but it all worked out eventually.
Was trying to finish my job and go home when suddenly, I'm stuck in an elevator. A frikkin' freight elevator with manual gates......in between floors, with half of a delivery left, and a 2 foot wide gap to crawl through to escape the peril of being trapped in a frikkin' elevator.
After my slithering around and jumping to the ground, I had to find a new way to finish what I started, so I did.
After burning about 45 minutes, I finally arrived at the door of my destination once again only to learn that the occupants couldn't open the door for me.....they lost the keys!! All the while I'm thinking....okay, it's Friday the 13th....my day went pretty smooth up to this point, but my nagging thought of what day this actually was finally reared it's ugly head. I think too much.
So, after some more burnt time, and a few psychotic laughs about the whole thing, mission accomplished.....in 2 1/2 hours for a 45 minute task!!
Tell me bad things don't happen to good people.
But that's just an everyday occurence in my boring but exciting life as a truck driver/delivery slave. Time is my enemy, and I'm gettin' the crap beat outta me.
I made it home late this morning to tell my worthless story about a working man who dredges through endless piles of manure to make a frikkin' buck, and then plants his skinny a$$ in a somewhat comfortable captains seat of a condo sleeper for the 7 hour drive home. It's good therapy sometimes. Open road.....moonlight.....music crankin'.....thoughts of just going home and what awaits.....and then, a 5 mile back-up in a construction zone. Just kiddin'......this time.
Oh, and did I mention it was Friday the 13th? :fright: :headscratch:

Hey Perry  Sounds like you had a tough day, but glad to hear you survived it all :hi5:
As for Superstition: Most think that I am not real LOL But then they worry about a silly Black cat crossing there Path LMAO
Many years ago I gave some Scientist some info & gave an explanation and they accepted my information then had it published in a Science magazine :D
I will give the clue here to see if you can figure it out as some people think im just full of Bs.....
Here's the clue: "It's a Reflection of sideways"
Now tell me what it is & what it does?? :D
Sorry if this is not allowed on your thread Perry, I'll be glad to remove it :D I just thought I would give you something to think about and thought I would stop in to say hello and sorry that you had such a rough day.
I hope you have a great weekend :handshake:

Didn't dawn on me till just now.... My work day went fine, the whole time I was aware that it was Friday 13. Then comes the night, and I swear, if it could go wrong, it did. Multiple system malfunctions, get one straightened out, another started. Singers that make you want to pull your hair out...several other things. I couldn't sleep because I've been reworking my system in my head, totally forgetting it was Friday 13

I don't concern myself about Friday the 13th. I was born on one (of course this should be of little surprise) 1-13-56 (was a friday), parents did have an all black cat too. Probably other spooky stuff too.

All I can imagine is a peripheral illusion? A shadowed profile? A jack-knifing big rig? I am a dumb truck driver ya know.

Good to meet ya. Sounds like your night was equally enjoyable. I was thinking throughout the day...things are running unusually well, and when the s**t hit the fan, I wasn't at all surprised. I must've done something wrong and karma caught up with me. Hope you recovered nicely.

We have an all black cat too...he's about 17 years old now, and has been my lucky charm for a long time....great pet. I'm not really all that superstitious, I just thought it'd be a fun story to tell.

close is all you're going to get from me before my first cup of coffee Jesse.
Of course upon further reflection a mirror image is also reversed (left becomes right etc.)

Hey Perry,
Since I now have cat allergies, I'd have to get an all black version of a Bab's cat.. Something with less dander like this
Sorry Bab's, I just can't resist posting this guy. I feel compelled to do-so about once a year.

Although I am a bit superstitious, Fri the 13th has not been one of the things that get me. That day is more often than not, a good day for me.
Yesterday was not one of my better days but when I compare it to all the other 13ths and average them out, it still works out in my favor.
Now if I had been a Knight Templer on this day several hundred years ago, I might not have considered it as going so well.

I had a Friday the Thirteenth kind of Friday too.
First show in a new venue, and everything is going great. Plenty of singers and a full bar. Then all of the sudden a cop walks in and everything changes. The bar empties in a matter of minutes, and the owner is ripping me a new one about how she has never had a cop in her place in almost 4 years and on my first night there the cops come in and the bar is empty blah blah blah.
Turns out that some girl in the bathroom called 911 because the boyfriend she just broke up with called her threatening suicide. Once she dialed, she changed her mind and didn't tell the cops how to find boyfriend so they came in looking for her.
I went round and round with the owner about how she couldn't possibly claim that any of that was my fault, especially since the girl was not a regular at my show or even singing at the show.
By the end of the evening, she had conceeded that it wasn't my fault and apologized but the whole thing has lefgt a bad taste in my mouth.

wow Bigmike that is horrible. Some people are like that. When anything goes wrong they feel the need to blame someone and it is never themselves. Sounds like you're going to have a dosie of a bar owner to deal with. Especially if this is any indication of things to come. It looks as if anytime you have a low crowd you will be under fire.
Good luck sweetie

part of the problem was that a friend of the former (fired) KJ was in there taking junk about me and my show and then all that drama unfolded so I think she was a little freaked out

I have to say Friday the 13ths have been good to me. This Friday
I had a packed house and no problems. Which is really unusual
when I have that many people. The only thing I can think of is I had a cranky woman wanting me to push her daughter up in rotation and she got ticked off when I wouldn't do it. That's kind of normal though. LOL
Now karaoke on a full moon that's a different story. Aaaarg !!
