I have my wedding in just under two weeks and I really need to get two clip on mics that are wireless.  I searched ebay and they had some cheapies, but I wasn't too sure if they'd work all that well, they're pretty cheap.  They're mostly around $20 or so with shipping.  I don't want something that's totally garbage and I was looking for suggestions.

I own a mixer board, wired mics (large ones), and pro speakers, so the clip on mics are the last thing I need.

Thanks.

I won't even use $200 mikes, let alone $20.    Sing in to a toilet paper tube.   Same effect.

Yeah, luckily these just need to be audio mics for speaking.  For the preacher and the groom (me).

So I'm hoping I can get some a little cheaper, but I still have some more research to do.

haha

Yeah, I've already told her weddings never go perfectly.  But hopefully the mics won't be a problem.  I'll do some more digging and see what I can find out.

I would not trust any non-UHF wireless microphone.

This Audio Technicia Microphone is the cheapest I would reccomend.

I have 2 of these AKG body pack lav mics they work fantactic. I Have actully cut down to ounly micing the minister.

so what you are saying is you require two lapel mics...one for you and one for the preacher...does this mean that the bride has a loud enough voice? Or that you prefer the men to do all the talking

Good luck on your upcoming marriage by the way

Rember he is NOT married yet, he will learn FAST.....I did. lol

Anywho, insteade of buying the mics, why not try renting them for the event, or borrow from someone that you know has a set.

Dear lord, I can just imagine the horror stories now of using a cheapo wireless mic....

'Do you Mc Krusty take this women......

Breaker, breaker 19, did you see the hooters on that gal, woooooweeeee, I gots to turn back and check them out again. Boy if I had them, I'd wear'em like a halloween mask.'

or maybe-'We're at the bottom on the ninth, he swings, it's a hit, but the outfield makes the catch, looks like the runner on second won't even make it to third base tonight'

or even better-'Herpes outbreaks can come at the most difficult time, although there is no cure, Mendalip has been known to lessen the severity of the outbreaks.'

Yeah talk about getting off on the wrong foot with your inlaws, better listen to folks here and either skip the hassles of any kind of mic on your wedding day, or go with the better setup.

You said that it was for you and the minister, whoa, what about the bride, don't try to keep her in the background before you even get the ring on her finger. Dude, you are just asking for all kinds of problems. Whatever happen to the days of just a simple ceremony, where the 'event' of what was happening was the most important thing.
Keep it simple, weddings are complicated enough as it is, without adding a extra thing to worry about.
But seriously, don't you think a mic at your wedding is a bit on the cheesy side.
Stand up and take your medicine like a man, you'll have enough regrets soon enough as it is...LMAO

Like the guy said, RENT the mics....... from pro audio supplier, not your local pawn shop.

If you have hired a videographer, he should have good mics, if not, then look for them yourself. Even my little hick town has a pro audio concern who rents top notch audio/video equipment.....They also have audio/video engineers either on staff or available for hire too.

I would hate to see you buy quality mics just for one wedding.

BTW, Congratulations on the wedding! :dancin:

Thanks everyone for the congrats.

Second, the consensus seems to look like getting good UHF mics.

I wouldn't mind buying one, since sometimes friends ask me to deejay a little bit, sometimes weddings, etc. (i'm not a pro, but I have a lot of equipment).

So I was told that the wireless mics should be worn by the preacher and the groom, since the bride will be facing me, it should capture her voice.  As mentioned above, it sounds like I may be able to get by with one mic, worn by the preacher.  I deejayed a wedding and the preacher had his own wireless mic he wore and it captured it all.  I think this may be the correct route to go, just getting one good mic.

I'm going to check out a couple of local pro audio shops and see what they have in the UHF category.  If they suck, then I'll use the links provided, I just need them by next weekend, Oct. 8th.

Thanks again everyone, I definately appreciate the info!
