http://www.karaokelist.com/

I downloaded (what I think is) a trial version, though maybe it's just freeware?

I dunno, but it seems pretty complete.

Any-who, I got asked to do karaoke at a wedding reception for some friends who have karaoke'd at my house on various occasions. And uh.... I'm a home karaoke user only, I don't have anything like BOOKS..... I just dig for the cdg I need, I have them pretty well memorized, as far as "what is where".  But I figured, I need them all in a book anyhow... my relatives and friends hate digging, and it's constantly "Charmin, find me this one... Charmin, find me that one". And, I don't get tips either.  LOL

But I was googling for some software to try, and this looks pretty cool. No typing at all, just pulling up the disc by manufacturer, then disk #. And it apparently populates the list itself. So far it seems pretty cool.

But if I'm wasting my time with this software.. someone clue me in.

I'm currently using KSLC. I like it.
Pros-easy to use, just find the disc, hit create list and bingo, you have instant book.
You can even use your own numbers to create your books. I first had mine list the mfg. code, but switch over to list the disc by my own numbers to correspond with the way they were set up in my cd case. Now all my singers have to do is write a disc number and song number and bingo, you're good to go. No more of this having to write mfg. code and then the song number. Exp. before it would be like DG0007/1, now it list it as 0125/7, much easier for the customer to select a tune.
Cons-although the data base is very current, I've found that on certain disc, that it has missed a song or two, which can throw your list out of whack. But it does have a add track option which you can use to correct any missed songs.
Very limited on book layout. Only one style to choose from, in other words, no doing double columns or things like that. But you can vary the font, and you can also create your own header at the top of each page.
For the price, I think it's a good selection. It may be a bit too basic for some folks, but sometimes, simple is better.

I like Chip's Speedbook http://dkusa.com/SpeedBookPage.htm but I'll warn you, it does take some getting used to.

The neat thing about it is he'll take your own excel spreadsheet and convert it to his own database. And I take his custom word pages and alter them a bit for my song pages!

I have to say this program is an excellent value (free :dancin: ).  It sure beats all the typing.  I just downloaded it last night and it doesn't take much at all to get the disks in.

James, I am a firm believer in KISS and that's just what this is! And believe me, at 2 AM I AM stupid! LMAO

Hey, thanks for the input. I did read yours last night James, just....... dind't reply cause I was busy plugging away at the songbook.

Gosh, I got almost completely finished with it last night. Granted, I'm like I said, only a home user, and I think at last count....... I had 120 disks. But, it didn't take me too long.

I had a few disks (mostly karaoke party packs) that weren't in there..... and I have quite a few custom made cdg's (from mycdg.com) .... so I had to enter those by hand. (ugh.. the old fashioned way... I had to TYPE, hahaha) But it was simple enough to save, then merge into one file.

I really love this program so far. Thank heavens I don't have Excel on my home PC, or I wouldn't have went looking....... I would have simply started a spread sheet and been typing all night.  :(

For anyone looking for a program to use, good lord....... I'd recommend this one in a heartbeat, it's so simple to use.

Yeah, I'll pour over the list when it's all complete. Atleast, I don't have very many songs & cd's... and I know my collection pretty well... so spotting errors at this point and time should be kinda easy. (I think.... I hope) I'm a little nitpicky by nature, so I've been checking and double checking as I merge stuff. (I did a typo and had a song... Rockin Into The Night... listed as being by the artist... 39 Special) hahaha

I'm gonna check out that other link you gave too. Thanks Matt.  :D

It's pretty cool Drea, my songbook is all done and it sure didn't take me too long at all. (of course, again... I have a VERY small library, I only buy stuff I like to sing, and some stuff for my kids...)  For someone who has a KJ collection of disks, it would take longer naturally...... but this program is SO user friendly, heck... I had hubby helping.  LMAO  And he...... doesn't TOUCH a computer ANYthing.

If you're typing them all in a spreadsheet, you for sure will save time with this.

As to what James said, the layout is not EXACTLY how I would want it, just a bit too much info there for a book.... but I'm gonna play around with that. I guess I could always copy and paste it into a spread sheet, and hide what info I don't want there, then print it that way. We'll see.

But yeah, in the meantime, you should check it out... I think you'll like it.
