First of all, welcome to Karaoke Scene Forums.
Did you have a particular type of music you liked?
I think most folks around here prefer Soundchoice, especially for rock.
If you're just starting out, I recommend possibly the Supercore set, has a great assortment of rock, pop and country. All Hits Maxx pak, although not as good overall as Soundchoice or Supercore still has some very good songs as well.
The Dangerous Karaoke set has some great rock songs.
Chartbuster is always a safe bet for the most part, especially country.
If you look around at the links listed here on the site, you can find some of the companies have the Supercore on sale for 59 dollars, and the All Hits Maxx Pak for anywhere from $29 to $59, the Dangerous set will also vary in price as well from site to site. For Dangerous, I've found that Ebay may be your best bet to get the better bargain. Chartbuster is usually sold in books, and can start out at $59 for some of the 6 disc sets on up to $249 for the 30 disc paks. Soundchoice usually start out at $17.95-21.95 for individual disc. You can buy what they call Bricks for like $69, on up to $450-499 for a 30 disc foundation set. The price does however reflect the usually better quality of the material. As you get into it, I'm sure you will find your own personal preferences, but hopefully I've given you enough information to get started.
Good luck and again welcome.
James

Sonny,
Welocomne aboard, and watch out for the crazies....
Anywho....
Like other said, Sound Choice and Chartbuster are consider by the majority as the best to CDG makers. Yes there are others out there that have some songs "closer to the the original" than SC and CB, but in the BIG PICTUR, if you stick to SC and CB you will be getting the best value.
For one I found that the DANGEROUS version of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" is the best for micmicing the original, even better than SC, or CB.
