You should see the way she helps newer singers......she is so good with people.....she treated my wife and I fantastic, before she found out she new me.....and she makes everybody sound as good as they possibly can.....she makes the proper adjustments, and tweeks......before she even thinks about leaving the stage for a minute or two.....maybe to wee wee.....or take a quick dump... LMAO ...I'm sorry, Babs.....I had to add something silly...or it wouldn't be me.....I am totally telling what I observed during her show......no fluff.....she has a way.....

Cool, if I ever get the chance to go up there I will want to have her show me the way she uses her mixer. It's the approach that I could stand to learn the most. I like to learn many different angles to look at things.

hey I was thinking with all the talk about pure karaoke bars and
bars that do a karaoke/music split. From my experience the better singers tend to go to the all karaoke bars because they are more into it. Your more just for fun singers show up at the music/karaoke bars because it isn't as imtimidating.
What do you think?

I agree with you completely. I get many more "for fun" singers and very few serious singers. The good news is that there are many more "for fun" singers in the world than serious singers!! I think there are countless more people in the market for a "for fun" karaoke place than a "serious singers" karaoke place (though they may be more fanatic about it), which is why I'm more than happy to cater to them!!

I think any way you look at it, the DJ-oake is the current mainstream while the karaoke only is more of a niche audience.

I think there is a place for both. I feel the bigger bars and night clubs
are being pushed more towards the Karaoke + music sets more.

Your smaller venues, some that don't even have dance floors will benefit more
from all karaoke.

I'm not saying "pure karaoke" doesn't work in a big place. You as a karaoke host
have to be on your toes to keep the entire crowd happy.

I find if you have "pure karaoke" that means better singers which in turn can keep a
crowd entertained without music sets.
Now most of my regular singer have me pick their songs for them, if they don't have a new one to try. I have a great amount of control on what they sing. This makes me
a DJ of sorts because I am picking what songs are being played. I read the crowd and pick songs that keep the crowd going. Be it sing-a-long songs or slow or fast dance songs.

Now I had a unusually slow night when Johnny came by. To try to keep things interesting we played scaryoke. Having these kind of nights is more relaxing. People can do more slow songs because the audience tends to sit and listen more. They appreciate the singer more than a crazy busy night when everyone is getting loud and partying. Reading your crowd and knowing what will work for that situation is key. I'm still always learning.

I've been places where they called it shotgun karaoke, wheel of fortune, and other names.....but Scaryoke I've never heard it called...lol....I've never let them talk me into it.....I felt so comfortable at your show, I went for it hook line and stinker....the chances on you picking a song I don't even remember hearing, that's from about 1980 back I mean,...was slim.....but you did, and I was baffled....no I was humbled........and I didn't mind....lol.....you had me when you said.....Hey A$$H#le......did you come here to sing, or oogle at my chest....and my wife answered for me......well my husband came to sing.........but are those 38 double ds'..... LMAO

LMAO!! You guys are hilarious! :newlol: Sounds like Johnny had a fun night in Chicago.....he's darn near nextdoor too. Dang JJ...you live waaay up there off 65N....no wonder I don't remember seeing the town, I don't go up that way much. I have made a few trips to Franklin Park in Chicago burbs before...ughhhh. Glad I don't have that one any longer. :newlol:
And Babs...I think JJ hit the nail on the head...I bet you're a real kick. Though scaryoke sounds a bit intimidating to me...since everything I try to sing sounds like Bruce Springsteen. :newlol:
I enjoyed this thread. Glad to hear someome had a fun time. That's what karaoke should be about. Friends, laughs, and maybe a little bit of seriousness...but not too much.    :reddevil: :newlol:

Hey JJ. Hmmmm...Fishers? I don't make it up that way much...that's the higher up part of Indy suburbs. Well, about 10 years ago when I got a CDL license, I was picking up their frikkin' trash...that was hilarious!! It was like....get the f**k out of the road scumbag!! I'm late for my colonoscopy!! :newlol:
Anyhow...I hear there are a few nice places in the south suburbs like Greenwood, Southport, etc..., but I've never been to 'em. I haven't done live karaoke for a few weeks now at my usual place in PA. I really don't know of any decent places to go around Indy. I've been to a couple dives here before, but that's about it.
