what do you recommend - metal mounts? screw on type or cut out a hole on the bottom?
these speakers have a black carpet on them.
i have seen plastic ones for sale, i dont think they would last long.

I would recommend better speakers!! Just kidding, but isn't it a red flag when PA speakers DON'T have a pole mount?? Why would they make sucha thing?? ANYWAY...

If you have some carpentry skills and tools, getting a flush-mounted internal pole mount would be much better. Because you are putting the pole inside the speaker, you get a lower center of gravity and are going to have a MUCH more stable speaker on top of your stand!!

The external ones work fine as well, but are not as stable for the speakers or the mount itself. All of the pressure is placed on your mount instead of distributing the pressure among the mount, the speaker, and the stand with an internal mount.

Install internal pole mount sockets!..... All you need is a saber saw or a drill with correct size hole saw and the sockets.

First remove lower speaker so you don't drill into any wires or anything, then cut hole, pop in pole mount and you are done.

Many places sale speaker pole socket mounts. If you have trouble locating them, just contact Peavey support and they will ship them cheap and fast......All socket mounts are standard 1 3/8" hole size.

Now, let's be professional so your speakers don't look dumb and stand crooked.....Here is how to do that:

Turn speaker upside down and find centerline of cabinet from side to side.......Place piece of tape along that centerline that spans from front to back of speaker bottom.....You are going to place a mark on the tape somewhere.....That mark will be the center of the hole for the socket....Now find where that mark needs to be....To do that turn speaker back upright and get ready to do a balancing act with the speaker.

With tape line on speaker bottom and speaker upright, place a round marble or something similar under the speaker kinda near the center of the bottom of the speaker........hold the speaker loosely and see how it balances on the marble.....If it wants to lean over in front, then place the marble farther toward the front along the tape line....Keep fiddling with it till the speaker seems well balanced on the marble......THAT is the balance point and THAT is where the socket hole needs to be drilled....Drill small pilot hole there and look inside to see if the socket will then clear the speaker cage once it is installed....If so, then cut socket hole and install socket and speaker and you will have two nice looking speakers that stand perfectly straight on your poles. :D

How big are they?   Speakers over 75 lbs don't have them for a reason.    Stands can only hold 75lbs.   If they weigh more watch out.   Big trouble.   You'll kill someone if they fall over.   LMAO    :O

From Mackie's website:

Physical Properties
Height 32.0 in/81.3 cm
Front Width 19.1 in/48.5 cm
Rear Width 13.9 in/35.3 cm
Depth 18.1 in/46.0 cm
Weight 101 lb/46 kg

SA1521z is pole-mountable via the built-in socket on the bottom of the cabinet. Be sure the pole is capable of supporting the weight of the SA1521z.

Obviously BD is NOT a technical person, not being versed on what IS available for equipment that is out there.

Get your facts straight before posting erronious statements like the one you posted. If you can't post a helpful solution in the technical forum, rather than creating a fear and innuendo on equipment, you should not post anything at all.

And yes, I am a gear head, and a member of the GAS support group.

Just MY humble opinion.

These are also rated up to 200# capacity! Ā

The mount on the speakers & where they are placed have a lot to do with the maximum load capacity as well.

Get your facts straight.    He said Gemini speakers, not any other brand. :asleep:

What knucklehead in there right mind is going to put 100 or 200 lb speakers on a pole?      KING KONG KARAOKE?

Dateline DJ-o-k-e Club.

25 people, mostly dancers :worship:  were killed tonight in a horrible accident, when a 200 lb speaker came crashing down from it's perch.   Earlier, 3 gorillas suffered hernias while hoisting the speaker to the top of the pole.   Dispite warnings from Bigdog to the contrary.

99% of the KJs on here don't even use bottoms.    They want 2 tops that will fit in the front seat of a Mini Cooper.   Some will try to get away with one speaker. LMAO

Are all of the support group members full of "GAS"? LMAO  LMAO  LMAO  LMAO

Well neither did you when you made a generalized statement about speakers over 75 lbs that did not have mounting cups in them. I gave an example OF a speaker over 75 lbs that do have a mounting cup to prove your generalized statement is incorrect.

Well if you knew anything about sound reinforcement, optimum performance of speakers is getting the tops above people's heads for better dispersion of sound.

Anybody that knows or has been around sound equipment would know what G.A.S. would stand for, it's an old school term, well I guess you wouldn't know.

I try to stay out of most of your, (Bigdog) rantings because it just shows us how big of an egotistical lunatic you really are, because in my opinion your posts are mainly chest thumping about you, the "look at me, look at me " syndrome.

Myself, I would rather earn the respect of my peers of posting useful information than the BS and talking down to people like you do. There is always gonna be somebody smarter and even better than you out there, I know it's not me, but they are out there.

Have a nice day........

Unlike you, I read the post before I inserted my foot.    Posting in a hurry to criticise someone has that effect.     Very respectful.  :worship:

I have had my speakers knocked over by A**holes.    I'm glad they were not over 75 lbs.    I'm glad they didn't fall on anyone.    They also didn't break when they fell.    I would never put a speaker that heavy on a pole/stand, never.

I'm just an inexperienced know-nothing that doesn't exist.   So listen not, to what I say.

I have posted nothing that would in anyway harm anyone, their business or their income.

Putting a 100 lb speaker on a stand for karaoke is insanity, unnecessary and dangerous.     Did I miss anything?

Do you represent everyone in that GAS group?    I certainly hope not.    :O
