I looked this up, just because I was interested, and the canola oil comes from the canola plant, which is a genetically engineered version of the rape plant (rapum being latin for turnip). Canola is actually an acronym for CANADIAN OIL LOW ACID, and 95% of it is produced in Canada, with most of the rest being produced in North Dakota.
The seeds of the rape plant are poisonous, which is why they had to genetically engineer it to make a version that isn't, although because of the plant's name and this fact, there are many urban legends that canola oil is poisonous, though this is not true and it is actually one of the most healthy oils you can use in cooking, as it is very low in saturated fat.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
GO JOE!!!

Thanks Chris, I keep forgetting to look that up for myself.
We use canola oil in the Ghirardelli brownies we make and it seems to make the brownies extra decadent.
BTW - Shipwreck was my favorite on the Joe team.

I just noticed that I had a bunch of stars stuck to my avatar.
They're gone now. Spray'nWash always works on those kind of nasties.
