OK folks I need some serious help.  For some reason, after reading several topics over the past couple weeks I've gotten this insane urge to:

1.  Get the cheapest set-up I can find.
2.  Use only one speaker; after all only I need to hear.
3.  Use the freebie mic that comes with the set.
Heck 1-3 sound like one of those portable units for about $100.
4.  Hire out to bars at $50 per gig (why shouldn't the bar owner save $?  They'll keep me around longer this way).
5.  Have only 100 of my favorite songs (saves on buying all them spendy discs) and list them on a white board!
6.  Charge $5 to submit a song slip (heck they're already paying that for one of those foo-foo drinks and I need to recoup my expenses).
7.  Bump anyone with $20 up in the rotation.
8.  Charge an extra $50 if the singer can't carry a tune.
9.  Play disco all night for $10/song.
10.  Make a canine-skin rug to hang behind the stage.

We need an intervention.

Man, all you had to do was gimme a buzz, I got your hookup right here.
We can build a homemade cart with wheels on it and you can do a road tour.
Wal-mart has a great deal on the cd+g/cassette players that already have a built in speaker, so see I've saved you money already. We can probably buy a 13' tv at a local pawn shop for next to nothing and duct tape it to the top of the Karaoke machine. I wouldn't even worry about song slips, since you're only going to carry 100 tunes, just write them up on a flyer, have it laminated and have folks point out their tune when they come up to sing. Another cost saver, no more additional paper and ink waste. Rotation is easy, as long as they're hot looking chicks, they get bumped to the front and get to sing as long as they want. Only charge the guys to sing, that way you'll have more women at the show. Keep in mind, if they're hot looking chicks, there's no such thing as a bad singer. In fact, I wouldn't even worry about buying cd+g disc, just buy the regular cd and have them sing along with it, that way, they'll have no idea of whether they suck or not. As far as advertising goes, just paint the name of the show on the side of the car and we can drive around the neighborhood about an hour before the show. Hey if it works for the ice cream truck, it should work for us. In fact we could just go door to door, imagine the killing we'd make off of that. I say we even take it one step further, we pull into any fast food place, start cranking out some tunes and sing for our supper. We cut down on food cost and are not held hostage by dimwit bar owners. Imagine the possibilities.

We'd eventually develop a following of groupies that would let us stay at their place when we're on the road. Shoot I betcha any of the gals here would let us shack up for the night. I mean a couple of wild and crazy guys like ourselves, man they'd be nuts not to get a piece of this action. Dude I'm all about this. What a great idea.
Oh man, just thought of this, we could probably hit a local Good Will store and come up with matching limegreen leisure suits, yeah that's the ticket. Women can't resist a man dressed to impress.

You're a genius, I have to say I'm jealous that I didn't come up with this on my own.

We can call ourselves Hack and Black's Traveling Karaoke Karnavile. Kinda catchy don't you think?

Gotta go man, I'm packin my bags and headin out the door. See ya at the Canadian border.

OTS DJ program is great for dj'ing.  Automatically senses each song for the perfect start & end point, automatically beat matches & will auto dj if you want.
otsdj.com
I use it for my transition music & underlying music for when making announcements.

Canine rug?  Hmm, this is the closest I found.  A little bulky - lol !

Now see you guys are thinking inside the box again.... LOL
When I see that pic, I see not only a mascot, but a pillow and a killer hood ornament.
You know in all fairness my comments are not directed at BD in particular but just taking what he said and running with it. Just a little light hearted but infantile attempt at humor. ;)
But I can see us riding down the road in my 87 Ford LTD with the windows down and playing full blast on the stereo, 'Who let the Doggs out?'

LMAO Hack and Black's Traveling Karaoke Karnavile  LMAO

We could use flash lights as strobe lights and I can smoke a big cigar &
blow it on the audience for a fog box.

Who needs an equilizer? I can stand in front of the speakers and put my hands over
them to lessen the bass etc... and as for fx no problem I'll bring a garbage can for them to sing into.  LMAO

Sounds like a really good show. I could wire up some tin cans to use for microphones.

Chuck don't use that expensive string now. I have some thread I can pull out of
some old britches.  LMAO

Sometimes I sing into a glass when I sing Winchester Cathedral.....and have you ever tried placing a fan between your mouth, and the mic....

I like both the sox and the cubs. I have never found a reason to pick  between the two. Now if you asked me which team I'd rather see play in person that would be the cubs. I love the field.

Craco, or is it Krako speakers....don't forgoet the high quality speakers!

And of course, wire up about 8 of them, cause that is better than 1,2,3,4,5,6, or 7.

Let's see I could run a string from them to an old refer box for the subwoofer....

Hey! That'll help the bar owner save on electric too!  And if the songs I select are all represented by one licensing org he'll also save on fees!

For songs I was going to offer to play spatulas and pickle buckets. It would sound Hawaiian but I'd wear a Hawaiian shirt to keep with the theme.
