? If you don't, I think you should - very classy, and you sing it very well. It kind of reminded me of another song fav of mine by Jerry Jeff Walker called 'Leavin' Texas'. Have you heard it? Here's a quick preview link to how it sounds: http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserv ... 36-0491351
I chase storms so every once in while on the very long, long road somewhere distant this song hits home...
Here are the lyrics: (Leavin' Texas)
Texas this morning the sounds they just sing to me
I feel alive again and with every footstep that's settin me free
Hey old friends,
keep alive the good times we've had in those rollin',
rollin' hills
They will always be a part of me
whenever I think of Texas memories
CHORUS
Oh Texas I'm just a little lost but I'm keepin' on,
Just like that morning star, that's ahead of me,
I keep shinin' on
'til I make it to the borders of the Rio Grande
There I'll catch me one last sunset 'cross the prairie
Well everything is movin right, so movin's right
Still I can't deny that old loneliness that comes sometimes
But every mile and footstep goin' down
Ain't no way a man keeps a count,
you just never forget that lonely stretch
where you keep on for keepin on
CHORUS x 2
Bill

it's called red and rio grande by doug supernaw. it hits very close to home for me as well. i don't always close with it, but ryan wanted to hear it. i actually was done singing for the night as my allergies really started kicking my butt! sometimes we close with that, sometimes with dont the girls all get prettier at closing time and every once in awhile we'll finish with hey bartender. sometimes on saturday nights we close with six pack to go. what's really fun is in my clip collection i've got several clips that let folks know the show is over. clips from futurama, the simpsons, eddie murphy, blues brothers and ferris beuller.
on another note....
someone asked me for a copy of my demo saturday, i think it was gigi, but i can't remember. whoever it was, if you read this, pm me and i'll get you a copy.

That is so wrong Billieoke. I was showered and dressing to go and you wouldn't committ to going and now you blame me for getting there late? Yikes! Wrong, wrong wrong.....
I had a 50-60 mile drive and was going to try to find some place in a town I have been in maybe twice and had the Rolling Stones early the next afternoon (which was great by the way) except for a 2 hour deal to get the hell out of Dodge after the concert. 42,000 peeps trying to escape all at the same time. Bill, when I called you to go you were just starting to eat with your brother and weren't sure if you were going to go. I'll be the alibi every once in a while but c'mon now. Once you had committed to go and were calling me already on your way there (Mr Rude), I was already settled back in, assuming your weren't going to go at all. So there! Mr man!

Wrong...as I recall you said you were showering and getting dressed, but the facts are I said I was probably going but it would be a bit later because my brother and friends were coming over. When you changed your mind about going I reconsidered whether I wanted to go alone. This wasted a bit extra time for me. Had you been going for sure I would have pushed to get out the door earlier even with the dinner going on. Nope. I told you all along I was most likely going. I only considered otherwise when you were no longer committed and decided not to go earlier in the evening (some hours before I left) because you were tired and had the Stones concert the next day - not to mention you were whipped by your woman who complained about your going.
So don't give me all that. I know what happened. It's not a big deal, but it is a bit unlike you to pass something like this up.

Good grief it is good to get out of the house every once in a while! It's been a long time since I kissed a married woman. Okay that sounds freaky, even for me! But what a GREAT time! Steve and Ryan the sound system is great! I can hear how bad I sound in the monitor and therefore compensate, but everyone sounds FABULOUS from the audience. It doesn't get any better than that. And the whole club is great. Oh, Bill...that wasn't the outskirts of town...that was the heart of downtown P-ville. Gotta love them li'l ole Texas towns.
Oh, and I have a confession...I come from an Aggie family. Let me know when you are going to be playing that war hymn and I will try to make it.
Steve, you are a true Southern gentleman. And yes, it was me who wanted a copy of your demo.
Love you guys! :dancin: :oh yeah: :hi5: :dancin:

- Good one Phatrat. This kind of stuff should be PM, but of course we both know what actually happened so no need for PM. Who knows perhaps there is more than one dimension, and in our own dimensions we are both right. Of course, none of this really matters because I don't care. It's really fine if Jeff decided to stay, but I suppose I have a bug about accuracy. Gets me everytime. I also have a tendency to be a bit verbose, if I don't watch myself.
Man, I just got finished recording about 20 songs again. All in one sitting. Whew!

Bill has just left the Twilight Zone......
Selective memory is a beautiful thing....
By the time you were saying yes, I was doing the Al Bundy couch potato act and wasn't going anywhere. Nuff said, Fred! (or is it Right Said Fred?)

Can't play tennis with Planettoid Billieoke these days cause Bill hurt his hand. I think he said he was spanking his money or something like that. Hell I don't know. Something like that. I could be wrong. It might have been spanking his flunky....or something like that. Now i have to play with Andy Roddick, who I can only take a few games off of per set. (and I hate to lose)
Bill's not gonna like me anymore unless I stop being a madman. Can someone send me to treatment? Where can I get the treatment? (Here?)
(...he's a maniac, maniac on the karaokescene.com...and he's writing like he's never done before) -Geez, I better go to bed before I keep this one going.

The Stones were great. I'm going to start a topic on it and tell the whole world (or about 15 peeps anyway) all about it as soon as I get a day off. (If that ever happens)
