Hey,

No,  I've had to spend more time on the job, and decided to get back into my music more.  I'll have the rest of my life to play online,  but I might not to play my music... Been practicing more...Trying to become something again rather than sit around ashamed of what I'm not.  Been practicing my singing too...  In fact here's an interesting thing I noticed, the correlation between physical cardio conditioning, and singing range even without warming up..  Can one of you that sings explain to me this phenom ?

I walked briskly for about 4 miles,  felt as though my sinuses were clearer than usual. Came home and tried singing a few songs.  One I've always had to transpose down because it's high for me... HOWEVER  for some bizarre reason (full moon?)when I first walked in, no warmup, I just never do warm up...the backing on The "Climax Blues Band" song "I love you" which they do in C.. For some bizarre reason I comfortably hit...  But after about 1 minute of singing it in the original keyof C..  I had to transpose it down to Bb.. and eventually that was pushing it..  It's as if I constricted while singing, yet without ANY warmup initially, I hit a range I can never normally hit, yet I wasn't feeling as congested as usually either.

Anyway,  this is the type thing I've been doing, and working on... besides the real job...

Yeah I've been running / walking for years, and lots of times do 3 hour plus singing sessions. I know what you mean, though not sure I thought of it before. My guess is the long aerobic walk is like a long singing workout. It gets the breathing going, and gets you used to filling your lungs to capacity. On top of that aerobic excercise release endorphans in the brain to make you feel good. So your lungs are warmed up and you have a great attitude to really GO FOR IT. Attitude can sometimes make all the difference.

Bill

I'll bet it's an aspect of relaxation Bill.   Is it possible when the endorphans are working, and we are oxygenated we are physically looser, more relaxed so less constriction would mean a higher singing range ?   I don't know about any of this stuff.  I'm asking a question I suppose...Sad thing is,  as I sang, I very rapidly returned to my normal baritone range,  it wasn't anything I could hang onto unfortuneately... Singing range stuff, and register pertaining to me... is all new to me.

Of course Kelly !   Whenever I hear great singing, or music of my time I get inspired to participate and make music myself.  There's an element of contagiousness.  Too bad I live in a condo though... Hearing Booker T's name come up tempted me to disturb the peace around here and crank up the B-3  LOL ..
Maybe the Korg XB patch and headphones will work ?  Hmmmm :headscratch:

kappy dahlin nice to see you back in type :) as to hitting notes you wouldnt normally hit here are my two possibles....
1. you are singing in your throat instead of your diaphram, when I do this I have a higher range but its reedy as hell
2. you are on the threshold of a cold. 2 days out froma cold I can hit notes so pure and clear that I am stunned. if only I had recorded the day I hit the high one in unchained melody. Normally I take that down 3 or 4 semitones and still miss it. It was a once done never to be repeated note for me

ok now the witch will just go back to her broomstick and hover in the rafters sipping magic mushroom soup...with underwear on of course ;-)

Endorphins improve singing and so does increased circulation and better breathing from the exercise.

Maybe practicing breathing techniques for singing will help your range Kappy.

The exercise must have caused a release of hormones, which in turn caused the shrinkage of your gonads......result being.....higher voice range :)

Also.....exercise kills germs....only trouble is.....getting those little buggars to exercise.... :)

Thank God !

At last someone here knows enough about singing to explain what happened !

You nailed it...  It's all about the Gonads !   Thanks Johnny.  Every since I sold my Gonads on Ebay,  I've been singing Kate Bush, and Minnie RIpperton in real voice

LMAO  LMAO

I tell the guys just wear their tighty whities. You can sing a lot higher.
It is a scientific fact. You can always just cut them off, but that is painful and
unattractive.

A good argument with your girlfriend when you KNOW you are wrong will also cause them to temporarily shrink, increaing your highs by a good octave.

I think your voice started tightening up when you realized you were actually hitting the notes you were reaching for. Now that you know you can physically do it, you can set a goal for yourself.

But can you actually "Hit those notes" when after about 15 seconds, your range drops from the C to an A ?

Actually I just came in from walking, and I can hit those notes again.  But only when I sing loud... Not head voice,  but this might in fact be throat voice... Yet my voice eventually lowers..Not sure why
