It sounds to me like they know they picked the right guy...sending the man to the other side with style fun and humor...what more could anyone ask?

Well folks, I just got home, it's 4:30 here, so I guess you can pretty much tell how the day went. It was flawless.
The ceremony was excellent, the weather was perfect.
Tears were shed, stories were shared, laughter help to heal the hurt.
I have to admit, that after everything was over, I was very humbled by the hugs, kisses, handshakes, and words of love that I received from everyone there today.
It was a very moving experience, and I'm honored to have been able to perform the services for the family.
As planned, I took the immediate family to the waters edge, where we gave a toast to their father. I had Amazing Grace playing out over the Marina, and needless to say, even at that point there wasn't a dry eye at the place.
We came back up to the rest of the group, while Delbert McClintons 'Sending Me Angels' played. I then read a short presentation in memory of their father, while following I sang, 'What a Wonderful World' per the mothers request. I then gave the prayer and opened the mic to the family and friends. There were some great stories told, some sad, some very humorous. But all in all it was great and as I said, I was deeply moved.
I know I'm generalizing most of the details, but without praise or ego, I think I can safely say that I would have made you folks very proud. We sang, we danced, we ate, we laughed, we cried, we celebrated this wonderful thing called life.
This ends a week for me of many sleepless nights, many hours pouring over words, of writes and rewrites, but I do think I chose my words wisely, and total respect was shown. Thank each and everyone of you for your words of encouragement and support, I fall short in being able to express my gratitude.

But that's not the end of the story.......
I have been ask to perform another memorial two weeks from now. It is for another lady who just lost her husband. Up until now, she hasn't wanted to do a ceremony because it was just too hard to her to handle emotionally.

One funny thing today though, was that there were several comments made by people asking whether or not I was a real minister...LOL

But it's time for bed folks, it's been a long and trying day. Something like this is not just another job. You've been ask by the family to conduct and preside over what is one of the hardest events we will ever encounter in our lives, the loss of a loved one.
I have to add that I was handsomely rewarded for my services today, but that's nothing compared to seeing the family smiling and thanking you for what you've done, that particular moment is indeed a priceless one.
Thanks again,
James

Now we know why you're called Maninblack. :)  Better watch out or your services will be requested all over the country. :)

But seriously, I'm so glad that it went well, I know it was an emotionally and mentally hard thing to do.

Well done James. I knew you could do it. You have the heart of a lion.

I like the sound of it but James would never call himself this, he's too modest. It suits him though because it sounds like a great title for a knight and James has the integrity of a knight.

Seriously, congratulations.  As with all things, preparation and a good heart led to success.

This is wonderful news. I do think the reference to Maninblack is
oddly coincidental.
If interested you can become a reverend over the internet easily. LMAO
Good luck with your next venture.

James the Lion Hearted.....oh my, wow that's quite an honor, and honestly has a very nice ring to it.
I can just picture myself in Braveheart riding up on my horse speaking to the troops as we prepare to go into battle:

"Today we stand together as brothers and sisters, today we prepare to go into battle, today we will fight the good fight, and though some of us may fall, today we stand united in our cause. For our cause is noble, our cause is worthy, our cause may well define the future of our country and it's people. Humbled are we who have chosen to stand today, for our fortune now lies within the fate of the Gods. For what worth is a man or woman if they cannot stand together for a common belief, for it is our belief that gives us strength and purpose. So as we now prepare to meet our foe, let us not forget our destiny. It is here that we will make our stand, and if so be it is here that we will lay down our lives. So be let it be known, it is here we boldly defend our rights, defend our very existence for our cause. Give us liberty, give us death, give us strength over those who would deny us our freedom. Give us patience and understanding over those who would prohibit us from pursuing our God given right. For when the night is over and the battle is won, only the strong of heart will stand to claim victory. Only the true defenders will stand and proclaim to the world:

WE ARE DEFENDERS OF THE THE FAITH, AND OUR FAITH IS THE PATH THAT ONLY THE CHOSEN FEW WILL FOLLOW, GIVE US KARAOKE OR GIVE US DEATH.
LONG LIVE KARAOKE"

well okay it was kinda cool up to a point, then I totally cheesed out, but then as I was writing this, I'll admit, hmmmm, wonder how many cheers I'll get when folks get through reading this....LOL and hopefully everyone could envision it in their minds.

But it is true, no matter what our differences are either personal or professional, we should never forget what brings us together, it is a common cause. I can honestly say that there has been a point already in my work, that I've sat and wondered, did I choose the job, or did the job choose me. So sometimes I really believe we need to set aside our egos and remember what brought us all here to begin with. It can be our strength or if we let it, it can be our weakness, but in the end, it is the solidarity of what we do that remains the common factor. Stand true to your beliefs, stand true to your purpose, stand up for yourself, but never lower yourself to the point that you become as cowardice as your critics. Critics, there will be many, true friends will be few, so always understand that none of us can afford to alienate another because of an opposing opinion.

Well, actually, there should be a shorter version of that speech--because if you talk TOO long, there won't be as much time for people to sing!

Hmmm, well considering it only takes a little over a minute to read it, I don't think I'll be holding too many folks back from hitting the mic. Shorting it would be like cutting the Beatles song, 'Yesterday' in half, now would that be fair? The average singer takes longer to grab a book, pick out a song, sign a slip and bring it up to the host.
But I see where you're coming from, how about this, I did have a shorter version of the Bill of Rights that I was gonna try to get passed around.

'Prayer to whatever god you want, say what's on your mind regardless of, carry a gun, and kick the crap out of whoever trys to stop you.'

Works for me. ;)
