You take Inderal too ?   Strange side-effects from that Betablocker.  When I read about enlarged Mammillary glands, I never realized I'd end up as the January pin-up on the 1993 Hooters calender  :(

Ah, then I tip my old dusty Stetson to you Steven...... yours must surely be bigger than mine.  LOL

Most IQ test are given at Elementary school levels so you get a more accurate score.
Taking an IQ test in your adult years, is not as accurate of a gauge because you have learned more and are able to assess and adapt more thus gearing your answers towards a more positive result. When you are a child you are tested for your natural abilities and logic rather than your ability to guess an accurate answer. So if you really want a true reading of your IQ you can: A-go back and try to get your school records and see what it really is, or B, you can subtract about 10 to 20 points off of your current score. How do I know this? I went to school with the sister and brother who now head up and work with the Mensa testing team. Their logic was, 'if you took the test from a website, and or bought one of the IQ test sold in books stores, think about it, how smart are you really?
They're just pseudo test that folks take to make themselves feel more comfortable about being dumb.' Their words not mine....LOL

We happen to be in a Borders book store at the time of the conversation so I took one of the so called 'IQ' test and aced it without problem. Then I took the Mensa test and was cussing out loud within five minutes.
So please don't think I'm challenging anyone, because each person is going to be different. Social background, educational opportunities, personal ambition and drive all play a part. And remember back when most of us took the test, computers were just a distant dream when it came to home use and information access. The technical age has drastically changed our social structure, whereas most of us learned strictly from books, kids today now have many more advantages than we did. Too bad most of them are too moronic to appreciate it. ;)
again, just my opinion

IMO, those tests vary too much.

I took one on Tickle... got a kinda low score, and thought "dam'n I'm dumb" (it was less than 130 if I recall right)

Then I found some more, and my lands the scores were all up and down the charts. (though... that Tickle one was the lowest, so I ended up feeling a bit better)

I guess it would be worth it to get it done somewhere besides online, lmao...

I just need to be smart enough to out-smart men, and I am. So that's good 'nough for me......

Why do people get upset with things like this.  These are averages and there is nothing bad about it.  On average men are larger, stronger, and faster than women, but it doesn't make them better or worse than women.  Four points on an IQ scale, to me is negligible.  Everyone is so politically correct and are afraid to say something that is fact for fear of being labeled, racist, sexist, homophobic, or whatever.

The strongest person and fastest person in the world is male but there are plenty of women out there stronger and faster than me.

Would you rather have all the women in the world, or all the money in the world?

Answer......all the women, because eventually, you will have all the money......believe it, though you might be skeptical......there still are some women out there that money just can't buy.......but the one's that a good chunk of money might buy.......what's your price??... LOL

The standard Math/Verbal Stanford test most are given at around 5th grade is a poor example of "IQ".

You don't obtain an idea of your IQ from taking one simple test.

A person given a series of numerous IQ tests such as those obtained by not just one relatively broad spectrum test of ability, but numerous tests, starting with the true WAIS and its sub-series will give three tougher and truer ranges (or IQ scores) that will very seldom be as high as the written school type tests. The actual tests are given by an individual, (not just written math/verbal) and you solve numerous puzzles while some individual is watching his stopwatch; You end up feeling pretty much like a rat in a maze trying to find the cheese. You solve abstract puzzles, spatial problems, recite series of numbers backwards, must give verbal analogies, have current events knowledge, and scientific knowledge.
1. Verbal IQ
2. Performance IQ
3. Full Scale IQ

is how Wechsler breaks down it's adult series. It's almost always guaranteed to give you lower results than Stanford, or other "standard" less accurate tests.

Maninblack,

Years back I went into Brooklyn NY and took the Brooklyn Mensa series. THAT is one tough test, but is nothing compared to the tests given to those that test above 139 (which in "true" IQ score would be a higher score than 99.5 of the population in terms of tested intelligence).  Sad thing is, the more of these tests you take, the lower your score falls.
Even as a kid with a multitude of emotional probs and LD's in elementary school, I tested extremely high on (at that time) what was the Stanford-Binet M/V so I was given Lorge Thorndike tests, but Wechsler gave truer results. More humbling. That required a councelor and hours of testing.
As an adult I've taken Wechsler-R, Cattell, Langdon, Mega, Miller Analogies, and a few others that were BRUTAL.. MAT (Mensa admissions), Cognitive abilities tests, and I'm not as smart as I hoped to be. Just a range of 132-139, now if I were to take any of those tests today, feeling ill, and not prepared,  It's quite likely I'd test below 120...  IQ score is dependent on SO many factors at any given time a test is taken.  But having taken only one test ?  Well I got all fat-headed, and thought I'd go for the Olympiad, and Prometheus societies... No such luck.  These tests are exhausting, take alot of time.. and really accomplish NOTHING when I think back in retrospect.  Too many socially retarded "geniuses" in the world. The more you take, the dumber you end up feeling.  Try taking the Titan test   LMAO

A true IQ score of 126 is a high score and a score to be proud of IMHO as a middle-aged adult. (Wechsler)

I took the MENSA acceptance test once and it was very humbling for me. I did poorly and was so drained afterwards that I couldn't even figure out how to use the key for my car. Now that's brain-dead.

According to the MENSA site, the average IQ score is 90-109.

Those who listed their IQ in this thread said they had the following scores (you can match them up yourself):

139
Under 130
153
143
140

According to the same site, only 2.2% of people have IQs over 130. Only 1% have IQs over 135. Anyone over 140 is considered a genius. The highest IQ ever officially recorded by an adult is 187 by Bobby Fisher, the chess player and 228 by Marilyn vos Savant (the child test is different from the adult test).

So are karaoke singers/KJs of super-human intelligence, or is someone fibbing?

Also I found the following list of celebrity IQs interesting:

Madonna 140
Geena Davis 140
Sharon Stone 154
Bill Gates 160
James Woods 180

They also indicated that there is a cooresponding IQ test for animals, with the smartest dogs (typically shetland sheep dogs) scoring around 40s and the smartest cats (siamese) around 20s.

Good stuff!!
