I'm getting a kind of a buzzing sound from laptop. I hooked to mixer out of the headphone jack with rca connectors. I almost sounds like a cell phone interference
but there wasnt one around! ........................ANYONE?????
You may have created a ground loop. Start unplugging things one at a time to see which one is causing the noise. Then you will have to use a two prong adapter to flip the 110 volt plug around.

ok here in nz we have 3 pronged plugs and it was a guy at our local rock shop (music store) that told me to lose the earth prong from the plug. I did and have no noise cept da music.

The three prong reply is correct. ALSO, if hooking up to a TV in the club that is also connected to the local cable system; you will want to disconnect the cable from that TV. If not, you will more than likely get that same hummm or feed back noise.

Time for the "Safety Guy" to step in. The 3rd prong is a ground (earth to those with closer British ties) and is there for a reason. Clip it and you void any warranty. Clip it and you risk toasting a component. Clip it and the fire department (its in both the International Fire Code and the Uniform Fire Code) or a visiting OSHA (yep its in 29 CFR 1910 too) rep can shut you down and fine you.
Whoops...just noticed you didn't mention if it was a home rig or one for gigs. On a home rig the fire department and OSHA won't get ya as much as the spouse will if the house burns down (btw the insurance company won't pay when they find out either).

Totally agree with dsharrow, not worth the risk of defeating a safety feature. The ground loop isolator from Rat Shack is inexpensive, comes with its own 1/8th inch adapter to plug into the laptop, and cured the problem for me.
