Ahhhh Charmin! I love New Branfels too! To me, it is one of the most scenic places in Texas! I usually spend some time around there every summer while I am doing some singing around San Antonio. I dont mind the warm winters. I hate breaking ice for the horses in the winter! I would much rather sit under air conditioning and...I'll take seeing great legs on a pretty woman any day over a heavy coat! Here where I live, it usually only snows one day a year and it only lasts for a day. We get just enough snow to make a couple of snow balls and throw at each other and then it melts! I once lived in the panhandle, a little north of Amarillo, and the summers were short and winters were long. It would snow 8 inches on Halloween and sometimes we would not see pavement again until after Easter. I never did like that. I was with a friend of mine out at his ranch one day and as we stood looking out of his living room window, we watched $300,000.00 in cattle die in the snow. They were trapped against a fence and we could not do anything to help them. I like sunshine, cold beer, good-looking women, and, yes, I do like to raft on the Frio! --Mike

LMFAO!! I do that too, Charmin!!! Is that from a movie or something? It's been an inside joke in my family for years, and I'm not quite sure why!!

Okay, Charmin's Blue Yodel #3 coming right up. LOL
Actually, the other day when dad was here, I was messing around with that song "Yodeling At The Opry"..... I think I sent it to you, it's a Janet McBride song..... and since I can't hit falsetto stuff anymore, I can't yodel either. :( (not... like I used to anyhow) I think I sent ya that song file once though, LONG ago.
I think I need to watch what I eat better, drink more H2O, and get back on Prevacid for a few months, to get this all cleared away. :( I have to cut out too many songs I like to sing.

Crystal, I dunno, but yeah.... I learned it somewheres. Seems like some old movie or cartoon or something. (knowing ME... it was most likely a cartoon, haha) Now I'm gonna be on a google quest (giggle quest?) to figure out where it came from.
Mike.... I hear what you're saying. I love summer, I'm a total summer person. But I've lived in Oregon, California, and Texas... and I gotta say, I just prefer the year round climate here. Atleast the last few years. It used to rain here WAY too much, but it's changed. (el nino? I dunno... global warming? Could be....) But we get our seasons. Winter is cold (sometimes COLD!!!), spring is sunny but has lots of warm rains, summer is plenty hot, sometimes TOO hot, and fall is gorgeous here. I don't think fall is as gorgeous ANYwhere as it is here in the Northwest. Maybe cause we have such a huge variety of plants, shrubs, & trees? And there's something about the first days that you gotta start bundling up in a coat to head out doors, and going out early morning and your breath making a cloud of fog in the air. I dunno, call me a dork, I love each season.... but I LOVE the "changing" of the seasons even moreso.

I went to visit my cousins in Michigan at the end of last fall just before their first lasting snow. There were colors I didn't even know existed once I got into MI.

The ony trees you find were planted by somebody and if you pull one up, the people in town might get a rope and hang you! LOL You can see for 50 miles in every direction. If we had a fall season we wouldn't know it! The only thing that slightly changes is the color of the grass and most of us have grass that stays green year around!
y'know.... I hafta say.... this is what I love about Alberta.....as far as scenery goes.... we have the best of all worlds!!
We have dry, flat prairies (sp?), rocky canyons, majestic mountains, wetlands, nearly un-touched forests.... you name it! We got it!! err.... 'cept fer cactus (cacti?) none of those!

That's kinda how Oregon is too Crystal, atleast the Willamette Valley area. We live IN the valley itself....... LOTS of wide open, flat farmland.... but within a half hour, I can be in the hills driving in snow. We go often to a place locally called Goat Mountain that is great for 4x4'ing in the snow. And Mt Hood is not far off from us. We have two major rivers that twine all around the Willametter Valley, and there are tons of tributaries and lakes all over the place here. And I can be at the coast in an hour and a half. (yes, I know Odie, maybe 2+ hours for you, but 1 & 1/2 for ME, hahaha). Silver Creek Falls is very close to where we live, and it's gorgeous.... they have a trail you hike through & behind the falls, it's a neat place. And then, you have the Oregon Gardens about 20 minutes away in Silverton, and the Tulip farms just out of Canby.... so, we are kinda diverse here. I grump that I hate it (usually, in late spring, when I'm itching for summer weather...) But each time I leave here, I always come back, cause I miss it. I guess, in my *old age*..... this place is growing on me.
But, lemme add, I have had many friends over the years who have been to Alberta, and some day...... I plan on making it up there. I've heard it's beautiful.

Good lord, then go video your wife Chuck!!
Didn't I read somewhere that her name GiGi was given to her for a VERY GOOD REASON? :D
Using that terminology, you could just call me BiBi. (maybe CiCi, when I'm retaining a bit of water, ya know...) hahahahahaha.....
