Kurt...... I went by Saturday night and got my copy of the magazine.... thank you:) You forgot to mention that the girl to the left of me (kinda hugging me) is my niece Cat.... starbaby_69....... FYI to those who didn't know.

You did a very good job with the article. Made our little town sound all big & important, lollll.

I thought it (karaoke) was kind of a sideshow activity for amateurs to make fools of themselves

Shame on you Odie, I'm never singing in your presence again!!  LOL

Charmin looks so cute!...Her man looks like he is out of patience, tho.

Charm, why ain't he huggin on you and lookin proud?...You look squeezable...That boy should be thumpin his chest and up next to you showin off his gal.

Ah, Kieth, ya little romantic.

But he's..... not the public squeezin' kind.

And shame on you for editing your other post.... I read that before you did.  :D  But I'll be nice and save my response to that for a PM. See..... I'm not ALWAYS a big smartazz.

There's a fast food chain thats started doing karaoke on the 1st Tueday of each month called Burgerville--its a drive-thru burger joint---theres one in Canby doing it and one in Portland that I know of--there probably are others also.
I wouldn't call Burgerville "fast" food... more like "slow a$$ and we'll eventually get your burnt, expensive burgers out to you, and don't tell me you want a shake" food.

They've always been a "car hop" like Sonics *except indoors*... so singing Karaoke there is really not that big a stretch!

Oh come on Matt, Burgerville food is slow but it's seldom burnt or bad.  LOL  And nobody else has that burger sauce of there's -- there's something good about that stuff! Heck Charmin likes it too and she's pretty dang picky about food!  LOL

Charmin, I thought that line of mine in the article would cause some trouble so I had to elaborate in the second post.  You're no goofy sideshow act!    Although there was that time at Denny's when you stood up on the chair and sang Hollaback Girl!  Now that's entertainment!  LOL

Yeah, don't be running down ma Burgerville Matt!! haha
Actually, I rarely EVER eat a cheeseburger, they usually taste so fake & manufactured. I like my own home cooked ones better. But if I have to have one, it's Burgerville.

Odie, me? Picky about food? Okay, so maybe I am. Ya wanna hear my today story? Well, the kids wanted cheeseburgers, and I thought "why not?". They like the new Carls Junior.... I do NOT. So, took a trip through Burgerville to get MY cheeseburger, then a trip through McDonald's cause they have the best coffee and fries (and I was dying for a cup of coffee... quitting is too hard... and the kids wanted fries)... then on down the road to Carl's Jr for the kids' cheeseburgers.  LMAO

Er, yeah, well..... keep that lil' video to yourself Odie. haha
Actually, can you believe.... I did put that on the net once, and ONE person on here saw it.  I saw one of his live, so I uploaded that one and let him watch it.  LOL  Ah well, the crazy things people do when they're drinking.

What time did you come by Denny's? I had the wifey with me! If you guys were there we would have stayed a bit. We came by around 10-1030.

So you still up to go sing Karaoke From Hell? Ive been practicing another song they do--Mustang Sally--they dont really play any true blues songs so thats the closest thing to the blues that they have.

These are the tunes I sing with Karaoke Band

Cream-Sunshine of your love(I opened their show at the Bite in front of 750 with that)
Kinks-You really got me
Van Morrison-Wild Night
Wilson Picket-Mustang Sally(my newset one)

Both Charmin and I have a bit of a problem with PJ the fill in KJ at Denny's.
Charmin and Lonnie walk in, see her and then turn around and leave.  I sit down for a half hour, get annoyed and then leave.  LOL

Errr...... either of them.

I shared the one from Gayle's birthday party, not the new one.
(haha, twice of the same song on the same bar chair? that's not a bad karaoke nite, that's a habit, lolllllllll)

And I don't LIKE Carl's Jr, hate their burgers, but I do like Green Burrito...  :yum:

Kurt:

I went to Denny's saturday night, saw PJ was running it, and walked right back out the door.  :D  I don't like her, cantcha tell? Don't know why they even use her for fill in, I guess maybe cause she works at the bar? Who cares... I don't sing there when she's the KJ.

We went down to Spinning Wheel, it was packed, and Tom Mann & West Coast Country was the band...... they're pretty good. The dance floor was loaded the whole time, cause there were alot of out-of-towners. (the fairgrounds had that bullriding competition, and they all showed up at the saloon afterwards)

So, yes, I got a magazine from Desiree, must have just missed you guys at Denny's, cause I did not see you there.... I looked for ya.

I love the Tom Mann Band!! Espcially their fiddle player. Gary I think his name is. Tom Mann was one of the first front covers I shot for Positively Entertainment. He used some of my photos on his website and also on his show posters. Did they have a poster or flyer up?

Heres the link to the story:
http://www.positivelyentertainment.com/ ... /mann.html

Also Kindling band. I did there front cover and story also. Their steel playe is Robin Suskind founding member of Pure Prairie Leauge.
http://www.positivelyentertainment.com/ ... dling.html

I would put them and Tom Mann as the two top country bands in PDX area.

Let me know when either of them are playing down at spinning wheel Id like to go see them again.

Fiddle player? FIDDLE player? They had no fiddle player the other night. They had a gal on bass, who sang some songs. Then they had 2 guys who played electrics (though one toggled between that and an accoustic).... and Tom sang most. And they had a drummer. No fiddle, no keyboard.... they were pretty good though.

I saw another band recently.... Monty Moss.... HE was good. Just him on electric, and a keyboard player and a drummer. His vocals are what made the band though... very unique, awesome sounding vocalist. They were there a few weekends ago.

As to Spinning Wheel's schedule.... you know they are under new ownership and just reopened a few months ago? Well, they do karaoke sunday-tuesday-thursday (with Goldie) and weekends are live music.... always a different band. Kindling was there for a while, but they don't have a "regular house band" any more.  They are featuring lots of bands. So, the only way to know who's showing is to drive by and read the board that week. I'll let ya know if I hear they are returning.

Kurt, if you wanna catch one of Taska & the Outlaws jams, they will be at teh "Hopping at the Beach Club" on SE Division thursday night starting at 7 PM. Then, they do their regular gig there this friday & saturday as a "grand opening" type thing from 9-2.  :D  I dunno if I'm gonna make those dates, I don't think I'll be going again until 9-25 back at the Beavercreek Saloon, but I'll let ya know if I make it up to PDX. I don't like to drive that far that late at night....  (come to that one though, it's 6-10)

I was thinking of going over on Thrus night and check it out. Do they have lyric sheets?? As I dont have ANY songs done to memory. Let me know if your going to the beavercreek one--if its NOT on Sun or Wed I can get down there for that one. Maybe Ill just trnscribe the mustang sally lyrics off the karaoke screen. I dont have any idea what songs Taskas band knows---but if theres a lyric sheet I can sing em. See if they do any blues tunes and if I can bring my big silver mic!!

Hey, that's my line!!  LOL

Actually, a fiddle player is top priority I think, for the kind of music I like to sing. Finding a good one is another story..... most of them are just "progressive fiddlers" and their playing is twinged with a classical sound. (pa-tooie)  :D

No offence to any that play that way, it's just NOT what I would want in a band.

I thought classical = violin.
Comfortable, toe-tappin', rip the roof down = fiddle.

Was I wrong all this time????? :O

Yup, that's right.

I've had plenty of people see me with a case, and say "Oh, you play violin?" and I say..... No, sorry I don't. That leaves them wondering.  LOL
