Just picked up 2 - Plextor drives. Something does not seem right. The highest read speed I seem to be able to get is 8X. The Lite-On drive in my computer reads at
30X. Write speed for the Plextor drives is 36X. Since this seems to be a popular drive I thought maybe someone could offer some input before I put a call into Plextor Tech Support on Monday.

1. Firewire problems?
2. USB problems?
3. Newest drivers instaled?
4. Firmware upgraqde?
5. Spywar/virus/or anti-virus slowing it down?
6. Computer is just generallly slow?
Just a few ideas.
Oh yeah, comparing an internal drive to an external drive is like comparing apples and bannanas.
