Ollie, I guess I would try it but only if it's fairly painless to go back to my old XP and settings if things don't work out.

My system is not too old. I have upgraded parts one piece at a time. I originally designed it to do drafting and other graphics with an interest in audio.
It was fully compatible with 32 bit but it would need a much newer motherboard to run 64 bit.
I will do some stuff tomorrow to see what the new features are like. I'm not too crazy about the way it has changed a lot of control that I used to have in the Graphic User Interface (GUI).
BTW - 1.2 GB won't be enough to install it. It seems to take nearly 10GB just for the operating system.

10Gb for Vista OS?! The the heck are they doing in there? Well I only have 14G left open on my C: drive. Lots of space of D and H drive though.

I'm surprised too. I only had 15GB allotted to the C drive. It also refused to install on the FAT32 format. It required NTFS. I don't like NTFS all that much.
BTW - NTFS is a funny acronym, it means New Technology File System. It is 11 years old. I wouldn't call that new in computer terms.

Well, one thing I do like about NTFS is you don't have the 4 Gig cutoff point for file size that FAT32 has. A big uncompressed .AVI video file can use up 4 gigs pretty easy! NTFS was first used with the NT file system which later developed into Windows 2000 right? What don't you like about NTFS Chuck? Just curious.

I wonder if the Kernal for Vista is that much better than XP.
I also just found out this has a download manager. Don't know what the limit is but I'm sure I will hit it sometime.

ME was the first to trash DOS as the kernel.. It was the worst OS ever.... It seems each one they come out with is less efficient, a memory hog and they tend to overcomplicate any thing they write...Their resources now are going into anti hackers instead of designing an efficient stable system...

Same thought here.

I have too much going on right now to have Vista installed on my main computer. If my crasn'n'burn computer could handle it, I would try it there. There is a compatability program you can run from the Microsoft website. It checks the hardware to see if it can run Vista.
I'll have to wipe the drive and install win2k.
Done for now.
