Ladies and Gentlemen,

Time for another  :2cents: from the far north.

A lot of discussion has been had on what is the purpose of this or that.  The way I see it is this:

1.  Questions/discussion on equipment - Tech Forum

2.  Questions/discussion on singing, songs, discs - Singers' Forum

3.  Questions/discussion on site management - Administrative Forum

4.  General blather on whatever by those whose life contains a significant amount of karaoke - General Discussion Forum

So far what I've seen even seems to follow this general flow and I don't see where Phil needs to establish another room titled "Innuendo and General Fun".

Just a thought from a "wallflower" philosopher (yes, I'm the one at parties that stands on the sidelines observing the behaviour of the 'inmates' LMAO ).

Did anyone read this post??  No one bothered to respond.  I agree with you Dave.

Here's a tip -  I've seen a zillion and one posts by you that consist of nothing more than "me too", "I agree", "I respect that", "cool", etc.  Stop doing that and half the problem is solved.

Posting on a message board isn't the same as having a conversation, there's no need for meaningless interjections.  If you have something to say, great. but if you're just making noise you just end up being annoying as heck.  The world will survive if we're not privy to every thought that passes through your head while you're reading a thread.

I read it...

the singer's forum is mostly for the ones that go to the singer's showcase.

No you haven't. Maybe half of your problem is solved but many of those responses did seem necessary to me.

I know my mind is moving slower lately but I do have more thoughts than that. Thanks for the suggestions, I will file them under "T" for terribly important.

I will try to limit those type of responses but some people think they are not heard at all if they are not acknowledged. I was raised to confirm what I am told out of respect to the speaker.

Have a nice day sir/ma'am.

EDIT: My original intention was to find a shorter way to let you know that I read your post even though you would find it redundant, some things are not so redundant as people think. I do agree in part with what you're saying here but disagree with your motivation for saying it.

Invention,

there's also the situation that Isis pointed out. Someone posted a thoughtful disection of the postings and where to put them... yet nobody acknowledged it until she said something about that. For me, i sat there and "nodded my head", yet didn't feel it necessary to say something about it until I thought more on what was said. But that LACK of interaction made it appear as if the post was ignored.

Sorry, there's just as much evidence to prove the LACK of replying is just as bad as replying too much.

Matt (going back on the other side of the see-saw!)

The extra few seconds it takes to read a one or two word response won't cause that much pain and suffering or shorten your life span by a significant amount!  LOL

My thoughts:
The only time I've ever gotten ill about massive posting by individuals, is when a thread is hijacked, let's say in the 'Tech Forum' and folks turn it into their personal BS. We have pm's here if you feel the need to share personal info. Remember most of us are not interested for the most part in your personal lives inless it's relevant, as we are waiting for the proper feedback and information regarding our questions. Now on the other hand, if it's posted in the 'General Forum' then I say let it go where it goes. But certain folks seem to have a general lack of respect for others around here and frequently impose their opinions on others where it's neither requested or warranted.

Example of what I think is proper posting or subject changing. The other day, I had a thread in regards to music selection, of which the thread basically stayed on subject with the exception of a few. Lonman, took a quote of mine and began another thread of interest. Rather than hijacking my thread, he started his own, while making reference to the thread where the original conversation started. Now for me this is the right way to do things. You get to continue a conversation, which branched off from another thread, you get to express yourself, get feedback from others without hijacking the original thread and having your comments get lost in the jumble.

Now Jeff brought up a very valid point, you can only talk about your equipment so much. Very true, especially when it comes to friends and family, since for the most part they are not personally involved with what you do, the majority of the conversation falls on deaf ears. At least here you can talk about your equipment, your shows, your songs to your hearts content, and everyone understands where you're coming from.

Also folks, learn the difference between argument and debate.....
Some of you are so insecure that you take the slightest deviation of opinion as a personal attack, most times that's not the case. Don't take things so personal, after all, it's not all about you, it's about us. Opinions are going to vary on each subject, what works for one may not work for another, but don't dismiss any suggestions, because we are all still learning our craft and the only stupid question is one not asked. When subjects turn personal and debate becomes attack, there are some that will be apprehensive to respond for fear of 'the drama' that sometimes takes over.

Look at this thread, what started out as just an observation has turned into  personal BS because-A: some of you can't handle the truth, B:need to be the constant center of attention, C: or just aren't mature enough to handle a difference of opinion. What several of you have done is taken the thread and turned it into the very thing you were complaining about.

Now having said what I've said, I know I've stepped on some toes and some of you will take offense, to me that falls into the 'TOO BAD' category. If I'm lying, I'll apologize like a man and go on with my life. But remember life doesn't start nor does it stop here at the forums and 50 years from now, none of this will make any difference anyway. So why spend time worrying about the small things, get on with your life and enjoy the friends you've made here.

This thread started out as a great conversation piece, so why the need to make it more than it is, STFU already. :D
And having said that, I'll take my own advice and hush for now.

And James coffee has officially 'kicked in' (I refer to his other posting on THM).  I agree with your post above especially when my brain cells haven't kicked in enough to 'connect the dots' between the original post and any pertinent posts made days later.

I've tried PMs. They don't work as well when they are not answered.

Drama is in the eye of the beholder sometimes. Much of what is typed here is not typed as drama but is still taken that way.

LMAO.....if folks don't answer your pm's take the hint.
THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU ;) just teasin ya man.

I agree and yes it is in the eye of the beholder, but how does the newbie know the difference, how do our guest know the difference. Sometimes we assume that when we talk among ourselves, that everyone knows our intentions, A good way to gauge whether your post has relevance is to view it from an outsider point of view. Keep in mind that friends will talk to one another in more familiar terms and names, but will often retaliate when an outsider assumes that they can do the same.
With me, if you're a friend, you can call me what you want, but if you're a stranger,it's like, you don't know me well enough to talk like that.
But hey like Led Zepplin says, 'You gotta RAMBLE ON......' :D

If they're not answered then that should be your answer.  They're not interested.  There is no law stating that someone has to answer.  If you keep asking for one, you're only going to alienate others.  There is no reason to respond to everything that is written.  If everyone did that, then there'd be 2,000 "Me toos", "I agrees", "Good points".  Imagine the chaos of that.

That's a whole different philosophy that doesn't communicate well to other regions, especially not to social retards like myself. :D

Preferring to be more respectful to others is not possible when the answers are unavailable. When the question is asked and not answered many things can be inferred from the hint. Knowing which is correct is a whole other thing.

To sum up, it looks like the message is to just say screw them if they don't like it. That goes against all that I was taught, but I'll give it a try.

Not trying to sound like a snob or be dramatic. That is the best way to put it in words.

My motivation for saying it was because you've been on this board for 4 months and you're in the top 5 posters of all time based on volume.  You talk too much, plain and simple and it's annoying to read through these threads and see a person not saying much of anything but taking 25 posts to say it.  Especially when that person seems to be doing it in every freaking thread.

Self censorship can be a wonderful tool.

LMAO  LMAO  LMAO  LMAO

This post I think started out as a just for fun thing, but because some
are offended by people posting a lot it turned into a debate.

I did see it coming because this has been a sore subject in the past.

I wish we could find a solution to the problem instead of complaining about it.

Okay we've tried to get Phil's attention to alert the owners we'd like another forum for just karaoke. That doesn't seem to be working.

We suggested staying on topic in karaoke topics. AWESOME - May I add if they do go off topic someone give them a nice reminder it is a karaoke topic please stay OT.

We suggested if it is just for fun use O/T (off topic) in the heading so people know. - I like that idea, but it will take time to catch on.

Yes the problem exsist that we all don't agree. Some like it karaoke only and some like it anything goes. I don't think this will change, so lets do the best we can with what we have. Does anyone have any suggestions to solving the problem?

I think we met Big Dog's brother.  They both love hearing themselves.

It's not the non-karaoke topics that bother most of us.  It's when people take a thread off tangent.  It doesn't matter if it's about karaoke discs or the colour of the sky.  Keep on topic.

Timberlea, you are giving me too much credit. I don't do that. At least I don't think I do.

If you are refering to the thread about Isis drinking gin instead of vodka, that was deliberate. It was a hint that people didn't seem to get. I don't think that was me who changed anyway. I think it was her husband. I know her personally and care for her like a sister.

The timing on your statement tells me a lot about your character. The way you speak does too. LMAO

Thanks folks this has been edifying. I will no longer worry about certain attitudes around here. When a question is ignored it is because the one who is asked is too small to take the time to answer.

Get used to seeing my face, you're going to see it a lot. Tired of it already? too bad. LMAO

I did really try. My obligation in this whole mess has been met. I extended a courtesy out of respect and am ignored. MOral fiber isn't just a problem in the US, it seems to suck everywhere. LMAO

Do I talk too much, it seems so?

Do I care? Well, I used to. LMAO

BTW - the mass suicide thing that Tig suggested, not going to happen this year. It would upstage the suicide in my family from last year. We get them every few years and it looks like it's my turn. Gosh I hope not.

Chuck I enjoy your posts

I liked how Charmin described how we all have different personalities and enjoy different kind of posts.
I think it is sweet how Chuck responds to some posts, so people know someone
is paying attention to what they just said. How can you get mad at that.
