Hey, what's with all the people viewing song submissions, but won't comment, or at least acknowledge that you have been there? I admit, I have been guilty of doing that myself and I am trying to do better. All I ask for is the same courtesy. :2cents: Thank you - Tonya

I confess, I am a lurker on SS. I never know what to say and when I do comment I feel like I am saying the same thing over and over.
There are so many good singers there!!!

I admit, I too have been guilty of just lurking around and not commenting because I didn't know what to say. There again, I am trying to do better - Tonya

Well...I'm on dial up and have to wait up to half an hour for a song to load so I can listen...as you can imagine I don't get to listen to many, not nearly everyone I want to ...but you can bet that after waiting all that time to listen I'm gonna say SOMETHING... LOL
I have to admit that I do feel like I'm repeating myself a lot of times...but not much I can do about that. There are only so many ways to say "you did a great job" or "wow I love this song" LOL I just don't worry about it...I know I'm just happy to hear any lil thing in my comments on my subs!

I can sympathize with you about being on dial-up. I would be lost without my DSL... I don't think I even checked out any of your subs, but I plan to correct that very shortly. I also don't like repeating myself in the comment section, but sometimes you have no choice. Thanks and have a great evening - Tonya

I always comment when I listen, even if its just a few words. But if possible, I try to point out something within the song so that they know I really did listen . I think everyone has more listens than comments, but I know some people have said their ratios are way off. I guess the guests don't come my way .

"Inspirational", or religious type songs will generally not get the same interest ratio, or listening quota that "popular" or the more mainstream national contemporary "radio" play type songs will receive. Alot of it has to do with location, but realize that some of us aren't too religious..
Don't take that personally. Alot are..
Quite honestly, if a song is about "God" "Christ", or any religion that I managed to survive, and graduate from I will not listen to it. This is how some feel. It's not to be taken personally, nor is it a reflection on YOUR song choice.. Some won't tell you this, but for some of us Classical, Opera, Gospel, Inspirational will seldom get listened to. Truth be known, we just don't enjoy it.

Yeah Tonya, This came up once or twice in the past, but unfortuneately it doesn't come up enough. Some with absolutely gorgeous voices often don't get the same number of "hits", or comments, and they don't realize why that is. Well known country songs, Pop 40, oldies, standards will tend to get the most acknowledgement and interest, UNLESS you find a means of networking with quite a few others that do your same selection. There's also alot of political stuff going on in the Showcase, when you acknowledge many others, they in turn will come to see you, HOWEVER, this might not be quite as easy with Gospel, or Inspirational selections unless you hook up with others that sing a similar selection. Opera and Classical will often get about the lowest number of listeners.. However, if this were a music conservatory naturally this would differ ! JUst the way things are... The most popular "Western" world popular selections, will receive the most interest

That happens...I checked back and some junk I did early in the summer and have one outing that has 8 comments and 52 views. It can mean any number of things ranging from more nonmembers listening to maybe it was not worth commenting on (the one I'm referencing of my own was not all that hot and I readily realize that!). The other suggestion is that you sometimes sing accapella and this, at least based with my experience on this site, doesn't sell very well. The best advice I could come up with is to really do your thing the first third of the song, ease up up in the middle and (this is the hardest) go for a slam bang ending (whether it be pp (soft) or ff (loud), fast or slow tempo...it keeps the listener stimulated and probably provokes a better response---

Still doesnt explain why the high listens but low comments. The person who subs the song picks the genre so if her songs are insirational the listener has the option not to listen to it to begin with b/c it shows that it is inspirational. If they know they dont like insp. songs why listen? I hope you get what Im saying.
Another thing to think about is maybe someone like myself likes a particular song so much that I listen to it 2 or 3 times does that count each time I listen on the "listen counter" ?
Dunno, just food for thought.

I can honestly it goes back to what mama always says if ya aint got nothin nice to say dont say anything at all. But... That is not to say that if I dont comment on one of your subs that I didnt like your song or singing I may have just missed it .No one can possibly listen to every sub on there but usually try to once a day while surfing the net go back & forth listening to as many as I can.
I did notice on my subs that I had high listens & low comments it kinda gives a girl a little bit of a complex but as long as I know that I did the best I could or wanted to on the song Im fine with whatever comments I mean its soo nice to get them but - ya know ! Its suppose to be fun !! It is for me here, listening & subbing,so I think ya all are stuck with me for a while .
Was wondering if you all clap for everyone at karaoke night when you go ? I do.

Many people begin to listen, and don't listen all the way thru. Such is the case with many inspirational and Gospel songs. If I like a person, I will often see what they are doing, give it a whirl, however I last for about 30 seconds depending on style and content... If a song isn't a title many recognize, they will listen out've curiosity, doesn't mean they will last long however... Especially if it's too religious.. That would explain why people register as listening, but don't comment... Often-times, people just don't know what to say.. Besides "Hi"... What would I say, if I go to a friends song selection, don't recognize the title, listen, but don't like the style ?? What should I say ?
WOW... Speaking if which.... It's 9-11 (September 11) right now !!!
IS this the 5th year after ? (Tell Keith, I'm crawling back under the bed, see you folks on the 12th)
