You know what's strange about this ?
I'd expect to see this on the front page of a newspaper as an "April fools" goof. Not a real story. I don't know why I'm surprised. I think we really do in part believe these dare-devils can defeat death.
He made a mistake finally. Sad but my guess is this would've been how he'd want to go. Wouldn't it be ?
I suppose there's a certain amount of irony that can be seen. Wouldn't it have been embarassing if the guy ended up dying from the east nile virus while filming in New Jersey after getting stung by a mosquito ? or developed a bee-sting allergy and died getting stung by a hornet ?
ADDED IN:
I'm reading about his last few years now, I guess putting his one-month old son in harms way near a crocodile while feeding it got him ALOT of negative publicity ! Also recently this
"Later that year, he was accused of getting too close to penguins, a seal and humpback whales in Antarctica while making a documentary. Irwin denied any wrongdoing, and an Australian Environment Department investigation recommended no action be taken."
I suppose he has been stepping on a few toes lately, and it appears he stepped too close to one of the sea's deadliest critters too.

I'm saddened to hear about Steve Irwin... my ex's kids just loved the man, and I enjoyed watching him.
As for the Kimmel episode, that was faked! Read the comments!

Should the blind man be denied access to Eveest? Or ban the Indy500?
Those tht choose professions that entail adrenalin rushes and die from them were killed doing the vey thing that they love. His accident could have happened to any scuba diver and I find it hard to assocaiate with his profession Of course the hyper press is...
He was teaching things about wildlife that the kids dont get from the anti-hunting groups and modern day liberal bs.
I could start a thread on whats the best way to kill a rattle snake and get 40 dozen different responses including Oh you shouldnt kill anything.. A man cant even protect his family anymore from bears mountain lions or rabid bats in the attic because of the liberal save the prairie dogs knotheads....

Keith, I have such a terrible fear of snakes, that is one clip I just can't and won't watch. I'll have nightmares for the next week, and have to retreat back under the bed again.

I worked at a place where I killed about 6 rattlers a year. I went out in the dark and was reaching for the door handle on the pickup. All of a sudden a rattle right below I didnt have to open the door I jumped thru the window. When my heart got back tonormal I started the pickup backed up and turned on the lights He was still coiled up....

I'm not sure whether this is fact or fictitious. I just heard Irwin's last words on his deathbed were "croc's rule". I kid ye not.
I guess he was a likeable enough celebrity to some of us. The word "fanatic" sort've will stick in my mind I suppose for quite some time. I can think of a few other things I'd say on my deathbed if I had a son and wife however. I wonder if they are going to scatter his ashes in a croc farm someplace  Poor croc's will probably run away from home
As said by the crocs: "We've had enough of this guy already"

Steven, I found this from the article Singing Squid referred to:
"The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest dads on the planet," Stainton told reporters in Cairns. "He died doing what he loved best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. He [shadow=violet] would [/shadow] have said, 'Crocs Rule!'"
I will definitely miss him. We have Animal Planet on a lot at our house and Steve's enthusiasm along with this antics were something we all enjoyed. But I figured it would be later rather than sooner when his time would be up. I feel so bad for his wife and kids. His love for his crocs was unbelievable. I remember one time viewing one of his shows where a favorite croc had died. He was just distraught over it, bawling his eyes out.

Oh dang, Now if he ever hosted SNL*THAT* could've made a funny skit. A skit of a closed door, to a bedroom and Steve Irwin's dates running out with towels rapped around their mid-section while during sex he's yelling out
"She's a beautiful croc just look at that snout"
Of course even after the women leave the room Steve Irwin is still talking and moaing.. Moments later the woman reappears and knocks on the closed bedroom door which presumably has Steve Irwin in bed alone still moaning and making amorous sounds)..
"Steve ! I need my alligator handbag ? My car keys are in it"
(Mike Meyers would've played the part of Steve Irwin possibly)

I just came from a BBQ. We talked a lot about Steve Irwin. There was even a guy from Australia and he was very saddened by this. He said not every in Australia disliked him. He was quite the humanitarian and has done a lot for bringing awareness to exotic animals all over the world.
