I checked out some Pyle 2way 15" cabinets today, I can pick them up for about 100 apiece. Any comments on quality?
I did a thread search for pyle here at the forums, and there was quite a bit of talk about the wireless mics, but didn't see anything about the stage speakers.
thanks in advance.

Pyle speakers are great until you actually plug them in and listen to them. Wonderful paper weights and nice for target pratice. They don't impress me to say the least.

Yeah, the whole Pyle line are marketed as entry level garage band speakers. They do the job of reproducing live sound applications (vocal, guitar, etc.) but you'll find that playing any source material (CDs, CDGs, etc.) out of them is going to dissapoint.
They are certainly more suited to a teenaged garage band than a karaoke application!! I wouldn't dare use them at a gig, but for the $100, you could enjoy them in your garage or backyard at home!!

There's a reason why they are $100 a piece - about the price of a good driver in a better brand.

Is it just too easy to go ahead and call them a "Pyle of s**t?"

Are they made by Goober or Gomer?

Yeah I agree guys. I heard them today and it was all I could do to keep from going off on the guy for wasting my time.
But now as far as cost goes on speakers, I'm using Kustom 15's right now, and I think they sound great and they only cost me $100 a piece. I've gotten some great compliments from folks that run other shows on their sound as well, but it's always along the lines of 'I can't believe you're getting such a great sound out of those Kustoms. So a part of it may have to do with the magic tweaking goind on behind the scenes.
I have made up my mind however to possibly put the light thing on hold for now, unless I come across a killer deal. I've thought about going ahead and switching to power amps and mixing board, instead of the current amp/mixer that I'm currently using.
I'm going with Behringer on both amps and mixer. I know some of you may debate their quality, but their products have never let me down in the past. Also, I'll be purchasing them from a local dealer, so in the event that I do have a problem, I can deal with them in person and not a random somebody over the telephone.
Anyways, thanks for your input on the Pyle, I appreciate it.

I think Eminence makes the speakers for Kustom. Perhaps a step up from Pyle.

You might find this interesting. These are supposedly the going prices of the "Pyle Pro" line cabs. Replacement woofers 15 and 18 inch can still be had for under 20 bucks. Or perhaps the buyer is being had LOL
At any-rate, I have no right to 'dis' these, because I haven't used them, but these are what the kids load up with for volume, and nothing more... Get a load of these prices.. This is way entry level stuff.

I have to admit however, there is an element of drool factor to this cab ! Add an SVT head to this, and get out a Gibson EBO, and shake the neighbors windows...

"Two metal handles for EASY portability" too LMAO

Well I personally have no complaints with the Kustoms. My purchase was based on, 'I have a certain amount of dollars, and I need a system, what can I get?'.
By next spring it is my goal to have another complete system. The Kustoms will then be used for smaller shows. It's just a simple matter of economics: I play x amount of shows, for x amount of people, for x amount of money. What does it take to get me in the door, what does it take to get me started, what will hold me over til I can put together a better system? I see where you're coming from, so please don't take offense when I say, whether Kustom is a step up from Pyle is irrelevant, it does the job, customers are happy, owners are happy, Maninblack is happy.
That's all that matters at the moment.
As money allows, I'll be grilling you guys for more information. I mean I'm a realist. less than 5 months ago, I had nothing. Now I'm doing 3 to 4 shows weekly plus private parties. So yeah I'm thinking, if I can do all this with my limited knowledge and equipment, imagine what I'd be able to do with a better system. It's all crawl, walk, run for me, I can only take it a step at a time. I'm just glad you guys know all about this stuff, because truth be known, I'm still a novice. My question about Pyle is proof of that. But I would rather ask and be thought a fool, rather than purchase and be known as a fool.... So bear with me on all this stuff.

Eminence makes speaker drivers & components for a number of manufacturers 'original equipment' including Ampeg, Carvin, Fender, Gemini, Hartke, Peavey - although they do make their own for their higher power cabs, Marshall, Roland, Yamaha and Yorkville. More than likely there are several more, the highlighted companies are ones that get mentioned here frequently for PA use. I've heard that JBL & EAW have cabs with Eminence drivers in them as well.

I'm really wondering if the global market for Acoustic speakers is an Oligopoly. EAW international, Eminence International (no longer Eminence Ky) PERHAPS ??, Celestion (which is Gold Peak Industries now) are all overseen by Matsushita and a few others, maybe Dupont ? Just a wild guess, or fleeting thought, however the fact that a few monsters in the Acoustic Audio area are still held in high esteem in the sound reinforcement market internationally with almost all companies using their speakers, Just makes me wonder what's really what here.
Just thinking out loud.

I just don't understand why assuming Loud Tech is parent company of EAW and Ampeg, such a company would use the competitors speakers so frequently OEM.

These companies weren't always owned by the parent company & they aren't going to change a known sound of certain cabs as that's what is desireable???

Well Kudos to Eminence then. They are managing to hang-in a huge industry on their own ! Celestion I think used to have hq around Boston Mass in the 1970's not certain, but A friend of mine worked for their Corporate office (or R&D). They were bought, Lansing was bought (Harmon), EAW was bought... Eminence is their own company, and international.. I guess Peavey is hanging in as well under their own name, Yet they are newer in the speaker industry

Although some of Peavey PA cabinets & guitar/bass cabs use Eminence drivers as well. But they do make the Scorpion & Black Widow drivers that they are famous for.
