My thought is that spelling, grammar or punctuation errors, if it's written so I have to read it twice to get the meaning of the author, I am less impressive about the author. I mean I don't write well, been an engineer most of my life, but I learned to (or forced to) write well due to my work. I understand this forum is for fun and is not a dissertation for a PhD but there is no excuse to write so badly that most people can not understand what you are trying to say.
I also visit a game forum or two (yes I am a gamer geek, I admit it) and it's just horrible over there. Here is a quote of one such post
"ren man why u lie so much?u not on disability yr on SSI u get dumb dumb check not from no car crash.the crash u say wuz so bad yr car didnt even have ascratch u not hurt if u wuz how u always riding coasters at parks n sht whers all these degrees? why the hell aint u behind som desk mr degree sted u let yr girl bring home da bacon i like makin my money makes me feel like aman somthing u could nvr know about"
I mean, I can stand occasional spelling mistake or even punctuation error. Heck, I love acronyms, being from high tech area. However, this kind of writing to me is totally unacceptable. A 5th graders with decent education can write better than that. BTW, can anyone guess what the person is trying to say?

Yea but eben I read that and it conjures up a picture of this flake squinting and pecking on a dirty key board. In his shorts with dirty clothes lying all over and the sink full of dirty dishes. A cartoon on the tv babbling somrthing un-intelligibal...Vacuum still plugged in from yesterday....

Note to self: Birthdays are great, but sometimes old age SUCKS.

I have to keep him on a leash because he keeps getting himself in
trouble. I've been thinking of getting him neutered. What do you think? LMAO

Quote: I'm an elementary school teacher, but I won't bother running around grading anyone's posts for spelling. I hope you'll offer me the same courtesy.

Apostrophe placement confuses me As in personal possessive, plural, I can't figure this stuff out. Contraction is easy.

Often the most educated are the worst...ie...doctors and teachers

ohh! I KNOW I KNOW!!
if it's plural.... there is NO apostrophe.
ex) These tables are made of oak. --- "tables" does NOT have an apostrophe
If it's possessive, there IS an apostrophe before the "s"
ex) My mother's hair is strawberry blonde.
Now, Barbie-Que correct me if I'm wrong on the following point:
If the possessor is plural.... there is an apostrophe AFTER the "s"
ex) Those cowboys' hats are made of felt.
ohhhhh.... and while I'm babbling..... Can i give another lesson on spelling? (I didn't read the whole thread, so this may have been mentioned.
There - used when describing a certain place. "My purse is over there."
Their - possessive. "Those girls have their mittens on"
They're - contraction of they are. "Deb and Matt are my friends. They're great people"
Ok..... now I feel better. Whew!
BYE!
oh wait.... "a lot" is two words
