Yep, UPS just dropped off my catalitic converter delete pipe for my diesel dually....I'll take it to work this evening and then install it.....After that I'll head to the local muffler shop and have them install duals with no mufflers like I did my Silverado
Gotta have straight pipes down here........Thank god no one cares and no one inspects.
Downside is the wife will want to drive it once it is as sweet sounding as the Silverado.
Anybody need a cat off a F-350 7.3 diesel truck?...They sell for 500 bucks...You can have mine for just 100 plus shipping.

Straight pipes are not legal here. Well, maybe to a certain extent, but I'm sure there are limitations to it. Pretty much, if you're running straight pipes, you creep through town when you see a cop. :D My 17 year old son is running straight pipe, and he is TOO loud... and I'm sure one of these days it's going to get him a ticket. But, I warned him, so it's HIS lesson to learn.
Anyhow, a neighbor guy showed us what he has. I know they sell something like this, but this one... the guy homemade. Each pipe (he has dual exhaust) has two outlets and a shut off valve. The valve is right past the first outlet, the mufflers being past that a bit further. He has a lever inside the truck. So, he runs straight pipe (keeping the valve closed)... and if he ever gets pulled over by a cop (or, wants to keep it quieter at some time)... he switches the lever, and it runs through the mufflers. It's kinda a cool thing. I'm sure there's a name for it besides "thingee"..... haha..... guess I coulda googled and looked around for them.
Anyhow, my son may be putting that on his.
And.... we usually punch out our catalytic converters anyhow. They stink. :D

My first truck had a loose exhaust manifold for a little while. I felt sorry for anyone who had to sit next to me in traffic when the light turned green. It was a small truck. The oustide said Chevy. The Engine said Isuzu.
When that was goin' on it sounded like mopeds exploding, several per second.
I miss that lil' truck.

. Yep, those are called "cutouts"....They been around for 50 years.....just pull a cable or lever and go from muffled to sweet......
We are rather redneck down here...guys with brand new pickup will head straight to the muffler shop and get duals...The shops won't pull off the converters cause it's a 25K federal fine, so have to remove them yourself before they will work on it.
Funny thing is, my particular truck either had one or it didn't when new...they were installing them on some but not all that year.....so I'm legal without it.
Another funny thing about this area is you can get a really big fine and your license suspended for a loud stereo, but not loud pipes.

Kewl, figured maybe you knew of them. Now I can google "cutouts". Of course, I'm not going all redneck. My Bronco is loud enough. And actually, I may be here shortly getting a different vehicle. I'm gonna keep the Bronco, and fix it up as a play truck eventually, maybe let my daughter use it when she gets licensed. (soon as all the safety things are ironed out... it's not 100% safe to drive right now, maybe more like... 50%) LOL
I've been looking at 2 vehicles. Mazda Tribute, my mom has one. It sure drives nice, but.... it's just too small.
So, I'm thinking maybe a Jeep Wrangler. Always wanted one of those, but never had one. The 4 door maybe.... Wrangler Unlimited. Maybe.... gotta figure if I want the high insurance rates again, and it's gonna be a bit more monthly- and alot longer payments, than my Suburban currently is. I just.... don't NEED a Suburban anymore, and it drinks too much gas.
I SWORE I would never get an auto on payments again..... but I do this every 4-5 years, I start wanting somthing newer. Maybe if someone tells me how stupid it would be, I'd quit wanting it. I just want something..... a bit more trust worthy, I'm sick of breaking down on side of the road. And... my Bronco, of course, is a 2 door. It's pretty tough when I haul the grandbaby around, getting his carseat in and out of the back.

We had a little Fiat when we were first married, and the donut was bad... then the pipe broke loose, RIGHT at the manifold..... as we were on a trip from Olympia, WA. to here. Yeah, that was one loud little car. I sounded like a hotrod. LOL

Well, I was tempted to buy that new dodge pickup with the Viper engine for 50K, but I sobered up and decided against it......I can drop a few K in the trucks I have and get all the horsepower and noise I want.
I ain't never gonna make another car payment.....Screw THAT!....I laff when my wife complains about hers . I have no idea how much she makes or what she does with it and I don't care.....I pay the same bills either single or married.....as long as she don't get into my money, I stay out of her financial business....She knows not to ask for money or get me in dept, I know not to try to control hers.
What I do instead is pretend I am making a payment and put the money in the bank......It sure is nice to see that chunk growing as I tool along.....gives me a sense of power kinda......some folks think haveing a credit card 'empowerers' them...they should try cash in the bank if they really want to feel empowered.
Now she is shopping for a place with more acreage for her horses.....ok.....Fine by me....show me a big saved-up down payment and I will consider selling this place.....no savings, no deal.......I only owe a little on this place and the payment is low.....I ain't gonna go deeper in debt when I already have what we need.

Yeah, we're kinda the same way. His stuff is his stuff, mine is mine. Other people don't seem to get that.... I say "my Bronco" and people pull that "well, when you're married, everything is *shared*"... yeah, whatever. He doesn't drive my truck without my say so, nor does he peek under the hood without my say so.
He pays the bills..... for now. Only cause I'm "job hunting".....Again. But that's his fault, not mine. (and that's a different story, ll)
But I don't yap when he buys new tools, or buys more chrome parts for his sandrail. Bills are usually split, kids taken care of failry as far as clothes, shoes, and all that.... the rest of my money is my money. Come to think of it, I'm GONNA buy that guitar I've been wanting.
Thanks Keith, you just upped my firm stance that he aint gonna tell me what to do. LMAO

Thanks Keith, you just upped my firm stance that he aint gonna tell me what to do. LMAO . Me n the first wife fought over money......never again.
She made 35K/yr and spent 50K/year and never had anything to show for it.....
After 24 years she wanted a divorce and attempted to dump 25K in secret credit cards on me.......Nope, I declared bankruptcy and forced them back on her and then the house and my Navy retirement was protected by the bankruptcy(it's cool how you can learn to be your own lawyer).......
She left with nothing but debts......her debts..... and she moved in with her disabled boyfriend....I kept the house, bought a new Trans Am and moved two strippers in and played with them till had my fill of fun. Those strippers made 400/night and were always broke....go figure?
Then I got got back down to business and had even more fun.......It's been just 8 years since our divorce..............Now I am almost debt free except for the house which makes for a great tax write off.........I got tons on money in the bank and I'm working on my 3rd retirement check.......3RD retirement check!...I don't do credit cards....I bring in over 8K month and put most of it in the bank or toss some to the wife for vacation with her mother when I have to work....They go twice a year on vacation and have lots of fun......but she knows better than to use credit cards.....so far, that is.
Me and my present wife will never fight about money......She will outlive me and get it all plus the life insurance.....All she has to do is find a legal way to kill me....I show her new methods almost every day....she attemps them...so far I've survived.

Yeah, well I see what ya mean about your first wife. My sister used to own a trucking company, and my hubby worked there as a mechanic, so I got to know alot of the truck drivers. It was amazing how many of them lost their wives that way. Wifee would stay home, gamble, get them in debt.... and the husband was clueless, out on the road thinking she was "taking care of things at home". One guy in particular, who ended up being a good friend of mine...... was completely clueless (he was home every other week for a couple of days- only)... until his truck was repo'd from work while he was on the road. No payments had been made in several months, then he found out his house was the same. He lost dang near everything, because she was such a frootloop. But, best thing was, he sent her packing.... as he should have. There's the difference in me and most women, I am not quite so materialistic.

Oh, sure... I'd be happy. But, no no no....... you see, there is a catch. Cause then I'd be all twitterpated over you, and most likely think you were "the guy for me", and start swearing I was in love with you.... and I'd load my guitar and fiddle in back of that Jeep, and head out to Louisiana to find you (which, wouldn't be hard, I have your addy). Then, I'd have to get into a big brawl with Ginny, and that could get ugly. I don't think she'd want me there any more than I'd want her there... and you'd get caught in the cross fire.
Eventually, she'd leave. It would be fun for a while, then you & I would get in each others' hair (because, you wouldn't listen to me as much as you should, and you'd be mean and tell me I couldn't play with your sound system, or take your trucks in the mud, or jump your horses over the neighbors fences... and all that stuff).... and we'd fight like hell. Sooner or later, I'd either leave or you'd haul me off and leave me in the middle of nowhere to die a lonely death.
And then Ginny wouldn't have you back, and I'm thinkin' my hubby wouldn't have me back. So we'd both end up alone and miserable.
So you better not. As much as I want the Jeep, I don't think you want a new Mrs. Stewart down there... :D
(how's THAT for "not very materialistic"? haha, just kidding ya Keith)

Keith, you remind me of another Keith I once knew. LMAO
I came across this today:

Dang, we were biting each other's arses a little bit in that thread.
I love digging through the archives sometimes. Some funny stuff in there. I don't know WHAT I was thinking with that thread. Well...... actually, I do know. But I was temporarily insane that day.

Yes Charmin, it was well calculated to give one a rile, I know that much! I'm like, "OH S---T!! I need to call admin and get the address of this person and call the Animal Rescue Squad where he lives!"--I thought all this in about 1.3 seconds as my mind was reeling from shock.....

"Twitterpattered?"......Is that something one does naked, or while on medication?.....Never heard of it, but it sounds interesting.
There was a scene here once with Ginny and my 2nd wife.....We were still married but I was seeing Ginny.....2nd wife decides to show up on my birthday knowing Ginny would be here and tears into her saying, "I AM HIS WIFE, not YOU!" and "This is my house, not yours"...And ...well, you get the idea.....It got loud and ugly pretty quick.......At first it was kinda cool to watch two gals fight over me.......But then I saw Ginny was hurt, not angry, so I put a stop to it.
Hon, if I bought you a Jeep it would not be to get you down here, it would be to shut you up.
That reminds me.....Do you know why men pay a prostitute?.....They are NOT paying for sex.....They paying them to LEAVE afterwards. LMAO
something tells me I am in trouble now.......
