Please don't fuss at me cause it's still a mess of wires...I'm working on a solution to mount the monitor and keyboard on a swing away arm and do something about cable management.
This is in my 'gameroom'. the dance pole is behind me and there is a full compliment of disco lighting and mirrors centered near the dance pole.....But the sound comes first.
Let's see what's in the rack:
At the top is a Behringer UB1222 FX pro mixer, next is a Lexicon MX200 for vocal FX, then an ART Pro Channel in series to the Lex for vocal compression and EQ, Then the Numark CDN+25G dual player, then a simple power strip surge suppressor, then the other half of the Numark player, then a 822A BBE, then the new rackmount DAW computer....
Over accross the room is my amp stack that contains 3 Peavey SC800S amps and a Peavey Q321 dual channel EQ, with an unused Peavey VSX11 active crossover powering to SP2G's and a pair of 400 watt 18" subs containing Kapa drivers.
Please also note there is a cold Bud Light and an SM58 in the pic!
OOOPS, it looks like one of my old computer stereo speaker fell on the floor when I was rolling stuff around...That's cool cause I will no longer need them. Anyone want a nice Creative Labs set of computer speakers with subwoofer?...They are maybe 6 months old...I'll ship them to anyone here who needs them....Yeah, even Elvis
Speak up or forever lose them.

I have been working on an Idea to do somthing similar to what you are doing.
First I would want a case that has a slight tilt on the top rack mount (fixed, not adjustable), with a hinged lid. I would mount the mixer on the slant, and then mount the flat sacreen in the lid, and make the lid lock open. Directly below the mixer, I would have a slide out drawer for the keyboard. And of course, all the wires have to be put away NEATLY :nana: :nana:

I really like Eben's rig. I wish he would thump his chest here more often. The guy has so very much tech knowledge but it's like pulling teeth to get him to brag and share.

Nice setup Keith.
Only one thing I see wrong in the pic at all....
That budweiser should be in a longneck, not a can. LOL

He did a pretty nice & detailed post last week on the differences of processors - that was very helpful. I too would like to hear more on the computer tech info!!!!

Thanks Lonman, but it's true Witchery even for me.....It seems no processor is any better than the motherboard and then also the chipset the motherboard uses.....It's a dizzy thang to sort it all out....I ain't no master, I just took time to do a lot of homework first, but it's like shooting a moving target cause the tech hardware changes so fast....What combo works today may not be available tomorrow.....
All I can suggest is a guy look for a stable platform that isn't in flux and then start there. I went with socket 754 only cause I had so much already invested in PCI and AGP cards already......The newer socket 939 boards offer better FSB speed but they will only accept PCI express for video. The socket 939 boards will take lots of really decent and cheap CPU's too but you gotta either start with them or another then narrow it down to the best hardware match from there.
If I had nothing already and wanted to build a new DAW from scratch, I'd start with a socket 939 and then sort them out.....socket 939 will be around lots longer than my 754 stuff and it will offer another generation of upgrade beyond what I am currently using....New software will be written to support it in years to come, whereas my stuff MIGHT be supported.
A note for you Windows users.....I do not recommend buying Vista. Vista is Microsoft's last gasp at making software and hardware backwards compatable....They finally accept that there is no way to keep backwards compatability and also meet the future needs of computing....This means that hardware will finally drive the next generation of operating systems, not software...There is hardware on the drawing boards that even Vista can't support, so take a breather and let it get sorted out.
Expect the next generation of computing to do ten times what even the latest Windows Vista machine does for the same money today.
If you don't believe me, then just look at how many Microsoft guys who have been there for years are bailing and cashing in their options including Bill Gates....They know the hay ride is almost over. Microsoft has held hardware back as long as they could, but it's over soon.
If any of you want to build a music machine today, then start with socket 939 and a legal copy of XP home. You will be good to go for the next 4-5 years when it comes to karaoke and DJ stuff....After that, it's a whole new ball game where even the music format will change beyond your hardware....hopefully you will be able to convert your files to the next generation that is sure to come.

While I'm on my pic hosting site, here is me and the yapping dag....I hate small animals as you can see:

And here is the current wife who does not cook very often, but she makes up for it:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_im ... 2_full.jpg
And here are the loves of my life.....cool weather is coming...me and these guys will spend many nights around a fire getting to know each again other soon...horses love a warm fire when it's cold n dark and the fire is warm....They are so very gentle and loving then....Early morning makes them frisky, but late nights round the fire makes want to snuggle.....There is nothing more sincere than an honest nuzzle from a cold horse....but I warn you, they need lots of beer and they can act very jealous! Man, look at those big soft eyes!...Who can resist eyes like that....Those guys just want a pet and an apple and a scratch...They will talk to you if you pause to listen.

Here is Gus stepping pretty. He is so very sweet and gentle...He gets upset if you don't ride him first and last...Reminds me of my wife like that.

[schild=12 fontcolor=FF0000 shadowcolor=FFFFFF shieldshadow=1]GUILTY AS CHARGED[/schild]
But, my guitars are to me like your horses are to you..... You can never have too many of them.
I do have a few... but they're not NICE ones. I'm gonna get me a vintage Gibson or Martin, or die trying. :D I like mine, but I need one that will put me in awe every time I pick it up and play it. Yanno how it is.
But I don't suppose you have any of those lying around anyhow. :(
And yes, I have my black boots, my brown boots, my tan boots, my white mocassins, my rust colored mocassins, and my deerskin mocassins.... are various other shoes, of the "girlie" kind. :D (got some heels too...)

And I just realized..... I'm misbehaving.... in the TECH forum.
From what I understand, that's a "shoot first, ask questions later" situation here.
I best behave. :D

Again, we're in agreement Michael.
Reminds me of that Brad Paisley song "Alcohol"... maybe you should write him, and he can add that in the lyrics. :D
