I can respect that.

I can and do respect this too.

If that's what you guys want, fine. I don't mind an occasional wandering down the unknown, just b.s.in'. There's nothing wrong in that. But Steven, you know as well as I that when you get so many posts up in just a few months... that's rather silly! And you don't do it on just one thread, but MANY threads. I've seen threads hijacked that actually were trying to show people something.

I've noticed that too.

I just wish that we had a specific area where yes I could go play, and then YES where I could go and discuss karaoke!  Not just KJ stuff... I want to hear input from the SINGERs perspective as well.

I was hoping that a sort of lounge would be possible but it doesn't seem to be a good idea. This is only the second forum I've ever joined. I spent the first two or three months going nuts and many suffered from my posting spree. When it finally dawned on me that the people who had been here longer really didn't like the site going in this direction I was more than embarrassed, at first I really thought they were joking around about all the crap I was psoting.

The senior posters shouldn't have to put up with my ramblings. I respect that. That's when I got in line. Now or soon I will be looking for a forum where I can have my fun. I've learned a lot about karaoke here but I have wasted the time of a lot of people. I regret that.

This is my last apology for my behaviour, no one asked for it, no one encouraged it. This is just an opportunity for me to say it one last time.

I respect this forum and its members. Thanks for putting up with me folks. I had fun but the cost to the integrity of the website was not worth it. I don't plan on leaving this site entirely but I promise my posts will be much less than they were.

What makes the talker enjoying himself (or herself) at a party any less of a contributing individual, than the individual standing in a corner with a chip on his shoulder ocassionally opening his mouth merely to spew negative content such as "you folks are boring me" ?  Perhaps I'm missing something here, however most that post what many deem to be "superfluous crap" are enjoying themselves at this party !  Remember,  there are quite a few that get something out've this site, however if a few enjoy sitting around shooting spitballs at those enjoying themselves sobeit.  Plenty can be said regarding the "whiners" with a lower post content too.

I tried to get the ball rolling with Phil. I explained peoples concern on this topic and asked if it would be possible to add another forum topic for karaoke only talk or a just have fun lounge. It was not in his power to add a room, but he forwarded the message on to the people who could. Phil has been as helpful as he can be with the matter. Maybe if more people PM Phil about it, so he can pass on the messages they will listen. As far as I know they have only heard form me. That was a while ago, so I don't think they are considering it. I think they will listen if more people get involved.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Time for another  :2cents: from the far north.

A lot of discussion has been had on what is the purpose of this or that.  The way I see it is this:

1.  Questions/discussion on equipment - Tech Forum

2.  Questions/discussion on singing, songs, discs - Singers' Forum

3.  Questions/discussion on site management - Administrative Forum

4.  General blather on whatever by those whose life contains a significant amount of karaoke - General Discussion Forum

So far what I've seen even seems to follow this general flow and I don't see where Phil needs to establish another room titled "Innuendo and General Fun".

Just a thought from a "wallflower" philosopher (yes, I'm the one at parties that stands on the sidelines observing the behaviour of the 'inmates' LMAO ).

I hated to see everyone fighting and taking sides on the matter
that is why I talked to Phil. If it would make everyone happy to have
a seperate place to talk just karaoke I was all for it. I don't believe the room would be used much. I notice that no one usually uses the Singers forum much or the KJ forum,
but they serve a purpose.

Right. That's why we should never have these conversations. This forum is an anything goes forum. If you want technical, go to technical......(and talk to yourself) :D

My sentiments exactly. Many of those with the seniority don't want this part to be anything goes. This needs to be respected.

In some ways it's like buying a house and starting a family and then a strip club opens less than a block from your house. Should you move? No. You were there first. THe strip club never should have opened there but now they need to move.

I want to take my strip club to where it belongs.

People, ya need to quit all this bickering gadam'n it.

The world takes all kinds, and here is no different.

You got your "business only" types (hiya Matt, how YOU  doin'?)

Your jabber jaw types (no, I'm not pointing fingers Chuck or Kappy)  LMAO

>just kidding, ya know I love ya guys<

Your slutty types (no names mentioned here either... not even YOU Sinnamon)

Your "holier than thou karaoke god" types (again.... no names, I don't need BigDog biting my ankles)

You got your "that's not allowed in here" policeman type (ahem... the name of ShyGuy comes to mind... but he vanished it seems)

Anyhow, the list goes on.

How BORING would this place be if we were all the same? Variety is the spice of life, remember that.... IMO, it works here too.

other than to be a bit of fun to read.

By the current definition of this "Discussion room", your own admission of "fun to read", or "having fun", coupled with the rooms description of "just about ALL goes" DESPITE Karaoke being a focal point IS for many an "accomplishment".  Those amicably interacting and having fun *IS* an "accomplishment" and quite beneficial for many.  I don't understand your "total" disagreement. "Fun" although subjective IS in fact positive and an accomplishment. I don't see pragmatic discourse as the objective of this room, (nowhere within it's definition is that stated either). if for no other reason than this being similar to a bar atmosphere, folks sitting around having a fun time with friends conversing HAVING FUN (although deviating from Karaoke) IS allowed in this general discussion area. Others have the option of remaining negative, or ignoring, sticking to their tech-rooms, club areas, other venues etc. Denigrating those having fun is of greater value here ?  That was my point. Who's to measure quality of posts, when such a thing is entirely subjective ? Where in the description of THIS particular forum does it state "straying several generations from Karaoke related chatter isn't desired in the open forum Discussion Forum?", if-so according to whom ? Accomplishment for some might be as simple as conversing and relaxing in an amiable atmosphere.  It's up to administration to dictate the boundaries of the "Discussion Forum".  Where in the definition do you see "Karaoke" related only ? Obviously many opt to stray from Karaoke in here whether a few deem that as acceptable or not. Some WANT to just "have fun".

Regarding "thread jacking", I do agree that's wrong, and while I agree that MOST have been guilty of doing that at one time or another,  I was discussing the judging of other's content based solely on quantity of posts. It's not up to me, or anybody else to pass judgement on an individual based upon "quantity" of posts.  Many with a low post count post garbage as well.  That was my point.

Simply put, this discussion can never end.

I will be having a moving sale soon. All items must go.

Trying to mix artistic types with Technical types has never worked in my experience. The mixture is insoluble.

Tom Scholz must be quite self-contemptuous  LMAO  He's both.  Brilliant mind, but quite technical as well as artistic !   I wonder how much time he's spent in a shrinks office

Good points Charmin.  I suppose this forum is a microcosm of society in general (with a heavy emphasis on karaoke)!!!  LOL

Steven,

I'm not going to sit here and disect the posts and go point for point with you, or anybody else. In fact, this whole THREAD has gone off topic to discuss such matters.

The reason I DO scan over most of the "nonsense" threads is sometimes people do ask legit questions in there, and are looking for help, advice, or a direction in which to turn to.

I agree that there's room for all types at this site. I never said that ONLY karaoke was to be discussed here. Granted it IS a karaoke forum. I just get tired of the thread hijackers.

NOW, before anybody else goes off on that subject, I don't think anybody's done that RECENTLY!!! (so stop apologizin' Chuck! LOL!). NOR do I think it's necessary to title a thread "KARAOKE DISCUSSION ONLY"... that's even more nauseatin'!

I think we're all adult enough to put our own boundaries up without making them look like twelve year olds or younger SHOULD post here, and they're ONLY allowed to go to specific threads.

My comment on the "goodnight" thread was intended to be lighthearted, but to show a specific example. And I was amused scrolling through it. I mean, there ARE members that come on here JUST to say hi to their friends that they've made here. I see nothing wrong with that.

Oh well, such is life!

It's cool Knightshow. I respect what you were saying. A lot of people feel very strongly about that.

I just wish there was a "Lounge" or something to that affect for drivel. If there were, people who start reading any thread without thinking first can avoid this problem in the future.

It won't happen. Spider-Man is too busy to OK it. j/k My. Parker. You might not actually be Spder-Man so I don't want to offend yet another person. LMAO

I PM'd him too, all he replied was that he got my PM & would let me know if a  karaoke fourm alongside the Discussion forum & Tech forum would be possible in the future.

I do agree about the lounge thing. I go to one site in the UK, and hardly post there at all, except in what they call "the community" area...

the others are just a mysitifying area... especially when they start talking about uk shows, things to see, etc.! LOL!

Chuck,

As I've stated (and I apologised accordingly) my ONLY regret here is inadvertently stepping on toes in the technical forum. My goal was never to achieve "inordinate post count". That's just me being myself, but high post count was never an objective even though it became another source of discussion at times. When I play I play hard, and when I work, I work hard. When I post I have something to say. Despite my high quantity of posts in here,  and despite others opinions regarding my "quantity" it doesn't matter to me. Enough like me. *I* realize that my ratio of acceptable content given my high post count is very reasonable, and that's ALL that matters to me. I never wanted or attempted to be "top posting individual in KS". Even I'm not pathetic enough to have such a useless super-objective in life (at least consciously). I just started enjoying myself in here, making new friends, and the rest is history. As my post count became a focal point, I joked about it (just part of my self deprecating humor) but NEVER posted for the sake of posting. There's no need to apologise for enjoying yourself merely because a few judge you as being "quirky". I posted a lot in here because I felt comfortable and in place in here, the rest is history.  Why apologise ? Why have regrets ? I focus on those that like me.  Not the few that opt to heckle.
