Ok, I think I have created a monster here....  I didn't mean to stir up such a stink....I was just curios as to why there are more listens than comments.  I admit that I might have sounded like I was complaining, or needed an ego boost, something like that, but that was not my intention.  I hope I haven't offended anyone here. I don't expect everyone to like the songs I submit and I am probably not going to like all the songs that other people submit, but that won't stop me from at least acknowledging to them that I stopped to listen. That's all I was getting at...if you stop to listen, just say hi, so I/we know you were there.  - Tonya

Yeah I know Babs...I could get DSL for only a few dollars more than I pay for dial up right now...through my phone company...only one problem...the phone lines in my area don't support it...go figure  LOL

Another possibility...and I do this quite often....I do a search on a song to make sure it hasn't been posted that day...I find a couple of subs of the same song and I listen to them to hear their different renditions.  A lot of times I won't comment, I just go on to do my song.  Maybe other people do the same?

I always get a lot more listens than comments.  Should I be worried??  LOL

I have seen this topic on other sites as well and I have commented  there so here's my 2 cents again.. there can be as many reasons for the duplicate listens as there are songs ever recorded..c'mon folks, let's get real.. I sometimes have triple listens to comments..So?  maybe someone doesn't have the time to respond or can't find the words, or maybe they don't like it.. maybe they're at work and got caught up in something..maybe it's multiple listens or they found a way to download it.. maybe they can't write in English!!!!!!  As long as we have the ability to record and sing for ourselves and even more important, the good feelings we get when we complete a song, that's what matters.. Get over the egocentricity please.. there's far more serious things in life than numbers..  Be happy you can breath..

Its funny - before coming to Singers Showcase, I pretty much listened to Metal and Heavy Rock only...my only exposure to other genres was through my piano lessons. However I have found it very interesting to listen to people singing songs I never imagined myself listening to. Even if I'm not familiar with a song, I can listen to vocal quality, the mix, etc and appreciate it. Somewhere along the way I actually found myself loving a lot of this music - now that was a surprise!! I have listened to more country and standards in this past year than I had in my entire lifetime to that point. Now with me singing mainly metal I don't expect a lot of people to enjoy what I sing and have tried stepping outside that metal box now and then, but there is just something about that music that draws me. When people do listen it makes me feel great, but even if they don't or listens are down, I'm still going to sing it regardless. I have learned to really appreciate the variety of music and talent on SS and its really a great place to be!!

I think we have all gone through wondering at one time or another...and sometime I'll listen to a song and like it just fine and not comment.. and why?  cause at that moment I may be at a loss for words.. you can say ' hey this is good' and the person may take offense.. thing is no one knows what's going on in anyone's head so with all the other sutff we have to worry about, doesn't this seem petty???

I still think my all-time favorite comment, recently received was something to the effect "I'm downloading stuff on my PC so it's really slow and I can't hear you but you sound great!"

I wrote back: "That's good because I can't hear myself either...let me know when I'm finished!"

Michael - I think that one would have left me speechless!!

That's my dream audience ! followed by litanous praise, eyes tearing from emotion, and matches being lit for an ovation.  I'd love a room full of such deaf listeners with vivid imaginations

After reading this whole thread I have to admit to doing some listening the other night without leaving comments.  I'll try to be more courteous in the future.

I agree with most of the explanations in this thread but Odie's sums it up for me.

Actually, I think it's cool when my number of listens keep going up even if there aren't more comments.  That means people are still interested.  :D
