Hi All!

I've decided to start out again.

Just a brief history -

I quit my band (singer) in the 90's and moved from NY to FL. I was hoping that there'd be a great band scene in West Palm but there was nothing... I figured a town that popular must have a band scene, right? Wrong!

I began waiting tables and did that for a few years and was pretty miserable, until it dawned on me that getting into karaoke would be a great idea. I loved to sing, and it would eventually deliver me from life in a restaurant.

So that's what I did - I saved every dime, and got an advance on my credit card. I bought a pretty nice PA system and started with around 1500 songs. By this time I got my first show. It was a St. Patty's day show in Palm Beach Gardens, and it was great.

Within a month it was gone... One night I was the victim of a home invasion and they took everything right down to the cable modem for my computer. I was broken.
I had no renter's insurance and I had bought most everything with a credit card in hopes of slowly paying it back doing something I enjoyed.

It's been 5 years, but I have a system again, am singing back in the old band in NY, and do graphic design from home. I can't wait to start again!

You all seem like very nice people, sorry for the long introduction!

I only did a couple of shows before, so I am still very much of a newbie. I'm building a new song book now and I can't remember if I list solo artists by first name or last lol!

Welcome!!! WOW what a back story!!! Good to have you, we are all a bit off LOL, but basically have a lot of fun and share a lot of information on things that are very useful and sometimes things that aren't....

I think you would list someone like Cher under "C" and Madonna under "M"   LOL

But seriously, I have seen it done both ways as far as artist name...I guess it is personal preference.

A big welcome to the craze world of karaoke.

And to answer your question about song listing. I use first name first, but that is because of my Asian background. We use first name and last name sound odd. But if I were to use those dbase like KJpro I will use last name first, because thats how most dbase seems to work.

Welcome to KS - What a story. I'm sorry your equipment was stolen.
It sounds like things are turning around for you now. Thats a good thing.
I list my by artist books by last name first. I use a program called Music Book Deluxe
to make my books. Good luck and if you need any more help be sure to let us know.
Technical questions are better answered in the Tech forum if you have some tougher ones.

Maybe this time you will spend the $200 a year to insure your equipment.
