Just wanted to pop in and say "hi":)

We have been living in various hotels over the past month... and even NOW, i am writing from another hotel. We are in Chicoutimi, close to our new home in Bagotville... however, we haven't moved IN yet, as our trucker JUST informed us that he would be a week late with our belongings... a WEEK..... And Justin reports for duty tomorrow... so, Skylah will have to delay starting school, and I am alone in a hotel... (well, the hotel LAST night had free playboy... that was nice;)

Anyyyyywaaays.... My very limited French is being incredibly tested.... as this is the most french speaking region in all of canada.... and WE are incredibly ENGLISH:) Sky's new school is ENGLISH immersion:) She is one of only a couple Anglophones in the school... ALL of the kindergartoners are french... hopefully she will pick it up easily.

Anyyyywaays.. hugs, miss ya'll:)

Hi Gilly.  I know what you're going through (moving) as the military put me through about the same thing.  My ex had to do 3 months in a hotel with a 4 yr old and a 10 month old baby.  Not a good thing.

Hang in there!  Just think of it this way ... it's gotta go up from here.

Sadly..... ALL of the hotels in the region are BOOKED starting tuesday... so we are without ANY place to stay! Lol, we oinly had reservations until tuesday, because we were told that our stuff would be unpacked in our 'q by then... NOW we find out, not until next friday or saturday.... so, we are left a little stranded;)

Hoping there will be a quality of life suite free at the base... or.. um.... air beds in the empty house?

Lol, ah well, my daughter LOVES hotels... my cat however, is NOT impressed.. he doens't undestand why he is forced to stay in the "bedroom":)

Hi Gilly!
I was wondering how you were!  We hadn't seen you around KS in a long time.  I was almost set to put out a KS "where's Gilly" alert.  I'm sorry you're having to
scramble around so much to find the temp living arrangements.  That'd be nerve wracking to me but you seem to be keeping in pretty good spirits!  Hope you can get settled in to your new permanent housing ASAP.  Good luck adapting to the heavy French influence!

Charmin is down in California right now on a trip.  I'll make sure she's sees your thread when she get's back on Thursday.  :)

She said her Q (married quarters) is ready, the problem being the movers.  Gilly contact Family Support or the padre's office and let them know about the problem.  Most bases have "safe" houses and/or VIP quarters.  If you let them know the problem they will help find you a solution but you have to let them know, they can't read minds.

Thanks for the "hi's" Back guys:)

Actually, I said above guys... we are hoping that there is a quality of life suite thingy empty  (or whatever they are called) at the base.

Seriously, I said it above! Lol, and timberlea i know they can't read minds.. however because it is sunday, we couldn't get ahold of anyone:) Major pain in the bum:)

But, yeah, the Q is ready, Actually I have pics  but I highly doubt you all want to see it.... I WILL say however, that the housing THERE is TERRIBLY ugly, esp. compared to North Bay. (where we came from)... The siding is all mismatched tin, and colors like rusty red, and avacado green, and OUR house is "mustard" colored:) But the whole downstairs is open concept, and the kitchen is a million times the size of our old one, the bathroom is UPSTAIRS with the bedrooms, unlike the old ones, and our basement is COMPLETELY finished into rooms, with a ceiling and all, unlike most other places. The only drawback is that we are the only house on the base with electric heat, apparently our building used to be the MFRC office building or something.... Anyways, we are the FIRST house on the main road into the base, so technically the ONLY neighbor we have is the one on the other side of the duplex, which is great and private... (sorta) and we have a completely fenced backyard, that has a gate at the back that opens onto a bike trail that goes under the highway and over to the main base area.

Anyways, The husband is stealing my laptop, so, thanks all for responding. I was just annoyed that ALL hotels were booked for the days we need.. esp. since I really liked this hotel...

hugs:)

Hi Gilly - you are missed and I would love to see that tatoo.  :D
I'm sorry things aren't going as planned for you. Hopefully things will look uo soon. At least you were able to bring kitty along with you.  :dancin:

I bet your new place will look awesome after you put your personal touches to it.
It probably won't feel like home for a few weeks, but once you get settled in you''ll feel better. Good Luck ! Hugs Babs

Here are some pics of my new place on base (ours is the ugly mustard colored thing, the side with the silver echo and garage), and of the area, that we took a few weeks ago when we came to visit- They were still working on the house when we came which is why there is junk and pain and ladders everywhere:) In the pic of our yard, you can ssee the tunnel leading under the highway over to the base... my daughter LOVES that:)

Aren't military moves fun?

Hiya Gilly!!  The kiddo is STILL adorable, and the ink looks awesome!

And just for the record, I'm a multiple cunning linguist, so if you need any translation help with the French, just PM me!

Oh Gilly the tat is unbelievable. The coloring is gorgeous.  :hi5:
Is the same guy doing all the work on it?

Love the house pics. What a beautiful area. You have to love the scenery.
I think your house looks very nice. I have to admit I was expecting a run down
old house. It looks fresh and clean. Yeah the outside color is a little icky, but the inside looks sweet. It looks like a pretty good size house. Did you get to meet your neighbors yet?
